Recent Review: I greatly enjoyed working with Robert.  Though the weather was not on our side for this project (was supposed to be done during the horrible flooding that Colorado had awhile back) he constantly kept in touch with updates and times of when he would be able to get the supplies needed for the job.  Once things calmed down he and his crew were here to complete the job.  My sidewalk turned out beautifully and I have recommended him to several of my neighbors.  It is a family owned company and I really like the communication and professionalism that Robert provided.

Recent Review: Our stamped concrete sidewalk cracked in three places. I have emailed numerous times and I can not get them back out to the house to take care of these cracks. They came out one time last year but never followed up to fix the cracks. I am ready to file a report with BBB. The cracks happened right after they poured the sidewalk. I have a friend who has the same problem with them difference service. I will not recommend this company unless they show some customer service and fix the cracks plus the way they finished the sides of the sidewalk was very sloppy. I don't think I am being unreasonable. Pictures are attached.

Recent Review: Bryan and his team was great to work with. As a paralyzed person in a power wheelchair, my needs were different than typical. They worked with me to widen the pathway where needed and got the elevation and grade just right. There had to remove my gate to do the work, and they modified it to accommodate the new walkway. They even repaired and replaced some previously damaged boards do my gate is better than it was before. The pathway was very narrow at one point between our AC unit and a fence post. They were able to adjust the AC unit to give me a couple of extra inches to navigate my wheelchair through that narrow space. They were terrific!

Recent Review: The project started off smaller, basically sealing 6 vertical cracks which where allowing water into basement. Sonny, had however, warned that as the excavation proceeded there was no way to tell if those cracks extended horizontally beneath ground level and would have to be uncovered and sealed. Unfortunately this was the case and as the project continued so did the cracks. Sonny and Arturo, his foreman, were very sympathetic to the situation and made sure to show me all that was going on. When it was clear that the scope of the project had dramatically changed we had a meeting and came to a new price agreement, which saved me several thousand dollars based on the original pricing formula. I was greatly appreciative, and felt this was an accommodation not many contractors would have done. In our original contract, Sonny was also going to provide downspout adaptors, going into underground PVC pipes, away from the house into catch basins. This system would contain all the roof water and get it away from the foundation. Because of the increased magnitude/cost of the project, I decided to do this portion myself. Sonny was very helpful in spending time on several occasions to tell me in detail what I needed to purchase and how to construct the system. I followed his directions and accomplished this portion of the job myself. Again, I don’t think that many contractors would have provided this assistance. I was very grateful and appreciative. I would also like to say that Arturo and his crew were a pleasure to work with. They did a wonderful job, and were always very gracious and professional in allowing me oversight and answering any questions I had. Through no fault of their own this project did drag out quite a bit longer that expected. This was because of the almost constant rain we had this past summer. Besides, making it impossible to work much of the time, it also created deep clay mud which made the work very difficult, and progress sometimes very slow. That said, Arturo and crew always maintained a good attitude and kept me and my project always in the loop. This was a very difficult project, and I’m very glad that I was working with people of Sonny and Arturo’s expertise, and professionalism.. It made a very difficult project go much better than it might have otherwise.

Reviews in Louisville to Install Concrete Sidewalk

DAAA HOME IMPROVEMENTS
The initial work was done without any complaints, however 1 year and 4 months after a large section of the sidewalk started disintegrating. They told me since it was 4 months after the one year warranty they would not completely repour the section. They said it was not the fault of the company and the cement was of good quality. The were other sections of the sidewalk that were perfectly fine. They agreed only to reseal the area by resurfacing it. After 3 months of emails they finally came to resurface the affected areas. Since the contract had an arbitration clause and would have been more hassle to try and take them to small claims I settled with the resurfacing, but they did not do a very good job. Time will tell how long this lasts. I would not recommend this company or trust the ownership.

Buyer Beware.... At the end of March, 2015, Affordable Concrete Works (ACW) removed an old sidewalk by my garage and poured new concrete for a new sidewalk. My estimate for the sidewalk alone is $2,000 as it was part of a larger project that cost $3,600. Robert III (there's 3 Roberts in the family business) told me that the sidewalk concrete would dry to a light gray/white. However, the concrete dried with large gray splotches/patches all over it...Very unsightly. I contacted the company after a few weeks and told Robert III of the issue and sent photos dated April 30, one month after the sidewalk installation. He told me it was the sealer and that it was "normal" and would go away. I decided to be patient and give him the benefit of the doubt and waited four months to August...no change. I contacted Robert again with photos and again he told me the gray patches were "normal" and would somehow disappear but couldn't tell me the timing of when these patches would disappear. He then told me about another customer that had experienced the same problem and her patches went away. I asked if I could contact her and he was fine with that and said he would provide me with her contact information. I waited a few days and then sent him a text to get the information and he responded via text that he couldn't find her contact information. I did not hear from him again. Now it is December. There is no change in the unsightly sidewalk and I've had to live with it for nine months. In the meantime, our city has been redoing the concrete on a number of sidewalks in the neighborhood. None of those sidewalks have big gray blotches on them and have dried to a consistent color. You be the judge. Take a look at my attached photos...would you pay $2,000 for that sidewalk if you were shown a picture ahead of time? Affordable Concrete Works should take responsibility for addressing this problem. They never sent anyone out to check out the problem. I was the one who always had to contact them. Their response was to just put me off and leave me hanging. I would like?the sidewalk repaired to?the look they promised?or my money back so I can find a new concrete company for a replacement.

Original quote was November of 2013; work performed March 2014. The delay was on my end due to change and addition of original quoted work (as well as winter weather conditions). My original quote was with Tom - on time, courteous, and answered all my questions. Both Tom and Robert kept in touch through out the time frame of quote and completion of work. They were very professional even with the work changes and additions. The sidewalk was framed and poured in one day. I am very happy with the results, loving the look of the new walkway which goes from my driveway, around the side and back of the house. I love it that this is a family oriented business with family members doing my job. Thank you so much Robert and Tom! I have already recommended and passed out several of your business cards to several people.

They were professional through and through. The estimation process was handled well, and we understood our choices. I believe the price was reasonable. This is not a discount operation, and they stated clearly that they don't take shortcuts to save a few dollars. They brought an experienced crew that did all aspects of the work with precision. The started and finished on time. The workmanship was excellent and we're very pleased with the result. We would recommend Affordable Concrete Work to anyone needing these services.

Robert and the whole crew are phenomenal.  The company is three generations of concrete operators.  They know their craft, are competitively priced, friendly, competent, and artistic. Can not recommend highly enough.
