Recent Review: Dishwasher is fixed and they recommended that I could replace another part on dishwasher myself (they were happy to do it, but they were willing to help me save money because it was a simple part to replace.)

Recent Review: They were the first to be able to work with my demanding schedule...one of the reasons I went with them, and quoted me a $65 initial consultation fee to include the 1st hour of labor. The mechanic was at my house on time and for only 10 minutes...problem diagnosed (I had recently had my sink basin replaced and the plumbers did not re-open the water valve to the dishwasher....hence why my dishes came out dirty). Yet, for my stupidity...in not checking that first, I was out $65...but fair enough. So I can't really comment on the quality of work they do, just their competency in diagnosing the problem, which was quick and excellent!

Recent Review: I checked Angie's List for a dishwasher repair person. Shane's Applicance Repair had an A rating and was said to be affordable. On Oct. 18, I checked the website, found the repair prices, and sent Shane a message that our dishwasher needed repair. The next day, Shane's wife called to schedule an appointment for the 21st between 2-4pm. Shane called about 3:50pm on the 21st to say he was within 10 minutes of our house. He arrived with a minute to spare. Within a few seconds of removing the panel from the dishwasher door, Shane thought he had found the problem why our dishwasher was stopping mid-cycle: an electrical contact that had popped out of its brackets--but he check all electrical components that were possible to check without tearing apart the motor, just to make sure something else wasn't wrong. Also, when Shane removed the inside panel of the door, there was dishwasher soap caked all over the door--which Shane said could have shorted out wires. I washed off the door panel in my shower and Shane applied some special sealant around the soap box--which evidently had a missing gasket. While he was working on the dishwasher, I remembered that I had been having trouble with the fridge (freezing vegetables and then getting too warm). I asked Shane why a fridge would do that, and he said he would check the frost pattern in the freezer and asked if I had vacuumed the coils lately. I hadn't--and the coils were very dirty! Shane explained the importance of vacuuming the coils annually, so that the fridge ran efficiently and to lengthen the life of the fridge. While the dishwasher was running, Shane vacuumed the fridge coils and checked the frost pattern--for no extra charge. The frost pattern was "perfect"--and the fridge has been working perfectly since being vacuumed. So for just the cost of the service call ($65), Shane got my dishwasher running again, and prevented possibly worse problems in both my dishwasher and fridge! Shane was very knowledgeable, efficient, thorough, and pleasant to have in our home. We will definitely call him if we ever have any more appliance problems!!!

Incredible lack of service.  Here is the timeline. Monday, 3/31  - I notified the property manager that dishwasher was not draining.  She informed me later in the day that Reliable had been notified and would contact me for an appointment. Thursday, 4/3 - I had not heard from Reliable so I called them.  The man checked his email and said, "Oh, I guess we need to make an appointment."  He said he could not get me in until the following Monday. Monday, 4/7 - Repairman arrived and checked out the dishwasher.  He said he had no doubt that the machine wasn't draining due to a faulty pump but he wanted to run it through a full cycle and see what happened.  He would call me in two hours to find out what the results were.  I pushed him for details and he said if the dishwasher did not drain, he would provide an estimate on replacing the pump to the property manager.  And if it did drain,  he would provide an estimate on replacing the pump to the property manager.  (No, that is not a typo)  When I questioned him on that logic and asked why he didn't just give an estimate since the next step was the same, he became belligerent.  The end result was the dishwasher did not drain  which I reported to him when he called three and a half hours later.  (The homeowner opted to replace the dishwasher) Monday, 4/14 - Reliable called to say the new washer had arrived but they had ordered the wrong one.  The correct one was being ordered that day. Friday, 4/18 - The correct washer was installed. From beginning to end, this process took just short of three weeks.  I would not call them reliable. .

AReliable Appliance
The tech who came out was prompt, cheerful and professional.  When he told us the cost for repairing the stove, he added we might consider buying a new one instead.  We appreciated that advice and decided to wait on repairing the stove.  We had the dishwasher repaired: they ordered us a replacement part, which came in sooner than expected and got the repair done quickly.  All in all, a good experience.
