Gary is incredibly competent, is punctual, and always communicates with me about every step of the project. He is relentlessly pleasant and professional. He is extremely versatile, and there is nothing that he cannot do well. He is more than willing to make referrals for other specialists, and they are of similar excellent quality.

FThomas "Tommie" Pocchia
Thomas "Tommie" Pocchia agreed to take on a job to build and install custom closet doors after coming to my home and physically looking and my current closet doors. We agreed on a price, installation date and exact details of the job (e.g. paint, hardware etc). Once I asked about his professional insurance he told me he would provide it to me in a few days. Then he asked for a deposit because of the fact that the job is custom and he would have to buy the parts/materials he needed. After talking with him we agreed and I PayPal'd him a deposit of $450.00. It's been almost 4 weeks, countless excuses and phone calls that are unanswered to this day. He scammed me, please please if you are reading this DO NOT hire him for any job! He's a liar and I googled him, he actually has been arrested in January 2017 on drug related charges.

FPIERCE K KEARNEY
It was a disaster from which we have never recovered.   Kearney did things like use finishing nails to attach calpboard siding: it rotted and fell off.   Kearney put the insulation Typar lining on the wrong way round, did not back-prime any of the wood on the exterior of the house, and built roofs that had 2 foot rollbacks.  Withing a year and a half of his constuction work our exterior walls rotted and fell off, the roofs fell in and the windows rotted.   We have reports from engineers from Chubb Insurance, the State building inspector and independent building engineers which state that they have never seen such a mess.   Kearney has no building skills whatsoever and is a fraud.   We have spent $1,387,000 tearing down, correcting and re-building his work.  He is a disaster and has no building schools.      AVOID THIS CONTRACTOR WHATEVER YOU DO...

FBreezeway Inc
He did not comply with Connecticut law (specifically the Connecticut Home Improvement Act) by failing to present me with a contract and failing to have the proper licensing. He also did not have a number of inspections done that were required by code. In one instance I questioned him if a foundation inspection was required before concrete was poured and he said that an inspection was not required. An inspection in fact was required. He asserts that he had all necessary inspections done but that the town lost them. That is not true. It is probably not a coincidence that we had problems with our foundation. 4 large footings to support fieldstone columns and a wrap-around porch moved several inches after they were poured. The footings were propped up with a backhoe and backfilled. This is an improper remedy as footings should sit on virgin soil. Because of Mr. Randolph?s inadequate conduct of his job we have experienced several major problems. In addition to those previously mentioned there is a poorly installed roof (we experienced 15 or more leaks, hundreds of existing nail pops, missing or poorly installed flashing, etc.), severe air infiltration (2.44x ?acceptable? levels according to an energy auditor), footing drains that freeze, cracks in the basement wall and floor (mesh was not installed in floor per plans) and large, unsightly gaps in post and beam framing. There are other problems as well.

ARight Choice Remodeling
The design and contruction was performed within the time frame and cost as specified in the contract. He was also very helpful in suggesting small changes to enhance the construction, charging only for material costs but performing this work within the original estimate. I would rate the quality of the work as excellent. The contractor kept me informed on the progress of the building and was punctual with regard to his personal schedule. I would definitely recommend this contractor for his professionalism and expertise.

AAlan Costa, Builder
When another provider left the job unfinished, Alan came replaced  band molding that was needed so a roofer could finish installing the roof.  Alan then applied vinyl siding to a dormer and trim on my brick house.  He was neat, punctual, and did an excellent job.  I would highly recommend him to anyone needing any building services done.

We couldn't finish the bathroom on our renovated house until we reconciled the ceiling. We asked Wes to adjust the bathroom ceiling and fix the upstairs. This included removing siding, installing a new floor, building walls and replacing the roof. Wes is a perfectionist, he has high standards for himself and how work should be done. His work is excellent and his forward thinking made it easier to install the plumbing and electric. In the past, Wes has installed a small porch, a variety of windows and the joists etc. for a new floor. He is high energy, efficient and experienced.

