Reviews in Severance to Install or Replace Heat Pumps

ACT Heating and AC Inc
They found that a part for the heat pump needed to be replaced, but the AC works with out it. They explained this and said unless we really need/want the heat pump they wouldn't replace it, saving us ~$250.

AAire Serv of Northern Colorado
I recently got estimates from a half-dozen HVAC companies for the installation of a full ducted heat-pump system into an home that did not have it - a retrofit. Though I ultimately chose a different company for the project, AireServ really impressed me with the quality of their proposal. I submitted a request on their website and they called me about one minute later. They came out the next morning. They were good listeners and the system they recommended was exactly what I wanted (in contrast to several competitors). They evaluated my house thoroughly, looking at all aspects of exactly how the system would be installed, as well as sizing the system properly with all factors considered. The price they quoted me was not the lowest, but it was far from being the highest. If you are considering a project, I recommend at least getting a bid from these guys.

CTri City Heating & Air Conditioning Inc.
I recently got estimates from a half-dozen HVAC companies for the installation of a full ducted heat-pump system into an home that did not have it - a retrofit. Tri-City was mid-pack among them. After I submitted a request for a quote, they called me back fairly quickly and were able to come out two days later. Just being honest here: the guy who came out didn't impress me very much, but at least he wasn't fake sales-guy friendly. He probably did gather all information needed for the estimate, but there were certain details about register placement and return placement that some other estimators did a better job with. Later, when I got the written estimate, it had more options than any other - a good thing; giving me the customer the chance to choose on the spectrum of cost vs. efficiency and features. Pricing was competitive with most other estimates and way better than at least one. If you are considering a project, it's probably worth your time to get a quote from Tri-City.

CFort Collins Heating & Air Conditioning
I recently got estimates from a half-dozen HVAC companies for the installation of a full ducted heat-pump system into an home that did not have it - a retrofit. Fort Collins Heating & Air Conditioning called me back within minutes of my submitting a quote request, and they came out the same morning - impressive. The guy who came out was dressed professionally and was notably friendly. However, his proposal was the only one that required two outdoor units and quite a bit of exterior hoses and wiring, which I had said I wanted to minimize. Pricing was also a problem; the estimate was, by far, the highest I received. I continued to like the estimator throughout the process, but the truth is that the quote was not competitive. This was the "Cadillac" of the companies I spoke to: the cost of a permit was included, they guarantee in writing that you'll pay only the estimated price, no matter what, and they have a final, separate quality inspection that nobody else does (or at least mentions). There's no doubt in my mind that these guys do a good job, and if that's all you care about, by all means give them a shot.

ACooper Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electric
I purchased this through Costco and got their best, Lennox and it came with a heat pump. They were really good. I'd give them an "A" for everything.

AMcCormick Heating and Cooling
Great. Nick Diagnosed an electrical wiring issue, and repaired in the spot. $75.00. Worked like a charm. Prior company said $2k for a new control board, and possibly $6k for new unit altogether. Thanks Nick! You’ll be my go-to guy from now in

APoudre Valley Air
I was given an estimate that included all costs.  On the day the work was done, they successfully replaced the furnace and installed the heat pump, staying late to finish the job.

FBuckhorn Heating And Air Conditioning
I recently got estimates from a half-dozen HVAC companies for the installation of a full ducted heat-pump system into an home that did not have it - a retrofit. Buckhorn finished dead last. Craig, the owner(!), pulled up to the house (late), opens the door, and says in a flat tone, "What have we got?". No introducing himself, no effort to be friendly. Then he kind of walks around the house and takes a perfunctory glance in the attic. By now I'm starting to think that he's just going through the motions. I'm following him around, smelling the cigarette smoke on his breath. He proposes a mini-split system, which is easier to install but not as attractive in appearance as a ducted system. After becoming certain that a ducted system is what I want, I let him know, and his reply is "do you want a written estimate for a ducted system?", and I'm like yes of course if you want the business. He never replies. My time spent on these guys was completely wasted.

AAire Serv of Boulder
Once we decided to go with Aire Serv, we had a whole new heat pump system 48 hours later. Grant, Kirk, and Deon were all very polite, professional, knowledgable, clean and quick.  We've had zero problems or questions since install.  Everything just works!

AFort Collins Heating & Air Conditioning
Called them out for a semi-annual maintenance checkup before turning on my air conditioning.  Pete was wonderful; friendly, personable, yet professional. He checked my furnace, the heat pump, and even the humidifier.  He did very nice work. The only real issue is that because I live in Greeley, they charge an extra trip charge. so the total for just this visit was $141.00. That's certainly a lot more than many of the $49 specials that I see advertised everywhere.  But, as I reported before, I'm not doing that again!!  You get what you pay for....
