The experience began and ended extraordinarily well. As a first-timer to hiring someone for remodeling, I was expecting a nightmare, but it couldn't have gone better. My visit to the store to look at wood could have been overwhelming, but my questions about prices and wood types were answered patiently and thoroughly, and I was given several panels of floor samples to take home with me so I could more easily picture different styles in my house and make an informed decision. Once a floor was chosen, it was time to schedule the estimate. The person giving us the estimate showed up exactly on time and provided an estimate that was 1/2 the amount another company gave us a few days later (the other company charged almost three times as much just to remove and dispose of the old flooring, and a little more than twice as much for sanding stairs). After the project was decided on, the wood had to be delivered a few days prior to the installation to acclimate to the temperature. The delivery was on time (five minutes early, even). We were told the project, once it began, would take 5 days, and it did. The crew was on time every single day, and when we happened to come home at lunch or before they were finished for the day, they politely allowed us to poke around and answered any questions we might have had. When one of us noticed a gap between a wood floor panel and the baseboard during the installation, or something else that didn't look "right" (there were at most three things, all minor), they were immediately acknowledged and addressed. After the stair staining, one of the crew noticed small areas where the stain had bled onto the paint, and he returned the next day to spend a quick 20 minutes touching up. The floors and stairs are beautiful and the crew was wonderful.
