Reviews in Watkins to Install Chair Lift

BBathPerfect by Accessible Systems
It was okay. A bit bummed about the weight issue. The weight limit is 300 lbs. Chair is for parents, but sometimes my sister comes over and needs chair use, but she weighs 320lbs. Salesman said the extra 20lbs wouldn't be a big deal on occasion, but then installer said it WOULD be an issue as the warranty won't cover any damage that may be sustained if used by someone over 300 lbs. By time installer told me this, it was a bit late to cancel installation. To upgrade to the next weight level would be an extra $1,000. "Acorn Stairlifts" would have done the upgrade for an extra ONE HUNDRED dollars. That was a bummer. I really wanted my sis to be able to use the chair, too, if needed, as her RA limits her use of stairs considerably. Due to the conflicting information about the weight limit, the chair was half way through installation and I had already paid half down ($ 1450 ) by the time I learned the truth. That sucked. The chair is fine for my parents and team was professional, but if I had known my sis couldn't use the chair, I would've gone with Acorn instead.

AParamount Remodeling Company Inc
This was a fairly large home remodel and addition project. Paramount did an outstanding job and I would certainly hire them again. My project involved the removal of an exterior wall and the placement of a beam in that wall to extend the house. It was complicated, and it needed firepower and expertise, which these guys had. They did an excellent job and nothing was too complicated for them. They maintain constant communications with rapid callbacks and with their mobile app. The mobile app also keeps the homeowner abreast of all change orders and the status of the project. Importantly, the mobile app keeps a constant watch of the total project cost. Overall, these guys were fabulous and I would highly recommend them.

The first thing I said in my description of my project was that it is a mobile home. Then I was sent the names of companies that would contact me. JM electric never contacted me so I called them. They said they don't work on mobile homes.

Fixing and replacing power lines.  We had a power line outage in the mobile home park.  We called them and they responded quickly.  They fixed the problem and had the power up within a 24 hour period.

They did a fabulous job. They took out a wall and combined my dining room into my kitchen. I put in new appliances and flooring. I was very pleased with their work. At one point they also installed an elevator in our home for our handicapped son.

AHandyman Matters Inc
This was supposed to be our 30th wedding anniversary "present" (August 2012) and it became our Christmas present (December 2012). The contractor was very professional but our project start got delayed by more than a month. Then the contractor had some serious medical issues and his son finally stepped in and took over the job (late September); then there was  a dispute between the contractor and the workers he hired/then fired (late Oct.- early Nov.) then there were the expected delays from the City of Westminster inspections - they didn't know what to make of our building - it wasn't "REGULAR" and didn't fit into regular inspection criteria - i.e. it wasn't an insulated room even though it was attached to the back of our house.  Bottom line, this contractor just kept plugging away and we are totally THRILLED with the final outcome (December 4, 2012).

AMZ Electric
MZ Electric is an excellent company.  From the bid process all the way through to completion, Keith and his crew did a great job. On his initial visit when he provided a bid, Keith was thorough and detailed inspecting the setup to ensure that there wouldn't be any surprises, complications, or additional cost later on.  He followed up with a phone call to ensure that we had received the email bid. It became clear very quickly that this would be the company we were going to choose.  The work was scheduled for 7AM on Thursday and Keith showed up early and  ready to go.  He and his crew began work right away and completed the job on time and as scheduled (4pm). At the completion of the work, they made sure to clean up the site. All in all, a good experience.

FFour Ace Electrical Services Corp
The appt. was easy to make, electrician was friendly and showed up on time. Prior to making the appt. I mentioned to the office this was a mobile home, because I understand there are nuances with mobile homes. At time of the appt. it went down hill quickly. First the electrician did not have a ladder and if he did perform the work he would have needed to go back to his office to get one. Second, they said they would need to re-schedule because it would be a two person job to handle the security light and floor outlet, and needed to order the floor outlet part. Curious to know why they did not tell me they needed to order the floor outlet while making the appointment. The electrician looked at the job and he hemmed and hawed during the entire evaluation process and spoke noncommittally avoiding giving a direct answer. After the electrician spoke with his office (3 different times) the office, Four Ace Electrical, decided they did not want to do the work and quoted me 8 hours of service just to do the security light and suggested this was not the right job for them. They were also going to charge me $185.00 to replace a switch in the bedroom. They said this was their minimum charge for any job - can't blame them for having a minimum charge, but they should have said this over the phone while I was making the appt. After the electrician spent 45 minutes hemming and hawing over the work, wasting my time they would not negotiate a lower minimum charge for the bedroom switch nor did any work. I can't speak to their quality of work because they did not do any work. However I did get another quote and finished worked from another electrician for all three projects in a fraction of time 4 hours: Security light, floor outlet and bedroom switch. The other electrician was not an Angies List electrician.
