Recent Review: The hail storm of July 13 trashed our roof to a point where it was no longer serviceable. We were interested in a roofing system that would be visually distinctive like cedar shakes without the drawbacks. Metal roofing systems made sense as an option due to their resistance to wind and hail, their lighter weight, and their visual distinctiveness. We found that Horn Bros. had installed many Gerard roofs in Fort Collins and that their customers were almost universally pleased, both with the Gerard roof and with Horn Bros. service. The job took 4 days from start to finish. The Horn Bros. crew left remarkably little debris around the property -- in the past, we had found stray shingle pieces and roofing nails years after a re-roof. It has been our experience that contractors who pay attention to the little things typically get the big things right, and Horn Bros. certainly fits that bill. They even corrected a flashing installation problem that was missed by the folks who installed the original roof! I would use Horn Bros. again, but this roof won't have to be replaced for quite some time! The only negative I can offer is about the cost of metal roof compared to asphalt shingles or cedar shakes -- if you are replacing a cedar roof you will likely have some additional expense beyond what your insurance company may reimburse; you'll have to determine if the other benefits of metal roofing systems are worth the expense. If your current roof is asphalt, the upgrade charge will be much higher.

Recent Review: We recently selected 4-Corners Roofing & Sheet Metal over three competitors  to re-roof two private homes (50-year asphalt shingles to replace cedar shakes)  in Durango, CO.  Each job was completed in 8 - 10 days.  We found 4-Corners to be reasonable on price, easy to deal with, responsive to the agreed start date (weather permitting), efficient, diligent, conscientious about clean-up and well-supervised.  We are extremely pleased with the process and the result and would strongly recommend 4-Corners to other interested homeowners.

Recent Review: Brandon Young was our roofer. Brandon visited a number of other houses in our area to help us select singles that we liked. The job was done on schedule and on budget. Other bids for the same work were up to twice as expensive.  A small leak became apparent 2 years after the original work.  Brandon came out to inspect the roof, removed snow and correct the issue on the day we told him about the problem - all at no charge.

Recent Review: They worked with our schedule and came on time. It was a large crew. In less than a week they installed the entire roof, and we have a large roof. They were very professional, organized and worked very fast. When they left we didn't have to go around and do cleanup after them. It was all clean. We are very satisfied with their work, the quality of the product, and the communication. All requested paperwork, forms and insurance were sent immediately. Just a great company. We have recommended them to our friends and associates.

Recent Review: 1. I had a new asphalt shingle roof installed by TL Roofing in 2008. Bad roof. New shingles were installed over the old shingles. TL told me they no longer re-roof over old shingles as this method is prone to failure. 2. The roof developed a leak. TL charged me to fix it 3 times over 2 years but it continued to leak. TL acknowledged that the leak was caused by an improperly installed flashing. 3. Rather than attempt another repair TL sent a price for a whole new roof. They admitted the problems were due to their work BUT would not give any reduction in the price of a new roof or for any repairs for their errors. 4. I have lost all confidence in the company and had the repairs done by another contractor who did the repairs in a timely and workmanlike manner. The contractor also told me that the original shingles were in poor condition and new shingles should not have been installed over the old roof. The contractor confirmed that the leak was due to improperly installed flashing.

Recent Review: The crew that did the work, Harlan, Frankie and Jose, was phenomenal. Extremely detail oriented, honest work ethic, and extraordinary professionalism made this team one to remember. This team should represent the gold standard for the service industry, without a doubt. Our roof had 3 layers of shingles, the most recent one applied in the 1950s. The roof itself is very steep and covers a tiny home, 650 square feet. The crew had to trim away tree branches to access the roof, then pull off existing shingles. They used wheel barrows to haul the debris to their truck, since there is no way to place a container near the house or to park next to the house due to its location up the side of a canyon wall. Once that was done, it became obvious that the original construction of the house did not include a solid decking for the application of shingles. Therefore, they had to build a deck over the entire house. They were conscientious about progressing and stopping each day at a point where the roof was well covered over night. We never had any trouble with any leaking during the 16 day period the work was in progress. They also repaired and replaced other areas of concern as they uncovered them. They even suggested and executed a custom made copper cover for a large, exposed pine beam that extends from the patio through the interior of the house as an additional house support. The end result is gorgeous. We undoubtedly have the most pristine and precisely laid roof in the entire town, if not entire state! I cannot recommend this company highly enough.

Recent Review: Troost did a great job.  Dave was super responsive in answering questions and helping us get our service scheduled (I don't think any response took more than an hour!).  The guys that did the actual work were friendly and professional and they always cleaned up after each day.  The new roof looks great!

FBennick's Roofing
I had the roof inspected half way through the process. Bennick's was doing a very unprofessional job. They had cut out the propanel to go around the vents in the roof twice as big as needed, so there were areas where there was no metal for a 18" square area. They covered the shingles with tar. When we complained that we didn't want tar on our roof. We wanted the job to be professional looking, Mr. Bennick stated he would redo it. The next day he had someone on the roof using gasoline to try to clean off some of the tar, and he still continued to do the remaining vents in a manner that they were not sealed and the roof was going to leak. When questioned about it, he yelled at me and then he started cussing. I fired him from the job and got someone else to finish it. The new people that did the roof were appalled at what kind of job a "professional" roofer would have done. Nothing was sealed, it was going to leak, and it looked horrible. When Bennick's was doing the job, they needed to move the swamp cooler. They cut the wires to the swamp cooler and left them that way. When questioned about it, they lied and said they did not cut the wires. When we got a master electrician here to fix it, the electrician said it was obvious they had cut the wires -- all of this with the electricity on. This could have been a fire risk.

DKarbowski Construction
1. Job went very badly. -Estimate was very sketchy and not detailed enough to really describe all the work. -What was told verbally by his estimator was denied by Rick Karbowski when he didn't do the work promised. -Company did not seem to know how to engineer the electrical heat-tape lengths. Had to have it done by an Elecrical Engineer and then give them instructions on how to do it. It seemed like they were "winging" the job. 2. Had to fire Karbowski's carpenters. We found some rotten wood behind the siding that was being replaced and they said it was too complicated for them to replace the rotten wood. Had to hire 2 carpenters separate from Karbowski Construction to replace rotten wood. Had to fire Karbowski's carpenters after 1 1/2 days on job. They seemed incompetent to us. Hired 2 other independent carpenters to finish siding. 3. Could not get the owner of Karbowski Construction to give any validity to our concerns about the job, how it was being done, and the problems we experienced. 4. Original estimate was for $9,394. He billed for $11,431. Finally settled and paid them $10,936. If using Karbowski Construction I recommend the following: - Get a very DETAILED cost estimate and anything they tell you have it put in writing - Get an agreement in writing that any cost above the estimate must be approved in writing by you.

ATROOST ROOFING
Prompt estimate with cost of both standard and impact resistant architectural asphalt shingles and roof venting system (which had not been installed on roof previously).Troost removed existing wood shake shingles on entire house and attached wood-storage shed and hauled all away, installed water and ice shield and reflashed the chimney, walls and pipes, installed metal drip edges along house eaves, installed vented roof system and did the entire job in less than two days. Fair and reasonable negotiation of installation date and price and job was completed on time and at date and time agreed. Very professional job and I would use the services of Troost roofing again and recommend to a friend.
