Recent Review: Worst experience of my life! Let me just start by saying that I hired this company because they were a young company with a young owner and I like to see the young guys try to make it. Big mistake. Before the job had even started, the owner never gave me a contract to sign. That should have been the first red flag. Then the job was delayed because he never bothered to check if the job required a permit, which it did. I have a sand bottom pool and the walls needed to be resupported or replaced. The owner said he was uncomfortable doing that so I had someone experienced in carpentry resupport the walls. Oasis Pool Service brought up no reservations about that and still accepted the job. Thru delays and excuses, the job did not start until about 5 months after the initial start date. After waiting months for the job to be completed, the entire bottom of my pool now looks like the surface of the Moon. The bottom is filled with excessive divots and voids. There are also protrusions coming from the bottom and part of the wall. I told Derek Thoelen, the owner, that I was not happy with the results and I wanted it fixed. At first it looked like he was going to do the right thing and fix it. He came back with one of his friends and his idea of getting rid of the protrusions on the bottom was to have his friend tamp down the protrusions with his hands, which may have made it worse. They left without fixing the problems. He tells me maybe we can work something out. The very next day he calls me and says he wants the rest of the money because the liner is in and we can settle things after I pay him. After I refuse to pay him until the problems are fixed, he says he'll only fix it if he gets paid and I sign a contract not holding him liable for any damage he can cause. Shady? I'll let you be the judge of that. What should have been a fairly easy project became a total nightmare. I hired a pool inspector to look at the condition of my pool. He concluded there was lack of preparation done to the sand bottom which caused the excessive divots and voids. He believed that the protrusions from the wall were debris that should have been removed before the liner was put in. He told me this could not have been the result of the work that was done to the wall. Rather than Oasis Pool Service fixing the problem, the company refused to take responsibility and tried to blame me, the homeowner, for the pool problems.
