Recent Review: We hired kbstudio as a contractor/designer for a master bedroom remodel. The total job based on sub-contractor invoices came to approximately $65,000.00. By December, kbstudios was paid $75,800.00 for this work. To date, kbstudio has paid the sub-contractors less than one-third of the funds given to it. Cynthia Adams, kbstudio owner, pocketed the rest .i.e. approximately $60,000.00. When confronted with the evidence, kbstudio refused to pay or complete the work and informed the subcontractors that the homeowners had not paid kbstudio. Consequently, we now have mechanics liens on our home totaling approximately $20,000.00. Our home is unfinished ($12,000.00 left to complete). We have secured an attorney and have subpoenaed her bank accounts and list of sub-contractors to verify this accusation. In the process of interviewing other sub-contractors, it was discovered that they and previous homeowners had experienced this same problem; most notably, lack of payment to subcontractors. We are also currently working with the Jefferson County DA to possibly try this case at a criminal level for theft. Although this case is underway, it is very important that others are aware of kbstudio/Cynthia Adam?s poses this risk for other homeowners. If you have a service that notifies people of companies with potential risks, please add kbstudio/Cynthia Adams to this list.
