Recent Review: When the process began on July 9 or 10, 2011 State Farm gave me names of people to contact to have the basement reconstructed. RESCON was the one I decided would be the best. I really liked Jack and his wife from a phone call. They were "jiffy" on the spot and I was so excited to begin this process with the company. The explained what they could do and I could make changes according to replacement costs. I did ask for a few changes that I knew would come out of my pocket. They gave a list of cost- 48,000. I also had to have asbestos removed from the home. A few weeks into the project I thought things were going really well. They were working great with me and my situation. However, as time continued on they wouldn't listen and respond to my calls. The contact person I was to communicate with QUIT and nobody seemed to know what to do. I work with the contractor on the property. They work they were producing was sloppy. They had to redo an bathroom due to not leaving any electrical outlets, they covered up electrical outlets that later had to be found (fire hazard), dry wall not painted completely (I can still see white through sections), doors are cracked, shower door cheap replacement, pipes that leaked (continue to do so) and they forget a laundry shoot all together. Cupboards downstairs were ordered wrong and then cut and placed in (obvious when you look at the bottom), these were some of the the items, I know there were more little things. I cut costs to make some changes they said that was completely fine and I wanted to know dollar amounts- basically my savings versus the actual cost.. impossible. Jack wasn't able to do that. In the end he made sure to use power of attorney type paperwork he had me sign early in the process to by pass me to receive his funds. FINALLY on DECEMBER 19, 2011 YES 6 MONTHS LATER they completed the work. When originally it was to be done by the end of September. Jack was "jiffy" on the spot to get paid. I was tired and decided to quit wanting perfection and understanding of the expenses. He said we were even and think he knew I was not buying his inability to provide the documentation I was asking for.That was my last conversation with him. In fact, my mortgage company sent the FED-EX package accidentally to my residence and I went to FED-EX to pick up envelope, I didn't know the contents and/or sender, Jack had already contacted FED-EX to assure that he would be receiving the package and that it wasn't to delivered it to me. That was fine because I previously had my mortgage company release to him, but I thought that to be interesting. Update as of today. I have a broken shower stall door- cheap doesn't close properly, the bedroom doors don't close properly and painting on them is awful, I have shelves in the bathroom that are falling off the wall, the laundry shoot frame cracked within a week, leaky pipe from washer, and it wasn't has high quality as the promised. It's nice and of course an improvement on a 1970's basement or I would have gave them a lower grade. IT was fair work, but I don't know how honest and all I have is proof on the work. IF I could decide again, I would have changed from RESCON when I contacted State Farm in October and they gave me that option. I have not heard from the company at anytime since. I have had several check-ups from the carpet installers and the initial mitigator that started process on July 8, 2011. I appreciate those who care to follow -up and with this large of a claim and my concerns and complaining through out the process, as a business owner I would have followed up.
