Recent Review: The entire process went very smoothly.  We were told the remodel would take a week and that's what it took (apart from a delay on the door because we did not have it yet).  They did a great job accomplishing all the things we asked for and staying pretty close to the original estimate in terms of price.  The finished product looks great and we would definitely use them again.  The above price was for services and basic materials.  It doesn't include tile, fixtures, vanity, etc.

Recent Review: Worst possible experience. Very friendly and helpful during the sales process and then disappeared once they had our money.  They never called to follow up to let us know that the product we were expecting in 2 weeks would take 6.  Every time we called we got an "its on the way" answer.  Finally, we got word the product had shipped. But to the wrong address. Once we tracked it down, we opened it and it was the wrong product.  They gave us a hard time about sending it back and then tried to hit us with a restocking fee for their error. They were never apologetic, nor did they make any effort to remedy their mistakes.  If you asked for a manager, they routed your call to the receptionist who would send you back to the salesperson who would then let you go to voicemail.  We were in disbelief.  I can only assume that this is how Torrington Supply of Waterbury does business.

One Call Does It All Handy Man!
Recent Review: I hired Steve to redo a job a "professional" had do not done correctly for the beginning. I appreciated his punctuality, professionalism and just overall pleasant conversation. More than anything he understood my frustation and went all out in ensuring I did not have to dig too much deeper into my pocket to fix my problem. He searched for a door that not only fit but had a HUGE discount. I would certainly recommend him to anyone and would hire again myself.

Bauhaus Construction
Recent Review: Some tradesmen are good. Some are really good. And some are artists! Bauhaus gives you the artist, who, beyond exceptional installation and workmanship, also selected the perfect tiles, fixtures, colors, etc. I was amazed at the quality of work, especially for the price which was much lower than expected. When he hit a small snag (reinstalling the shower door), he called a professional installer and reimbursed us for the price, even though we offered to pay the extra. We recommend Bauhaus without reservation. We want to add several hundred bathrooms to our house just to get to use them again.

Recent Review: Karol completely gutted our bathroom, installed a new tiled shower with frame less shower doors, new tiled floors, vanity with sink and light, toilet, ceiling fan, recessed lights, all the plumbing fixtures and a towel warmer. He used the most professional workers who were always on time and easy to deal with. Karol's work was excellent and everything was done as he discussed in the estimate. He even has a person who made us a beautiful vanity from a picture I gave him ( for a more reasonable price than I found anywhere else). This was my best experience with a home remodeling project. I will definitely recommend him to family and friends!

DSears Appliance Repair
All the workmen, for both flooring and shower door installation, appeared on the same day. Flooring guys got in the way of the shower door guy (or vice versa). Other than that, the work on the floors was excellent. The shower door portion of the work was doomed from the start! The initial measurements were made incorrectly, so the door was built too wide to fit in the space it was designed to go which, I learned in the process, is inside the walls of the front of the stall. Instead of re-measuring and re-ordering the proper size door at that point, the installers installed it against the walls outside the shower. It became obvious to me that the installers knew no better what the job was about than the person who took the first measurements. So, I had to have someone come on another day to re-measure, wait again for the new door to be fabricated and delivered, and wasted the better part of another day on a second installation. Even the installation of the new door was not done to my satisfaction: Water still leaked under and around the door, and, as it turned out, the door leaned a couple of degrees away from the stall in such a way that water collected in the lip at the bottom of the inside of the door did not drain out into the shower drain, but, instead, emptied out onto the bathroom floor when the door was opened. This required a third visit (and parts of another day of my work time lost) from a third workman, one who came from a long drive away and who arrived considerably later than promised because of traffic. He, however, proved to be the only workman I encountered on this part of the job who knew what he was doing, recognized what had gone wrong, and made a twice or thrice botched job (depending on how you count!) finally function properly. I didn't do my homework on price, but paid more than I was happy to pay, particularly since I lost work/vacation time of parts of 5 days, and experienced no end of frustration. (I'd say that it should have taken only two visits, one to measure, and one to install.) In fairness, Sears took $150 off my bill, but, to me, it was too little, too late. To top it off, when I went to redeem a "gift card" in the amount of $250 (which tells me that the price was inflated by at least that amount!), to pay, as intended, for another Sears purchase, the card was refused. It may have "expired" according to someone I spoke to at the point of sale, since, pending the successful resolution of the problems described, I didn't use it until about a year after it was issued. I'm still trying to figure out where that went wrong. All I know is that my balance for that card now reads 4,374 points, which should have gone toward the purchase I completed with my Visa credit card. To avoid the loss of that balance, I now must make another purchase from Sears. In spite of the good job done on the floors, and the good will and expertise of the final workman adjusting the shower door, I will not use Sears Home Improvement services ever again, and will warn anyone in the greater Hartford, CT area who may ask me not to use them.

My 30+ year old original framed sliders were showing their age and the sharp and narrow frame tracks were difficult to keep clean. I comparison shopped at three different shower enclosure designers. CT Shower & Bath's selection, presentation, prices and all-inclusive services were impressive. CT Shower & Bath professionals came to my home to measure the spaces; I ordered two 3/8 inch thick Easco Image Plus slider sets which took about 3 weeks to arrive. I scheduled a removal and delivery appointment one week later. The installer arrived on time, removed old sliders from the premises and installed the new frameless doors. The quality of the new doors, installation/removal work and impeccable clean-up were superb. I highly recommend CT Shower & Bath to others.

DBaybrook Remodelers Inc
This remodeling was really a tale of two cities. The work performed by the subcontractors was of top-notch quality. We were very happy with the floor and tile work. The problem was (is) the length of the job Being a smaller job, I prepared my wife for it t take a month or month and a half since I expected Baybrook would need to fit us in between their larger jobs. However, Baybrook started at the beginning of March and as of August 6 (today) they are still not done. Although it is very pretty to look at,  the new master shower is unsable as they have not installed the right hardware (shower head) and the hardware they installed in the interim is not working. So basically we have been down to one shower for over 5 months.  We were without use of 2 of our three toilets for three months and our downstairs living room was piled with Kitchen and Dining room furniture for three months. We finally moved a lot of it back in ourselves in order to have some friends over.   It appears to be a management problem, every time a an issue/mistake occurred they seemed incapable of recovering. For example, they built the shower to the wrong specifications originally and had to make some small modifications so they could put a door on the shower, this took weeks to occur. This type of issue happened a number of times. I do not know if this is a general problem, or they just cannot handle smaller jobs (contrary to their claims). My best advice is that if you contract with them, have some significant penalties in the contract based on the time it takes.   Interestingly the only person who has ever apologized to us for the time this has taken was the shower door installer, who is not a Baybrook employee. On the positive side, one area they were always timely on was collecting money, someone was always willing to drop by on a moments notice to get a check.
