Recent Review: Bret was great to deal with. He responded quickly to my request. I wrote him a quick description of what I wanted, accompanied with some pictures, and he 'nailed' it. (Pardon the pun.) He showed up on time, brought the materials he had purchased, completed it in the time he had estimated, and it looked good. The cost was also on target. He's not just a handyman, he's a craftsman.

Brian was very responsive, on time and is an excellent craftsman. I also had a short and narrow timeframe for completion, and this was met.

Every project with Greg is smooth from beginning to end. Greg is the BEST contractor/handyman I’ve ever had, super reliable, quality work, texts and cleans up! For this project Greg made and installed a second handrail for the main staircase in a residence. The new handrail was a perfect match with the existing one.

Roger Robison E-mailed promptly to say he was not qualified to perform the work I was requesting. I truly appreciated his professionalism, as a number of other contractors I contacted never responded or said they'd be in touch and I never heard from them again. I would definitely consider contacting Roger again for estimates on additional projects, which might come up.

Dennis and his team are very professional and do a thorough job. Dennis listens to what you want and is very knowledgeable in home repairs. He is punctual and polite. He painted my house (exterior) and came back the next day and walked the property and immediately touched up any areas that needed it. He leaves the area clean and picks up all materials when job is completed. A great experience working with Dennis and his team.

Bryan was very professional and diligent to complete the project despite Winter weather. He made sure all doors and storm doors functioned flawlessly. His design and construction of the front porch railing added a missing feature to my 60 year old home that has caused the neighbors to comment on how good it looks. I would not hesitate to use Bryan again when the need arises.

Brian's bid was better than Home Depot and comparable to another bidder but after reading his reviews both here and on other home improvement sites it was a no-brainer to hire him. Brian was punctual and worked around the cold and snow. The job was done professionally and quickly. Brian is a problem solver and a craftsman. He made sure all doors were working perfectly and the porch railing is beautiful as many of the neighbors have commented. I will certainly hire Brian at Wood-N-Things for any future carpentry projects.

ACR Construction LLC
It turned out great.  The lumber was nice grade, he assembled it in a sturdy manner - just what I wanted, and he also painted it properly so it is holding up well.  He used an enamel so it is smooth and washable when little and big hand-prints get it dirty. He came when he said, finished it quickly, and the charge was very affordable.  I am now having him do some upgrades to a rental condo and also another small remodel project in my bathroom.  I appreciate that Jim shows up when you expect him and is good about keeping in touch.

Cliff is super friendly and very talented. He did a great job on our handrail. While at his studio, I was able to see cabinets and tables he was building for customers. The quality of wood and construction was excellent.

BM/B WOODWORKING INC.
Rick is an excellent carpenter. Stairs are among the most difficult aspect of carpentry and he knows stairs very well. Rick has an insane work ethic. He worked on 7/4 and the weekends, I felt awful he was working but he said he was behind and had to catch up. The stairs turned out real nice. Rick routed the nosing on site, it was interesting to watch him work. Now where's where it went downhill and why I can't give an A, the staining. He has his son in laws do the staining and pay them directly. I figured they most be excellent at it, working with Rick and it wasn't cheap at $750. So they show up and don't do hardly any prep work (e.g. sanding, filling nail holes, removing dust debris from wood). Then they proceed to slap on the stain. They ignored the instructions which explicitly state not to let the stain sit on the wood for more than 15 minutes. I came back and the stain was still on the post (it had been at least 45 minutes!!!). Consequently the post is much darker than the stairs and other post. They didn't event wipe the stain off evenly so there are some visible areas where it's darker and looks funny. The next day they proceeded to apply the poly coat. The really rushed this too, not waiting long enough between coats for drying, so the finish isn't smooth. One of the guys was better than the other, but unfortunately he didn't do the upstairs, which we use the most. Overall I feel like my stairs were ruined. They could have been so nice but instead I got a careless and shoddy stain job. And staining can't just be redone. You're talking about lots and lots of labor sanding to redo, so $$$. Bottom line I would use Rick again but I wouldn't let his stain guys anywhere near my house.

Dan is a meticulous craftsman. He worked on the steps most of the day, tirelessly making sure my needs were met--I'm disabled. The steps are not only functional but look good too. Dan is a hardworker, super nice, reliable, he returns phone calls, texts and emails, he also cleans up the work area!I have wholeheartedly recommend Dan.
