Recent Review: I was interested in getting air conditioning installed, so I called a few places for estimates. Tim came out and gave a thorough and professional presentation, then made a thorough survey of our house before proposing a system and making an estimate. He pointed out that a heat pump was a bit more expensive, but would take some of the load off the gas furnace in the winter. After some thought, we decided to take their bid. The job was scheduled for the next week. Parkey's also scheduled the electrical work that needed to be done, although we paid for it separately. The electricians came and did their part, followed shortly by the Parkey's crew. Some of the guys worked outside while one worked on installing the coil in the furnace. The crew leader had to leave before the job was done because of a family emergency, and another tech took over. This caused some trouble. The first tech apparently called for the county inspectors to come and inspect before the job was ready, and the inspector did not sign off on the job. So he had to come back later, which meant more time out of my schedule to let him in. The other problem was the humidifier. We had a humidifier already installed, which needed to be moved to accommodate the heat pump coil. After it was moved, it didn't work. After a few days, I called Parkey's - they immediately sent out a tech, who worked for a while on it and thought it was fixed. Unfortunately, it was not, and whatever he did also meant the heat didn't work either. So someone else came out, got the heat working, and figured out that the humidifier needed a new board and solenoid. Two weeks after the initial work, the system worked as advertised. To summarize: overall, I'm happy with the system, the price, and the responsiveness of Parkeys. They worked until they got it right, and were very responsive to my questions. Tim did a great job walking me through the options I had. My only gripe is it took a while to get everything working, and a fair amount of time for me to be at home and let the techs in to work.

Day & Night Air Conditioning Heating & Plumbing
Recent Review: We recently purchased a new heat pump/ac unit from Day & Night and couldn't be happier with this company. To start, Brian, the salesperson, arrived on time to provide an estimate. He conducted a thorough review including inspecting ductwork, measuring the square footage of our home and utilized computer software to calculate the proper size unit we needed (we have only been in our current home a few months and discovered the current unit was too small to keep the house cool when the outside temps climbed above 100). Brian was friendly, professional and knowledgeable, explaining everything in terms a layperson can understand. I want to add that other companies provided an estimate after merely looking at the home's square footage. They did not bother to look at the duct work. Had they done so, they would've found what Brian did: A need for some adjustments and a total lack of insulation in several areas. We decided we wanted Day & Night to do the job. They next scheduled a technician, Peter, to come out and take a look concerning the ductwork and other technicalities. During his review, Peter spotted a hidden potential hazard concerning the current electrical configuration. We were grateful to Day & Night for spotting the problem which they fixed during the installation. We were able to get the job scheduled within just a few days. The crew that arrived, Josh, Tony, and Cameron, like everyone at Day & Night, arrived right on time at 6am. All three were friendly and hard-working. They even brought (and installed in a back bedroom) a portable air conditioner so that we would be comfortable throughout the day while they completed the installation. They also carefully laid drop cloths knowing they'd be working on ductwork that might kick up dirt/dust. The three kept the pedal to the medal, and by about 1:30 pm, they were finished. And by "finished", I mean they gathered all their equipment, disconnected the portable a/c unit, and thoroughly vacuumed the floors just in case any dust escaped from the drop cloths. They could not have been more thorough. I can't say enough good things about Josh, Tony and Cameron-- they were absolutely great! One week after the installation, it is Day & Night's policy to send another person to inspect the system and installation. Carey came out and I found him to be friendly and knowledgeable, like everyone at this company. He saw a minor issue with one of the parts on the unit-- they'll be out in a couple days to fix it. It is nothing that is impacting our comfort but Carey was not happy with the part and wants it corrected. I've lived in AZ many years-- this is the fourth or fifth new heat pump/ac unit I've had to purchase. My experience with Day & Night was the best of all. These people know what they're doing and it shows! The quality of the unit itself is of course important but it is even more important that the installation - including proper ducting, etc - is done correctly. For that reason, I am glad we chose Day & Night. I will never use any other company for our a/c-heating needs. If you're seeking high quality -- from the schedulers to the technicians -- go with Day & Night. You will not be sorry.