CSprain Brook Company
The contractor, Todd Woodward of Sprain Brook Company, charged an 18% markup on all work for supervisory services. However, he was sparingly on the job and in the process, his sub contractors made many errors for which both they and Mr. Woodward would not take responsibility.  Mr. Woodward's HVAC professional, John Carragan of Watertown, CT installed HVAC venting through a doorway which was supposed to serve as an entrance to a wine cellar.  Mr. Woodward acknowledged the mistake (he was not there to supervise Carragan) but refused to have the vents re-located, leaving little clearance to come in/out of the doorway.  In addition, Mr. Carragan drained the freon from the A/C system and never replaced it.Mr. Woodward's mason charged an extraordinary $13.6K (of which I was unaware until later) to lay a simple bluestone floor, build steps, and install a stone facade on top of the cement foundation.  The stone facade work was left incomplete.  Again, Mr. Woodward would not accept responsibility for his sub-contractor's work.  I actually failed inspection because the stairs did not meet my town's construction code.  Mr. Woodward did not respond to my inquiry about the code failure.Woodward's subs were disrespectful of my home.  For example, while Mr. Woodward was instructed to have his subs use bathroom facilities located in the basement, they would use my personal bathroom located in my bedroom.  They threw cigarette butts all over my yard (which I found once I did a separate cleanup after I had fired Mr. Woodward).  I even found cigarette butts inside my home near the heating system, which is a fire hazard. For his own part,  Mr. Woodward miscalculated the amount of dirt excavated from my yard to create a sub basement and apply structural footings.  He then attempted to additionally charge me to haul away the dirt.  When I refused to pay (since this work was in the original estimate) he left two large dirt piles in my yard (over 10 feet high).  The interesting part is that his father is the excavator on his projects.  Mr. Woodward's excuse for not fixing his errors was that he could not afford to lose money.  I told him that it is the responsibilty of a business owner to correct mistakes.  His reponse to me was, "Well, you can afford it." Finally, Mr. Woodward sent me an invoice for work I thought had already been completed and for which I had paid.  I asked him to sit down with me to review the numbers.  I took time off from work for this meeting and found out that he had made so many other miscalculations that he was over-charging me in order to compensate for his financial errors (including his 18% markup). At this point, I had to fire him and hire another contractor to complete the job.I think this job was actually too big for Sprain Brook Company to handle.  They are likely better on smaller jobs that require fewer sub contractors and less time to complete.  On the positive side. Mr. Woodward's core staff of three carpenters were very nice and professional and did not need oversight,  which is why I believe that he can be hired if he uses those workers and does not have to expand to other sub contractors who need constant supervision

We have had nothing but trouble with the addition, shoddy work, third rate subs, and now have to replace the entire bedroom floor at enormous expense.  Building was delayed and delayed, the foundation went in when it was already snowing and the walls cracked - discovered when the basement flooded. Contractor patched and we have since done more. Electical outlets are poorly installed, crooked, uneven, gaps showing. Tiling has been a nightmare, repaired twice and now has to be ripped out. We feel completely taken advantage of. The work had to be done largely in our absence and I was constantly being called to solve problems that should have been foreseen. Not the work of a professional.

AC S Fischer Building & Remodeling
I hired Chris Fischer of C F Fischer Building back in 2001. I happened upon his yellow pages listing via the internet well before Angie's List. Having had a few other contractors to my house and providing me with little if any real help, I lucked out to contact Chris. Without any real sense of his expertise or reputation, I hired him to re-side my old 1850 farmhouse, drastically in need of a facelift. From the get go, I was impressed with Chis' work. He was able to solve issues of rough and odd edges in terms of my little school house with extreme attention to detail. That's what is so obvious about Chris. He never cuts corners. If anything, he goes beyond the work required - a perfectionist. And he tried to provide me with every avenue to save money. He has worked on multi-million dollar homes as well as little places such as mine. He applies the same work-ethic, craftsmanship, and attention to detail to all his projects. Additionally, he cares about keeping his van organized, the work area clean, and is mindful of those who reside while work is going on. He is very considerate and genuinely a nice person to be around. And, he does not smoke!!!! Chris' work is top-notch. The best I have seen, and I'm very detail-oriented, picky. Because of what he did for me initially, I have hired him to do the work listed above and we have continued our work relationship for 10 years. I've been a project manager for several construction sites and I've not seen anyone who meets Chris' standards in terms of quality, fairness in price, and work ethic. I recommend him enthusiastically. I wouldn't use anyone else.
