Recent Review: This was, by far, the best paint job we ever had done. We have cedar siding that always had trouble holding a finish because of mill glaze. With this crew, they made sure to hit the areas with the glaze with a thorough sanding. Now that some time has passed, I can say with confidence that they corrected the problem. The house looks great!  The workers made sure we were satisfied with everything and followed up on things when needed. They also did a fantastic job removing any mess at the end of each work day.

Recent Review: Floor cleaning (especially kitchen tile floor with lots of wax buildup) was top notch. Windows were reasonably clean (we've seen better work (Gary Kosker's the best)). Paint prep was thorough, walls, ceilings, and most of the trim was done very well. Some of the window trim appeared to have been done in a hurry toward the end of the four-week job. The basement walls, stairs, and floor were also very well done. Debris and junk removal was done quickly and thoroughly. Overall we were quite pleased with the work. We plan to hire them again for cleaning and junk removal from the house we are preparing to sell.

Recent Review: The final product is beautiful. Dennis and his two additional workmen worked 7 days to complete the project. Each day they cleaned up and left the house livable despite all the various projects going on. He removed all the hardware from the doors and windows before he painted and replaced it when the job was complete. He and his crew were very polite and respectful of our living space and items in our home. I really don't have any complaints but would caution anyone who works on a tight schedule to understand that their definition of starting 'early' and yours  may not be the same. Also be very specific when understanding what will be completed. Although they did preparations far beyond my expectations for the walls and trim, things like painting the inside of closet doors is not standard. When I think a door is painted, I think both sides of a pantry or closet door. They left extra paint so I can take care of that and don't mind considering the rooms and trim look amazing. As with any major project there were a few glitches but nothing that we are really unhappy about. Update!!!! After few months we have a few issues. There was a set of brass screws that we were assured would be returned and to date they have not. The paint around areas of fire place have bubbled and will need scraped and redone and several places on Windows have peeled so was not properly prepped. Way over paid for work we are going to have to fix. They told door knobs off to paint doors and several have locked up and we found were damaged when put back on. Brass knobs very expensive to replace original hardware of 1942 home so just have doors that don't lock or turn for now. Wish I had just done it myself, costing me more money? Update 7/27/2017: Company did not follow through on warranty

Recent Review: Italian Painting Services is simply an all-around outstanding painting team from start to finish. We knew we had found the right contract the moment we gathered all our quotes (all from highly-rated L.A. area painting contractors). The quote from I.P.S. was the most detailed and professional of several companies that gave us bids, and it was amongst neither the highest nor lowest bids. We are incredibly happy with the work they performed, as the walls were restored to a condition that passes as brand new (our building was built in 1991). Our condo unit has double high ceilings, which they were able to paint without issue. Most impressive is the door and casing work, which is flawless, as there are no paint drips, pooling of paint in the panel details, or any of that amateur stuff...just beautifully painted doors with a gorgeous sheen. To be sure these guys are professionals and it shows in their work. For example, when we observed them prepping our place, we noticed that they took the time to Do It Right: taping edges, removing faceplates and door knobs, etcetera. For sure it is easier to skip this step, but again, these guys took the time to make sure things are done to a higher standard. Also, the paint they use is great: it looks great, did a great job of covering the sickly-looking off-white that was previously on the walls, and it was ultra-low VOC (i.e. it didn't smell terrible, which is great since our son was about 6-7 months old when the work was done). Also, when we wanted to add and additional bathroom to paint, we talked it over with the lead and were sent change orders that evening. A lot of the correspondence was handled over email, which was extremely convenient for us, and the price for the change order was incredibly fair. Finally, I was most impressed by their work ethic. In Los Angeles, it is easy to blame being late because of the traffic or just showing up at 10:00, 10:30, or 11:00, and just blame the freeways. These guys were terrific about showing up at 8:00 or 9:00 or whatever time they said from the start, and if there were issues or they would be unable to make a date, I was told at least a day – and often several days – in advance. We also had to contend with a flooring contractor that was habitually late and behind schedule (which demonstrated a great contrast in contractor professionalism/work ethic), and Italian Painting Services were able to handle our flooring contractor's delay with stride and patience. Based on price, quality, professionalism, and work ethic, my wife and I are incredibly pleased with the whole experience, and more importantly, the appearance and transformation of our home! I wholeheartedly recommend these guys to family and friends and to anyone reading this. As with any contractor, I definitely recommend getting a bid from these guys along with several others, and hopefully you will find that Italian is the way to go!