I went with a larger machine than I was originally thinking of. Their price was excellent and their service was truly outstanding. I would highly recommend them. I would give them A+'s across the board. The sales representative was not a high pressure salesman. He took his time to explain everything to me. He pointed things out to me that I was not aware of. DJD Vigil Heating & AC
First service on my old furnace occured on 12/20/06 (paid $69.00).  Second service was on 2/3/08 (paid $588.00).  Third service was on 8/06/08 (paid 227.00).  Owner JD Vigil suggested a new system at this point and really pushed for a more expensive system but I did agree.  I told him that I was trying to procure a home equity loan and he scheduled the work before the loan was finalized.  Then the loan fell through.  I tried several different lenders but I didn't have enough equity in my house because the value had fallen so much (like everyone else).  So the work was performed without me having obtained the money.  The company hounded me to pay off the balance (they called repeatedly while I was trying to arrange funding and his secretary was cold and curt).  I eventually had to put the $8,400.00 on a couple of credit cards.  Then the fun began.  Install was done on or around 7/9/09.  Had to have them come out on 10/21/09.  Repair description reads, "Corrrected wiring in crawl space at furnace so sys. will corectly deenergize reversing valve in heat mode."  Then I had to have them out again on 2/11/10 because I had no heat,  Repair description reads, "Condensate purge hose not full just 4" filled pump not level Leveled and tested pump OK pump wired to break outdoor temp sensor not "R" TV circuit board rewired to break "R" from cond and T-stat Heat pump turns on for call for heat then kicks off 5-10 min later changed T-stat to emergency heat furnace does not kick on Removed T-stat face and a relay fell off back Another relay is partially broken Replaced T-stat Reprogramed and cycled several times in heat and emergency cycled perfectly."  Then I had to have them out again on 2/29/10 as I again had no heat.  Repair description reads, "found open low volt short cutting power to start  Repaired short  checked operation=good  found no other problems at this time  syst working good."  So had to have them out 3 times after a new install.  Then like an idiot I bought a club membership.  I had them out one time on 8/24/10 for a tune up.  They recommended a surge protector to the tune of $179.00--don't know why they didn't recommend this at the time of install.  I never called them back as I was fed up at this point.  I found JD Vigil to be quite beguiling and glib.  I feel I was duped and deceived.  He is a good salesman but runs a shoddy business.  He got all of his money but I never received any kind of apology for shoddy workmanship or poor business practices.  I also complained to Lennox.  He apparently got the complaint and called me.  He was very brusque on the phone.  I was in the middle of something and said I couldn't talk.  He never called back.  I have (and will continue to) tell everyone I know not to use this company.  I am a reasonable guy.  In my 54 years of life I have never made a formal complaint like this one.  I hope this story will help someone in the future to avoid the mistake I made by hiring this company.  By the way, I have still not completely paid off the credit cards.  I joined Angie's List to find a new HVAC company to take over my maintenance.

The guys were really nice and worked well as a team. They were hard working. Their price was a little more than we might have got from somebody else but I went with them because of their reputation with Better Business Bureau and Angie's List. We just felt that they are the ones we should go with.

They did an excellent job. They weren't the cheapest estimate that I got, but I went with them because the gentleman who came out to give the estimate was very honest. Any time I had a question about another company's unit that was cheaper than theirs, he did not downgrade the other company, just explained the differences between the two. Any time they've come out to service the air conditioner since I've had them installed, they've been very courteous, very neat, and have done an excellent job.

D A & A Professional Cooling & Heating
These guys are nice guys and probably do fine replacing an existing system, but they just don't have the knowledge or skills to deal with unusual situations. They tend to do what is easiest rather than what is the best and did not display in-depth system knowledge. They have been back to the house countless times (failed inspection 3 or 4 times - I lost count), and even brought a Honeywell rep along to try and properly install the humidifier (still unsuccessful). We were very patient with these guys because we liked them personally, but professionally we have finally given up on them. They were by no means the low bidder, more the middle of the road. Allen is very responsive and seems to know his stuff - he especially knows all about the various rebates available. However, Allen is the boss not the installer. I guess we should have suspected something when they showed up on the first day and the system we contracted for would not fit through the attic access door. Attention to detail is definitely not their strong suit. So, if you have a basic system replacement, these guys will be fine, but if you have anything unusual, definitely do not call these guys.
