Recent Review: Ron, was very professional and gave a reasonable quote on both the cost and time to complete the project. During the project, he was respectful of our time and space and cleaned up at the end of the day. His work on trim was exceptional! All in all, we felt he did a great job. We are now enjoying lower energy bills due to the replacement windows and they look great too!

Recent Review: I am more pleased than I can express with the level of service, attention to detail, flexibility, professionalism, and work ethic that Rene and his team exhibited. He treated us extremely well, overseeing all aspects of the work personally and his entire crew was pleasant and very attentive. The quality of the work really shows through in the details that Rene and his team executed-in places where corners could have been cut, the team took extra effort to do things the right way-all while staying within a budget that was comparable to what we received from other firms. The process was quick, professional, and the whole team seemed genuinely glad to be working with us on our home. Also, they were on-time. I can't emphasize the extent to which timeliness in contractors is a rarity these days. We live in a somewhat remote area so it is unusual for contractors to show up when they say they will and we always feel like an imposition. Not the case with Rene AT ALL. He was there on-time, when he said he would be, and we always felt like his first priority. I will hire Rene and his team again for more work with no hesitation whatsoever and recommend them in the highest possible terms.

Recent Review: They are huge and they cover the whole state of New York and all of New England.  They do a lot of replacement windows, roofing shingles, exterior trim stuff like gutters and downspouts.  They do exterior molding and all that vinyl stuff.  Their standards are recognized.  When I used to read specification they would say Harvey or Equal.  They meet whatever standards they have to for the Low-E-Glass and vinyl frames.  There are a lot of replacement windows places that are really low end but Harvey does maintain a standard that keeps them in business.  I am remodeling a house that I own and I bought a lot of windows from them.  The windows were $180 bucks per piece but that’s just for the material and not installation.  One of the problems with Harvey is that they really don’t have a lot of responsibility and just deliver what I order and if they deliver the wrong thing they will take it back but if they have misread something that I told them and didn’t come out right I owned it.  Basically what I pay something there I own it and that can come back and bite you time to time.  I never really had a problem with that but I came close to it a couple of times.  It is such a big outlet that I think there is a little bit of efficacy in their employees and I never really had fuggy feelings about them.  They just wanted the information and the credit card number.  They are so big so they are pretty much the best.  I have dealt with them on the Vineyard and back here and I have dealt with them quite a bit before I went to the Vineyard and they were okay.  They are not high end stuff but low end.  They are cheap enough but still acceptable to the standards of the trade.  They have to meet standards and they have to have the Low-E-Glass for windows and the shingles are of several major brands which they carry of all.  The quality of the product is contingent on whom they buy them from.  It is a 45 minutes of boat ride to go there and if it is usually out of stock it will always take a week and I have to plan accordingly.  Some time it is more than a week because they didn’t have enough demand to put it on a truck and bring it over.

FA Whip City Siding & Window
I hired whip city siding to replace all 18 Double Hung windows and 3 Porch windows in March 2019. Here was my experience and my personal review: Whip city re-used most of the exterior trim work around each window as is and it did not look new nor professional. They did install trim around stop of the window, but the contract is very vague and said under Extras "Cap Exterior Moldings with Aluminum Trim". My mother hired another local window contractor and they replaced the trim on every single window and looked more complete for a cheaper total price. I went with Whip City Siding because of the recommendations from friends of mine. Under one window the trim didn’t even cover the window and I’m worried about the wood eventually rotting out. Whip city siding didn’t do the trim here. They told me if I hire them back for siding, than they would replace this trim after spending an additional $15,000 for siding. No thanks.**Updated as of (5/9/2019), Whip city came back to my house and installed a small aluminum strip underneath the window, covering the exposed wood. They told me previously that it would take a while to come back because of the bending apparatus. Nothing was bent here, and they just attached a piece of straight aluminum trim screwed down with two screws underneath. Now I have to hire another company to fix the aluminum trim here and replace with a new bottom aluminum trim. My significant other keeps finding nails around the parameter of the play yard we’re Whip City siding was working and I’m worried about my dogs choking on nails or getting sick. I have one window in the garage that doesn’t close correctly and have to really slam the window to close correctly. On the positive side, I do like the product of the Harvey slimline windows and the insulation that whip city siding installed around each window helps with draft. After doing one big project per year and spending a large amount on new replacement windows I feel like I’m not to happy with it. In my professional opinion, I would not hire or recommend A Whip City Siding to my friends nor family

FFirst Reliable Remodeing
July 2013 Update The company was completely unresponsive until we sent a 30-day demand letter requesting money to pay to have this job finished.  After receiving the letter (and calls from the Attorney General's Consumer Affairs Division and Better Business Bureau) they contacted us and said that they would come in late July and re-coat the house.  However, we've had 4-5 estimates from other painters and every single one said that the house needs to be fully sanded before the finish is applied for a proper coating.  Reliable Remodeling claims that they can just put a coat over the mess that is on the wood now (after two power-washings and two years of exposure without protection) without sanding the wood.  This is unacceptable and we will likely end up taking Reliable Remodeling to small claims court for the money it will cost us to have someone else prepare and coat the siding.  They have less than two weeks remaining to respond to the demand letter. April 2013 Update NOTHING!  We now will need to scrub the unprotected siding clean and re-apply a coat of protective stain ourselves, despite paying $42K for the job. February 2013 Update The house was power-washed late last summer (2012) but no coat of protection was applied, so the siding went through another winter unprotected.  We hope Reliable Remodeling will finish this as soon as the weather is warmer this spring. August 2012 Update After about 6 months we noticed a white, cloudy coat on the siding.  We had been told that this might happen, since ceramic was mixed with the finish.  But it should have gone away and did not.  To the company's great credit, willingness was shown by them to help fix the issue.  I contacted Enoch in spring of 2011, slightly less than a year after work had been completed.  He said that he would come by and take a look, which he did, determining that there was too much ceramic in the mix and that he would powerwash and re-coat.  In November 2011 he came to our house and powerwashed.  Since it was getting cold, he said he would powerwash again in the spring (this year) and then re-coat.  But they have not followed through.  Now our siding is unprotected due to powerwashing last November, and has been unprotected for 8 months.  Attempts to contact the company have been successful, with promises that they will come fix the problem by powerwashing and re-applying the coating with the correct amount of ceramic so that it looks clearer.  But, as stated above, they have yet to come, despite stating on two occasions this summer that they would.be here at specific times.   I want to give Reliable Remodeling a positive review, and had done so, as the initial work went relatively smoothly.  However, failure thus far to take care of this issue - about three days of work to powerwash and re-finish the siding - leaves me with a house with beautiful but unprotected siding and unable to give them a positive review.  This has been frustrating, but I hope that the issue can be resolved.  If that happens, I will update here so everyone knows that this company does indeed stand by their work. Original Review - Fall 2010 Things went well for the first 2-3 weeks then kind of stalled. We were in limbo for a few months after that. Now it's done, and we're happy it's done, appears to be quality work, and we hope it protects our home and looks as good in 5, 10, 20 years as it does now. Our home has truly been transformed. In response to the contractor's response below, it is true that the doors initially came in August, but they were not what we asked for, which was a mistake by the company that sent the doors. And it should also be added that we got a great deal on these doors, which are high-quality mahogany. Had those doors delivered in August been the doors we ordered, all would have worked out much more quickly. I think the fault here lies with the door company for sending the wrong doors and the shipping company for taking so long to send the right ones.
