Recent Review: We contacted Excel Home Inspections in CT to have them inspect a potential beach home for us....we spoke with Debbie Odom and she was very kind, knowledgeable and accommodating.  We set up an appointment for the inspection and Debbie was punctual and ready to begin her 3 hour inspection.  She was thorough, experienced and offering advice throughout the entire inspection.  We were extremely pleased and satisfied with the high level of work that Debbie did.  We received a binder with a copy of her notes and within 24 hours we received a fully typed summary of the inspection.  We highly recommend Debbie Odom and Excel Home Inspection in Waterford, CT.

Recent Review: Tom provided a thourough inspection of the property, key areas; basement radon testing, electrical safety, structural assesment, chimney inspection, property drainage and signs of basement and crawl space flooding, termite & pest damage, roof and siding assesment.  Tom is very knowledgable and isn't afraid to get dirty in basement and attic crawl spaces.  Discovered boiler chimney didn't have liner, which due to high efficency furnace was eroding the Victorian era brick.  Discovered many electical issues and some termite damage as well, which enabled me to negotiate with the seller for credit at closing.  Tom is knowledgable on who the "right" contratcors for the job at hand are in the SECT area, and so far the contractors he has recommended have worked out well.  Tom also provided suggestions and tips for DIY repairs. Strongly recommend Tom to inspect your home, particularly if it's an older one.

Recent Review: Our inspector was Bob Breault. He was thorough -- checking the house from roof to crawl space and everything in between -- as well as personable. As he went about his inspection, he was sure to point out things of concern and explain them in laymen terms. The report he prepared was equally as thorough and provided guidance on recommended repairs as well as home maintenance tips. I would highly recommend Tiger Inspect.

Recent Review: Terrific! My husband and I can't say enough good things about this company. We were set to buy an older home and found out, through Eastern CT Home Inspection that the septic system was failing and that the well water was contaminated. We got out of this potential sale (and nightmare scenario) due to Eastern CT's great work. We utilized Eastern CT again for the home we ended up purchasing. The reports provided in both instances were very thorough and detailed. Charlie, the inspector for Eastern CT, is very knowledgeable, and will take the time to explain what he is inspecting and answer questions. The price for the service is very reasonable, particularly considering the high quality of service. I highly recommend this company.

It went really well. They were very thorough and knowledgeable. I did not shop around for pricing. They provide excellent service.

FAA-MSA INSPECTIONS INC
Inspector Raffone attempted to bill for $250 of additional services (see other similar reviews on Yelp) not contracted or agreed to in any way, and refused a refund after being confronted with this dishonesty, which required a credit card charge dispute to resolve. Mr Raffone was aggressively rude to myself and my real estate agent, dismissive of customer concerns, and berated his assistant from start to finish. Inspectors also left tools and trash on the premises after departing as quickly as possible from a whirlwind, shoddy inspection. Stay away from Mr. Raffone and the untrustworthy AA-MSA at all costs.

This firm was recommended by a friend of a friend and we had no idea what to expect. The office responded immediately to my inquiry, gave me several options for scheduling and then reacted very considerately when I was forced to reschedule due to the selling agent's availability. When the inspector, Nick, showed up early and could not get into the house he simply said "There's plenty to do outside" and set to work. For the next three hours he meticulously inspected every detail he could on the house we are buying and took the time to explain clearly and professionally every aspect of what was needed, what might be needed in the future and what we should have reviewed by a contractor for estimates. What was even better was that he also took the time to point out where things had been done right: what was an upgrade, where the seller had obviously cared for and maintained a system and where above-average materials had been used, giving us a much clearer idea of how the current owner had cared for the house. Throughout the entire process he stayed focused on his job and clear in his explanations of what he was not able to provide (where something was beyond the scope of the service or where he had no access to something and could not comment on it). In the end, he sent a very complete, very clear report to  us within 12 hours of completing the inspection. I would highly recommend this company and our inspector, Nick Tragakes, for any inspection. His knowledge, courtesy, professionalism and conduct on the job constituted the best example of good work I've seen in a long time.

Lived out of state. Not there for inspection. Inspector did inspection with the seller/owner. Inspector listed interior panel walls of sunporch as bowed and stated it was cosmetic. Unfortunately, they were bowed from water damage. I had to renovate the entire sunporch at a cost of over $30,000! On the report, the inspector listed interior stairways with handrailings. There were NO stairway railings. I had to install them. All the appliances needed to be replaced: refrigerator froze food in the refrigerated section. Dryer had rust inside. His report lists: Laundry - General Comment. Stove had to be replaced. There was no condition of appliances listed in the report. There was a serious leak under the kitchen sink. For bathroom toilet, the report lists "flushes." The bathroom toilet ran constantly and needed repair.. The windows are drafty. The inspector listed the windows as: "screen, self stored." The screens are separate from the windows -- not self-storing. There was termite damage. He listed the damage as "old." A contractor had to do repairs when damage was found to be significant.

AHOUSE MASTER OF AMERICA
This company is the most professional company I have ever had the pleasure to pay. As I was scrolling through, I saw the other review and couldn't believe my eyes. That has to be an angry ex-wife!! I am on my fourth house now and last year I used HouseMaster, they were the best inspection company I have ever used. Much better than others mentioned. They found minor and major issues and save me thousands of dollars. They also came out at no charge to help me identify some issues unrelated to the inspection. I would highly recommend this company to all my friends and family. In fact, it was my real estate attorney who recommended them and I agree with him!! They are A+
