Recent Review: Unbelievable how quickly these guys get work started and done. These guys had come out to assess the job within a day, had started the job within a few days, and after starting had finished the job on two and a half bathrooms and their mold issues in just a couple days. Between removing damaged surfaces, completely removing the mold, and protecting the surfaces, the job was done very cleanly and seemed to go very well.

Larkin Remodelers LLC
Recent Review: Hurricane Irene dropped a lot of water that found its way into my basement. I looked on Angie's List for a highly recommended contractor for water damage. Despite the high demand for contractors to fix water damage problems, Larkin put me on their schedule immediately and showed up promptly. They removed carpet and dry wall immediately and installed fans and dehumidifiers. While the basement dried, Larkin continued to email photos of the damage and progress (this is a rental home; I live in another state). Larkin emailed me with updates and advice. They scoped out a solution to fix the overall problem. Though I haven't decided yet on next steps, I can say that Larkin was prompt, timely, thorough, detailed, professional, and did not engage in contractor-speak. I understood everything he said and was very pleased that he treated me like I was his only customer. I will definitely use Larkin again.

Top Dog Professional Handyman Svcs
Recent Review: Tog Dog provided excellent service over a two day period. They did a leak detection, sealed a palladium window area, removed water damaged wood and storm damaged wood and conducted some mold removal.  The owner of the company was also on site to confirm what work needed to be done. They prioritized the  needs so that we could decide what we wanted worked on now, and later. The men were careful to put up sheeting to protect the rest of the house and bagged up all materials for easy disposal. The price was fair and the work was done professionally.  They kept me informed every step of the way and worked with my insureance company on the claim. I would use them again and highly recommend them.

AMERICAN HOME SERVICES
Recent Review: We had a problem with a drain from a window well that would result in continuous flooding in our basement. We were finally able to fix the problem with the drain and hopefully prevent further flooding. So we contacted two businesses about mold remediation and removal of the damaged drywall and paneling. The first company, provided a good estimate but they were not as professional or reliable as we wanted. After searching online we were able to located American Home Services and then used Angie's List and saw they had great reviews. I immediately called them about receiving a free estimate and they offered to be out at my house the next day to give us an estimate. The President of the company was the person who came out to give us our estimate. He was able to explain everything that would need to be done a reasonable time frame (2 days). I received the completed estimate within 24 hours and scheduled the appointment shortly there after. American Home Services responded on time and placed plastic down in the hallway that leads to our basement to prevent any damage to our floors. My wife and I then waited as they worked for the day and after they completed the days work, they then showed us the basement and what they completed. Overnight they left a dehumidifier and other equipment to complete the work. The next day they came back and hand cleaned any spots that weren't completely cleaned within the first day's work. After they were done, I was then shown the basement and the work that was done. I then received a receipt for the services and a print out of all the work/chemicals that were used in the basement during the repair. American Home Services then provided us with a warranty to come back and fix any problems within the first year. Overall American Home Services is a great business that is willing to work with their clients and make sure that their needs and concerns are met.

Capital City Restorations
Recent Review: I had a pipe burst in my basement while I was away, soaking the carpet and everything else sitting on the floor. I called Capital City Restoration around 8p.m. because they advertised 24 hour service. They said they'd have two workers out in an hour, and sure enough they came out and were ready to go. However, they wanted me to sign a form that said they could literally charge me whatever they wanted, and if I contested anything they'd put a lien on my house. I asked them if they could give me an estimate, but they said they couldn't because they didn't know how much work they'd have to do. I asked them to call their boss, who also told me they could not give estimates. Their website says they're state licensed, and I said I thought as a state licensed contractor they were required to give estimates? He said yes, but this was an "emergency" so he didn't have to, and complained that he'd have to go into the office and use some software program and take a bunch of measurements to give me an estimate. I asked if he could just give me prices then? Labor per hour? Equipment? He couldn't do that either, they charge by the job. I asked what's a ballpark figure then, $500? $1,000? $10,000? and he said probably $500-$1500 based on previous jobs. The workers there said the damage wasn't bad and it would probably be around $1,200. I asked their boss what was the most he's charged for a similar room and situation and he said he's never seen it go over $3,000. So I wrote on the form "charges not to exceed $3,000 without written authorization" just to have some upper limit, and put my trust in them. The workers did a quick, thorough job. They cut up and hauled off all the damaged carpet and padding, took out the baseboards, took out a few sections of wet drywall, and set up a bunch of blowers and dehumidifiers which they said to leave running for three days, then they'd be back to pick it up. They should have told me though with all those fans and equipment to check that they weren't tripping the fuses, which they were. For two days little did I know the dehumidifiers weren't working at all because they were on the same circuit and had tripped the fuses. So I myself ran extension cords upstairs and switched around equipment on different plugs until they all ran okay. I called them and told them what happened and if they could leave it here an extra day, but they said no because my charge was already almost $3,000 and that would put it over! I don't know if it was purely coincidental the final charge "happened" to be right under the most I had authorized, or they took that to mean that was the most they could get away with. I'd like to think they're honest but it's hard to tell. Still, the workers did a good job, and they did come out quickly and work until late (midnight) until the job was done, which is worth a lot too.

The mitigation went well but company does not restore any structure. They just take it apart. Company is misleading. Company charged for removing water which was completed before they even showed up. I removed all of the water. I was told that it was a flat rate regardless.

AServiClean Inc
I called at 930 in the morning the day after a rain storm caused some flooding in my basement. A technician was at my house by 11, despite the fact there were numerous calls about flooding. The technician tested various spots in my basement drywall for moisture. Several spots were wet - he told me it is best to wait on remediation and to first resolve the drainage issues around my house. He removed the carpet pad and helped me set up my fans and dehumidifiers to dry out the rug. He didn’t charge me a dime and didn’t try to sell me on something that wasn’t needed or that wouldn’t be needed until later - after I resolved the drainage issues. This is an incredibly honest and professional business that I will use after I resolve the drainage issues.
