AHEAT EXCHANGE SYSTEMS LTD
WE HAVE USED HEAT EXCHANGE ON OUR PREVIOUS HOME AND WERE VERY SATISFIED WITH BOTH PRICE AND WORKMANSHIP. WE HAD SEVERAL QUOTES AND HEAT EXCHANGE HAD THE BEST PRICE ON SIMILAR AND EXACT PRODUCT MATCHES FROM OTHER VENDORS. WE WOULD USE HEAT EXCHANGE AGAIN AS THEY HAVE PROVEN KNOWLEDGEABLE AND QUALITY OF WORK WAS EXCELLENT.

This estimate was for an EverRest furnace. The warranty is good. It is a lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger and ten year parts and labor. The bid was $3900.00.

I called another company to come out and fix my furnace.  It's a company I had used in the past (but will never use again).  This was the third time they had been out in the last year, and now I am convinced that the reason is because they had broken a terminal on my limiter switch, and didn't tell me.  Anyway, after spending 4 hours trying to find the switch, for which he was going to charge me $700, the repairman from the other company told me that I need a new furnace, because my heat exchanger was cracked in four places.  I thanked him and sent him on his way.  Custom then came out.  Benny took the time to remove my heat exchanger (he said the other company did not pull it out, BTW) and we inspected it to see that it was in nearly perfect shape.  Then he reassembled the furnace.  The part was in town, and the whole repair and replacement of the part cost $269!!  The complete process was filled with professionalism, cordiality and concern from everyone at Custom.  I highly recommend Custom for any HVAC work you might need done.  They rock!  Applewood?  Avoid them like the plague.

My existing furnace heat exchanger had corroded to the point where carbon monoxide was detectable in the house. We replaced the entire furnace with a new high efficiency model. They gave an easy-to-understand quote. After we selected them, they had the furnace out the next day and replaced everything within a day. They were clean and professional. They also made it very easy to claim the utility rebate that was available to purchasers of high-efficency furances by providing the forms and an addressed envelope to the claim center.

Installation: fine. Follow-up: poor. New Rheem furnace emits an annoying "boom" sound near the end of the blower cycle. Sound is from the heat-exchanger (not from sheet metal). Two technicians examined and agreed sound was from heat-exchanger, but both indicated that furnace "was not faulty and nothing could be serviced." Both technicians said they would "check around at the Rheem supplier and get back to me." Neither technician has subsequently responded.

went well. on schedule and within price quoted. they were most expensive but i was impressed that sales person looked in actic (the only one to do so). crew seemed to know what they were doing but communication between office and field people was a bit fuzzy and took some time to get some questions answered. inspector said they did a good job and system is working as expected. i'd say that they fofilled thier part of the bargin adaquaitly and i am satisfied with thier work.

Very thorough inspection, far more detailed than the one performed by our buyer's home inspector. He found numerous cracks in the heat exchanger and declared the furnace unsafe and in need of replacement.

The technician was polite and seemed to know what he was doing, he pointed out that the heat exchanger is near the end of its life, but didn't pressure me to have him do the repair.

They got me out of a jam fixing my furnace temporarily and were correct in diagnosis.  When I called the original installer they changed the heat exchanger for no charge.

DBrothers Plumbing, Heating & Electric
As others have mentioned, these guys are very good at charging way too much for work that isn't necessary. In my opinion, there motto seems to be 'replace at any cost'. The technician who did the work was incompetent and had to constantly call the main office for help. The initial problem was that the cooling fan in the compressor unit stopped working. Instead of trying to debug the problem he started to work on larger items like the entire compressor unit and heat exchanger. What does a heat exchanger have to do with a fan that stopped working? He had the entire compressor and furnace torn apart and then says that those two units need to be replaced without any explanation of the actual problem. We needed to get this fixed, and since they had the entire system torn apart, we didn't seem to have any option other than to have them replace the two units. I will never use these guys again. If you do end up using them, be sure to receive a complete explanation of the problem BEFORE they start tearing your system apart. What is worse is that we had the same thing happen about 2 months later on our other compressor (we have 2 A/C units). I called a local specialist and they came out and just had to replace a capacitor. All for about $150. It would have been nice if Brother's actually looked at the problem as opposed to simply replacing the most expensive pieces of the system.
