Recent Review: As above. They also power washed the house. The took the shutters to their shop and did them there.Again, we have had this house stained several times and this was the best. Everybody had good personalities, which also help a lot.

Recent Review: Eric Berk was responsive to our questions and requests and kept a good eye on the progress of the project.  His painting crew was prompt, courteous, careful and efficient.  They did meticulous prep work and the final results look terrific.  We are especially pleased with how the Victorian woodwork on the front porch came out.  You can see before and after pictures on the Berk's Fine Painting FaceBook page.

Recent Review: Due to the very rainy end of April and beginning of June, the service didn't start on schedule.  Once things dried out, Kevin Conners, the owner of Painting Etc. began his work.  He prepared the surface of the entire house for painting.  Once that was complete, he then applied the primer and two coats of paint.  He took the shutters home and painted them there.  If you're looking for a crew with all the latest equipment to come in and work at breakneck speed, Painting Etc. probably isn't for you.  Kevin works alone and is very meticulous.  He is quiet and steady.  The quality of his work is remarkable.  He is very pleasant and easy to deal with.  I would suggest him to any of my friends who would like to have their houses painted.  We found his price to be very fair.  It would be quite unlikely that I would ever go with anyone else.

They insisted on starting a week before I was ready for them--the carpenter hadn't finished repairs yet. They let paint chips blow everywhere, including the street. They broke the one original shutter on the house by scraping and powerwashing too hard. They broke my fence and still deny doing it. They left the two rakes I loaned them outside in the elements instead of leaving them on my porch for me to put away. They broke several stems off of my blooming Hydrangea. The contact person refused to call me despite repeated messages left for him to do so--responding with e-mails instead. They never finished the power wash and expect me to allow them to keep the money I deposited for the job.

Ok, It's spring and you're looking to have your house painted?  I have three words for you:  Hire this man!  He does everything he says he will and does it beautifully! We interviewed five painters and chose Mr. Berk.  He was not the least expensive (nor the most), but he was clear and explicit on everything he would do.  He listed shutters, deck trim, porch railings and lamp posts.  Half way through the project, I decided to purchase new lights for the porches and three posts; the lights are bronze and the posts were black.  One of his painters took a bronze lamp to the paint store to match the color exactly.  Black posts and black railings are now bronze and match all the lights.   A large deck was a concern.  It was painted many years ago and repainted many times.  Power washing would never take off all the paint.  One of the painters we interviewed said we could only keep on painting.  Another offered to replace the surface boards with new ones which could then be stained....very expensive!  Mr. Berk just said, "No problem.  We can sand it off."  And he did.... at a very reasonable price.  Deck is now clear stained and the 30-year-old deck now looks new. One end of the house had a moisture problem of which we knew nothing; it showed up only after the area was painted.  Mr. Berk sanded the entire end of the house bare, used small wedges beneath the clapboards to allow air to circulate. and primed and repainted  that end of the house.  No charge for the extra work and it was several days extra. We have had no trouble since. The piece de resistance in this project is the crew.  A homeowner could not ask for nicer, more helpful workmen....and lots of them there every day, all day with Mr. Berk checking frequently.   I enjoyed having these guys around. We would hire Mr. Berk again in a heartbeat.
