Our mom's roof had a leak and Kevin McCarthy of Excel came out, quickly inspected it, and gave a verbal estimate of $1,500-2,000 to be followed the next day by a formal quote via email (after checking on availability of the tiles, anticipating needing two dozen, said to be very expensive). We never received the formal quote and never head from them again. So we contacted another roofer (a local small business owner with 20+ years experience, Reynolds Roofing), who fully inspected the roof, discovering the real cause of the leak (which Excel mis-diagnosed), and identified other issues worth fixing too (some missing flashing, a loose duct, an exposed gap along a gutter line). They fixed all the issues - and replaced approx 50 tiles - and their entire cost was $1,500 which included all materials (turns out the same tiles are only $8/ea), and a 3yr warranty. Excel is a large shop and probably better-suited for large apartment and condo (and commercial) properties, who can afford their overhead. But for your own roof (or a family member's, in our case), I'd recommend looking elsewhere for quality work at a reasonable price. Note: we have no affiliation with, nor had previously been in contact with either Excel or Reynolds.
