Recent Review: Lambert and Barr LLC. was contacted the morning after my circa 1770 barn was severely damaged by a tornado dropping a 75' cherry tree onto it's roof / east side exterior wall. The damage was quite extensive to the roof, exterior siding and the original oak and chestnut timber framing. The project manager was at my house within an hour of my calling, and was very knowledgeable as to what would be needed to restore my barn to it's pre-damage condition. When the time came for the insurance adjuster to inspect the barn, Jim Lambert, the company owner, was there to ensure no detail of the damage went undocumented, and he was adamant that the repair should be made using period correct materials and building techniques. A week later a delivery was made to my property of rough-hewn, oak and maple timbers sourced from a local sawmill. Lambert and Barr's skilled and knowledgeable framers were on site the very next morning cutting and notching the timbers into the posts and beams needed to re-frame the load bearing wall and rafters. I knew there would be some difficulty in finding replacement 8' tongue and groove exterior siding, as I had been searching for some for months to use elsewhere on the structure. The project manager told me that it would be difficult, but not impossible to find. Within a week there was a crew at the job site staining brand new siding. The roof repair was fairly straight forward, but the fact that there is no noticeable seem where the old and new materials join is quite impressive. Everything was repaired, or replaced, trimmed out and painted within three weeks of my initial phone call, and had the weather cooperated, I'm certain it would have been done in two weeks. During the restoration, some unseen damage was repaired and other various task were performed on my property. When I received the bill for services rendered, I was presently surprised to find these additional expenses were not billed. I would have no problem recommending Lambert and Barr for any type of construction work, especially if it involves historic properties. They are very knowledgeable, expedient and take great pride in the quality of their work. They deliver on there promises, and don't charge more than a job is worth. Jim Lambert is the sort of man that is a rarity these days. He is an honest contractor.

Recent Review: We started out by meeting with four contractors (two from Angie's list and two from family recommendations) for estimates. Leo from Woodland was, by far, the most personable and reasonable of the four. He was the only contractor who listened to what we wanted and told us what would work within our budget. Instead of blindly agreeing with everything we said, he made suggestions based on his extensive knowledge and experience, providing us with options we hadn't considered before. He even gave us the opportunity to cut down on costs by doing some of our own demolition and by purchasing some of our materials on our own. When designing our kitchen remodel, Leo even came down to the store with us to give us advice and to explain some of the features being offered. He doesn't skimp when it comes to quality materials or quality work. Our remodel ended up being a lot more work than originally anticipated, but Leo called us right away and explained what needed to be done and why. In our bathroom, because of the tub we chose to install, Leo and his team had to remove and replace all of the plumbing in the column. After removing all the Sheetrock and insulation, we found mold in the framing, so one of our bathroom walls needed to be entirely reframed as well. The bathroom renovation included moving plumbing for sink, tub, and toilet, installing a window in the shower, tiling the shower, installing tub, toilet and pedestal sink with extremely tight plumbing, replacing ceiling light and fan, installing a medicine cabinet with mirror, and installing all fixtures including lights, towel bars, grab bar, faucets and knobs, and shower rod. Leo took a moldy, poorly designed bathroom and transformed it into a sleek, clean, and elegant bathroom which properly utilizes the limited space. When it came to the kitchen, Leo pulled up a pretty nasty subfloor and set beautiful hardwood flooring down, seamlessly blending it existing hardwood flooring throughout the house. He and his team installed our kitchen cabinets very skillfully, even with our substantially uneven walls and floors. He moved a window to accommodate our cabinet choices, installed recessed lighting with a dimmer switch, installed a skylight to add more natural light, resized a gigantic kitchen entryway to accommodate seating, and moved the electrical for our stove and refrigerator to give us a more open and functional kitchen design. He was with us every step of the way, including delivery and installation of our countertop, to make sure everything was done to his high standards. After seeing his work in the kitchen and bathroom, we decided to have him and his team fix up the rest of our house. This included adding access to the attic from the hallway, patching holes in some of our walls, repairing and replacing trim and molding, installing two new baseboard heaters, sanding or replacing baseboard covers, and painting everything from walls to ceilings to trim to baseboard covers. Because of the moving the window in the kitchen, Leo had to replace some outside siding. After some research, he found that the only company to carry this siding was based out of Long Island and that company didn't ship. He took a day and drove out to Long Island to get us the perfect match, even purchasing a little extra for some jobs we had mentioned wanting to do in the future. He made countless trips to the store to pick up things that we forgot to order, always with a smile. Leo and his team were an absolute pleasure to work with. He and his team are kind, thoughtful, hardworking, and extremely professional. They take a great deal of pride in their work and are not satisfied until the customer is thrilled. My husband and I could not be happier with our entire experience with Leo. We will certainly be calling him again for future jobs (or maybe for a beer ?). No worries, no sugar free gummy bears here!