ALangan Painting & Decorating LLC
Langan Painting is a top level service company that provides high quality paint and decorating services.  Due to the phenomenal work completed each time that I have used them, they are my go to company for all my painting needs.  Steve the owner runs a very tight ship, cares about the level of service, and is just a great guy to deal with!  This shows in the quality of work and the professionalism that accompany receiving services from his company.  The estimate was accurate, the work was done on time and as stated, and the entire process was smooth.  Steve, thanks for providing us Angie Lister's such a great service!  I will be in touch!

I requested to have the work done before Thanksgiving and we set a tentative date of November 24. I got a call around the 14th to change the date, I was out of town and when I returned I called Mr. Harris. After I refreshed his memory on what I hired him to do he referred to me as "the foyer girl".  Would he call my husband the "foyer boy" if he happened to be speaking to him instead? We finalized the start date to be the 21st. I rushed home that morning to get a call that his crew would not be able to start that day since another job was not completed. About an hour later I got another call stating his crew couldn't get into the other job so could they come today? I said sure. 45 minutes or so later 2 men show up to do the work. I had to explain what was to be done, showing them the quote. They did not have drop cloths, ladders or patching material or tools. Thankfully I was providing the paint so they could start with cutting in. I also provided the paper towels for them to wipe up drips.  They were quiet and polite and seemed focused on the job at hand.  When they left I asked when they would be back and was told Tuesday, if that changes I'd get a call.  When I returned home Monday morning I found someone in my driveway waiting to get started. I had no idea he was going to show up. This was  a new guy who had to be instructed on what to do. He was given wrong information from Mr. Harris so again I had to pull out the quote and explain what areas are to be painted, and not painted. (He was told to paint doors in addition to trim and walls) He had no ladder and borrowed mine. He talked a lot to me, not about the job, and on his cell phone.  While painting he asked me how to get on the mailing list for Pottery Barn and then proceeded to call them to get their catalog.  ( I had mentioned that PB sometimes has coupon offers for Sherwin Williams paint). To inspire confidence in his work he told me the guys that came on the first day had less than 5 years experience between them. The material he used to patch the holes in the wall had a  very strong odor, causing a headache. My daughter and I retreated to her room and even though it was cool outside opened a window to get some fresh air. In the future I recommend the staff advise the home owner in advance if such an odorous product is used. There are plenty of patching products available that do give off such a strong odor. The first guys left a clean edge of the  upstairs wall, the guy with lots of experience painted over the edge and left a partially painted area. Since he  also had to use my ladder which was not meant to be propped up on stairs to reach high areas, he used some dirty patio pavers that were in my yard as weights , directly on the stair carpeting.  I asked him to use a rag under them and he did.  While he was cleaning up Mr Harris called  me to get in touch with his worker, while I was making dinner, tending to the dog and my daughter. We talked for awhile and he asked how I would rate the work on Angie's List. I felt cornered and explained I felt like I was being charged for a premium- he responded that his painters are professional and paid well.  Over the days following the completion of work I noticed several areas of the walls were not completely painted, there was paint on my handrails and some splotches on the  hard wood floors.  In summary, Mr Harris is unprofessional and over books jobs, his workers are average.   I had high expectations believing that you get what you pay for. I considered asking them to come back to touch up the areas missed, but honestly don't want to have any more to do with them.  The wails were eggshell white and the paint that was used was light gray, so I am can easily see the paints splatters and hits on the wood finish hand rails. They were not there before the job was started.
