Recent Review: Kelli was SUPER helpful in explaining their process.  They have NO contract, just a monthly fee that you pay, like your car insurance bill.  You HOPE you never need to use it, but IF you do.....then it is sure nice to have that coverage.  Also, there is NOT a $75.00 service call fee every time you need to have a repair person visit your home.  Just the usual monthly fee, which is based upon your choice of available plans and options that you select when you sign up.  Basically, you only pay for what you need and you are not double, or triple billed for services from an UNknowledgeable or UNskilled service technician at a time you can least afford it.  Their service plans are clearly explained on their web site ((( https://www.completeprotection.net/ ))), and they also CLEARLY explain their limits on replacements on their web site as well.  Keep in mind, they seem to be more REPAIR ORIENTED rather than for REPLACEMENTS and if your item is too old or unworthy of repair, they will pay only a small portion towards a replacement item.  The small amount they do pay towards the replacement if you need it, is listed on the web site.  This helps to keep their fees down as well ! ! !  Another nice feature is that they have a list of repair companies that they will give you, so you can call and schedule your own repair, once you have a Repair Authorization Number from CAP.  The repair companies they suggest are familiar with the CAP process, and will bill CAP directly for the work.  Now if you have a favorite service provider that you prefer to use, that is no problem.  If that provider is unfamiliar with billing CAP, you can pay the provider yourself and CAP reimburses you within 10 to 14 days from the time they receive your bill.  (((Just remember to get the Repair Authorization Number from CAP BEFORE having your work done.)))  Also nice, is if you have an older home, they don't seem to have all the exclusions we read about from the other companies.       We have a home in Henderson, Nevada that we plan to rent out this fall.  We want the tenants to have reliable and trustworthy service folks available to them if they need someone.  We have read the horror stories on Angie's List, for some of the other Home Warranty options out there and some of the service providers as well.  (((You know the ones......service provider is called and MAYBE shows up when expected, or maybe not.  MAYBE they fix the problem for the $75.00 service call fee, maybe not.  MAYBE the problem is fixed this week, next week, or maybe not at all.))) Also, even though our home is new, we want to limit our financial exposure for any HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and Appliance problems.  We live out of state, but still want our tenants to get quality service when necessary.  For us anyway, the choice is clear.  Complete Appliance Repair.   Oh yeah, and Angie's List of course !! Reviews in Haddam Neck for Installing Lightning Protection Systems

ASOUND ELECTRIC LLC
While putting up the outside Christmas lights this year on our home in Simsbury, I was alarmed to find that the insulation on our service entrance cable had rotted away, allowing water to leak into our meter and inside panel. This had been a concern from when we first purchased the house four years ago, but I had patched a few holes and forgotten about it. Not this time. I realized I had to bite the bullet and have the cable, meters, and panel replaced. I found Sound Electric via Angie's List and after reading the glowing reviews that Jeremy received I gave him a call and had him come out to give me an estimate. Jeremy came out a week or so before Christmas, surveyed the situation, and explained what would need to be done. When he quoted me the price, I almost fainted. Not because it was too high, but because it was so reasonable. Jeremy's quote of $1600 to replace the service entrance cable, meter, and main panel, adding dual lightning rods and upgrading our service from 100-amp to 200-amp was literally half what the electrician who came by during our home inspection in 2005 had quoted me for the same job. Adding a whole-home surge protection device brought the total cost up to $1800; still an amazing bargain. We scheduled the work for the Monday after Christmas (12-28). Jeremy arrived promptly at 8:00 AM that morning and got right down to business on the outside work, despite the off-and-on snow and sleet we were getting. Within three hours all the outside work was done and Jeremy was downstairs, taking out the old panel and untangling a mess of confusing, patchwork wiring. By 2:00 PM the new panel was in and we had power back. A couple of hours after that he had finished tidying up and labeling everything and was ready to hit the road. It was about as quick and painless an experience as we could have possibly hoped for. In addition to doing the installation, Jeremy arranged for the electrical inspector's visit and the installation of our new meter by the power company. I didn't have to lift a finger or call anyone. The work he did looks phenomenal. Everything is nice and neat and tight looking. Jeremy's attention to detail is first rate, and seeing the care he took with every step of the job (yes, I was pestering him a good deal of the time) really put me at ease. If you need work done on your home's electrical system, Jeremy is your man. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Not only did Ken quickly and efficiently pinpoint the issue in the garage and restored power, he also assisted me on the spot with a project that I had been struggling with for days, the installation of a new microwave to replace the one lost in the lightning strike. I didn't ask him for help with it, he saw the microwave sitting on the table and offered right there and then to give me a hand with it. I couldn't be happier with Ken and the work that he did. He is prompt, efficient, courteous, and extremely competent at his trade. I couldn't ask for better, and I will be reaching out to him for all of my electrical needs. I offer my highest possible recommendation.

Al was very professional and very pleasant to deal with. He explained what needed to be done and would not proceed until I understood what had to be done. All our outside lightning fixtures had rusted so badly that they needed to be replaced. Al was very pleasant and easy to deal with. He explained everything that needed to be done. He made some very good suggestions to resolve our problem and then made the necessary repairs I would highly recommend his services.

Joseph Gurga is the owner. He showed up with the two technicians on time and told them what was to be done. They had to remove an old system and replaced wiring where needed. Some areas we used wireless. It took about a day and half to complete. the job. They did an excellent job. They were neat gentlemen, cleaned up after themselves, and very professional. When the job was complete Joe Gurga stopped by to be sure everything was completed to our satisfaction. Bottom line is we were very pleased and would highly reccommend Sterling Security to our friends and anyone else who needs a system.

The alarm system works.  I don't have any real complaints.  I don't have any interaction with them except while paying bills.  The quality is okay.

First the good: The up front cost cant be beat since all of the sensors and control panel were no cost to cover 20 doors and windows.  Installation was pretty straight forward and the phone reps were fairly knowledgeable and professional.  I added a couple features like an extra key pad, siren and glass break sensors that cost aprox $350.  The extras were a little pricey but compared to the $2000 another provided quoted, it was still a deal. The control panel is cellular based so cutting your phone lines will not effect the alarm. Now the not so good: The quality of the sensors has not been very good.  I have had 2 DOA when the packages arrived new and 2 failed within several days.  When I contacted Protect America they were very nice about sending me new ones, but it took weeks and a couple calls before I saw the first replacements.  The second set of replacements that arrived for the failed units ended up being the wrong sensors.  Their shipping department does not seem to have good quality control.  The next very annoying element is the wait time on the phone when you are trying to get anything set up.  I spent a couple hours on hold working through the set up the first time and at least an hour the second time when I installed the replacement sensors. Some cautions; make sure you hide the main control panel because if an intruder disables it before the alarm has sounded for 60 seconds, the police may not be notified.  Also they only call to check if everything is ok if the alarm is not canceled for 60 seconds.  So you can not be sure if the signal is getting through. Monthly monitoring fee is high, but since the system was intially free, even after 3 years it is still the cheaper route. Now that I have the equipment, once our contract is expired I will find a different alarm provider that responds to every alarm.

I was really impressed with how much the two young men got done in only one hour. I hadn't thought up enough tasks to fill the entire two hours - I really wish I had! My only complaint is that I had to pay $5 for some part that was needed for something, I don't even remember what. But I was told after the work was done. As a customer I'd prefer to be told/asked before work is done about any additional charges. So I'd say as a customer, preface any of the work with "is any of this going to cost me anything extra?"
