SAYBROOK ROOFING
Recent Review: Nick and his crew are great. They had a lot of difficulty starting because of the rainy spring, but once started, they moved quickly and steadily and got the work done. They cleaned up well--only found one nail on the driveway, which is pretty good for a complete roofing job. I would definitely use them again!

DiGiorgi Roofing & Siding Inc
Recent Review: Di Giorgi Roofing & Siding Incorporated was impressive because they weren't hesitant at all to do such a high roof. Some other companies I checked with didn't want to go up that high. Everything went well. They came when they said they would and did an efficient and high quality job. I thought their price was very fair.

Recent Review: We experienced wind damage and the metal covering over the fascia board was ripped off on one side of the house (~45 feet). I called 4 roofing companies the next morning (all were on Angie's List) and M+J was the only one that responded. He came out that afternoon and was able to price the work then and there, and begin repairs the next morning. They also better secured the fascia cover on the other side of the house. The workmanship and materials used were of high quality, and even better than that was original to the house. They also removed the old metal for us. Great experience all around.

AEverlast Construction LLC
The entire process went smoothly.  The estimate was given to us on the same day as the initial evaluation.  The schedule for the project was adjusted a few times due to weather but Mike and his crew arrived as scheduled and finished the project in the estimated 2 days.  The crew was clean, courteous and diligent workers. Before and after the project Mike returned to our home several times to take measurements, verify the installation and check on its condition.  After a few heavy rains and some snowfall I have complete faith in the product that he designed and installed; we would definitely use Everlast as a contractor in the future.

The project got off to a good start.  The materials arrived when expected and work began on schedule.  The crew worked quickly, generally did good work, and cleaned up the site.  Unfortunately, the measure of a company is how they respond when things don't go as planned. While nailing the new roof in place, nails broke through the ceiling into the living roof, bedroom, and a closet.  The problem wasn't discovered until I got home one day and found holes in the ceiling in approximately 50 places.  M & J personnel acknowledged their error and agreed to pay to repair the damaged sections.  But they didn't handle just the repair and 'make it right' which I think they should have done.  Instead, we had to find someone who could repair the damage, get the estimate, and then get M & J to accept some financial responsibility. The problem was that the damaged area was a relatively small area (about 1/4 of the size) of a very large (1,000 Sq. Feet) room.  M & J's position was that they would pay to have it repaired to match as closely as possible, even though the repairs would clearly be visible. There was no way to match the old boards that had been there for who knows how long.    In the end, they credited us for less than half of what it cost to replace the entire ceiling with matching material.  Having just spend $37K on a new roof, we unexpectedly found ourselves shelling out money that we hadn't budgeted to replace an interior ceiling.  M & J covered part of the cost, but I wasn't happy having to do the legwork, or paying out-of-pocket, to get a fully repaired ceiling.

AM & J Roofing LLC
These guys are really good. Louie came out and did the initial estimate back in April 2014. We knew when we bought the home that it would need a new roof (it was apparent prior to the home inspection), but at the time we were just price shopping. Louie quoted us a price, provided us with copies of his license and insurance, and gave us samples of the shingles in a nicely prepared folder (nobody else did this). The quote was written on site and he ensured us that it would not be any higher unless there was some underlying wood rot. We received 5 estimates - two from Chester, CT roofers and 2 others from other roofers. All prices were within $1500 of each other (except for the Chester Roofing - who was several thousand higher then everyone else for less work). We ultimately decided to go with Louie because he seemed down to earth, made job suggestions others didn't, he wasn't pushy, and he was the most thorough in his presentation. Fast forward to September 2014 and we were finally ready to get the roof replaced. Louie came back out within 2 days of being called and discussed the job with me again. He estimated a start time of 2 weeks with a total job time of 2 days. We agreed on the price, added a few other details (replace the old, rotten facia along a dormer and replace the old, broken crown molding along the roof line) and signed the contract. 1 week later Louis called me and advised that he had an opening and would like to start the job the following day. I gave him the green light and his crew arrived at the house at 0800 that morning. Within less then 3 hrs, they had the roof fully stripped. Louie was on the job site with his crew during this time, and ensured everything went smooth. We left to run errands (3 week old baby in the house and 2 barking dogs) and when we returned at 1800, everything was completed except the gutters. The job site was cleaned and Louie was present with his crew, helping with final projects. The following day, the crew crew returned to install the gutters/gutter guards and to replace a small area of wood rot along the dormer.   A day later we noticed that some debris fell down our range hood vent and they returned to vacuum it out, and advised that the existing vent was smaller then it should've been (installed by our contractor during a kitchen renovation), so they installed a larger exhaust vent free of charge. Louie followed up to ensure we were satisfied with the job when everything was complete - which we were/are. There was no existing damage to the original tongue and groove roof, so the price did not change at all from the quote. I am happy to show off my new roof. It made a huge visual impact over the pre-existing roof.

AJohn Hardy Roofing LLC
John Hardy and two co-workers removed deteriorated cedar shingle roof, installed 1/2" construction under-layment, applied ice & water barrier sheeting over entire roof (main, wing, first floor extension and alcoves), applied GAF 30-year fiberglas asphalt shingles over new under-layment, finished drip line and rake edges with appropriately-sized metal molding. Job pricing was competitive. Final invoice was same as quoted. House is in historic district. Plan had to be approved in advance by Historic District Commission. Job passed (without qualifications) subsequent inspections by HDC and building inspector. Last summer, Hardy & Crew showed up to do the job when scheduled, worked through hottest week of Summer 2013 to complete the job as planned within the five days scheduled, did a thorough clean-up of grounds, removed all old roofing and related construction materials. Most important: the result. Roof did not leak at all during winter storms of 2014. John Hardy and his team are friendly, hard-working, didn't waste time, answered all questions, explained what was to be done - we couldn't be more satisfied with their work or workmanship. We recommend them without qualification for residential roofing.
