Recent Review: The contractor did a nice job on the septic system, and I would recommend him for that service. I was not given a firm estimate on the excavation.  Instead, I was was given an estimate that the job would take 3 days, at $1500 per day.  After paying for 5-1/2 days, the job still wasn't near complete.  The contractor assumed no ownership for underestimating the job, and did not offer any cut rate or other discounts for additional days that might be required.  I finally quit using them. Other experts, who did a much better job, told me that they dug too deep, which created more dirt piles, and more later work needed.  I should point out, that subsequently, I have spent a lot more on excavation for this project.

From the estimate to completion, the process went very smoothly. Nate is a true professional and is easy to work with. He listened carefully to fully understand what I needed, he came to my home on time, then performed the job quickly and on budget. The area excavated is level and the edges are straight. I recommend him heartily!

ACut Above Construction and Design LLC
I think that the job went very well. I needed to remove a cement incinerator, a sidewalk, fence posts, clothesline posts and a network of sumac tree roots.  John and his son arrived Tuesday morning and finished four days later on Friday. All the debris from the excavation was removed and taken to the dump. The cost was higher that other bidders' but I chose John's company because he had the equipment to do the job done right.  They also estimated a longer time period to do the job.  Other bidders' estimated that the job would take two days.  That seems too short, and they didn't mention using a Bobcat Excavator. Both men were friendly and professional.

ABill's Plumbing & Drain Service
This was a big job, took a few days. They were professional, fair, easy to work with. I really appreciated how they removed and replaced the lawn area so nicely and cleaned everything up so well. We got a discount because our next door neighbors were also needing the same work done at that time.

The excavating we paid it ourselves to get rid of the foundation and all of the ash and stuff after the fire.  The rest of it was billed through our builder.  They were very professional, very responsive and extremely punctual.  They worked until the job was done.  They were here even if it was too dark and didn't leave until the job was done.

John Wesfall was prompt and professional in the excavation which required removal and replacement of the old Septic Tank.  John is very skilled with the heavy equipment required.  John honored his quote even with an unexpected issue.

He did a good job. He was a nice man. My contractor uses him all the time. They are subcontractors. I was paying my contractor every month and he was paying his subcontractors. They answered my questions. I would use them again in the future if needed.

ADMC Sewer and Water Repair
I had new landscaping right where they needed to excavate, and after they were done, they replanted and repaired the drip irrigation system--it looks good as new. My excavation was deeper than normal--11 or 14 feet, I forget which exactly.  I got to watch and had my questions answered and explained to me.  I would highly recommend Dan and his crew.  I already have to my daughter.

FCHIDDIX BROTHERS EXCAVATION
We were given a bid/estimate of work to be done at the jobsite for our new home.  That bid/estimate came in at $12,953.00.  However they covered themselves because at the top of the estimate they stated that all work would be done by the hour.   Chiddix Brothers were met several times at the job site so they knew what they were expected to do – no surprises. They held themselves out as professionals.  When the invoice came in at $21,304.48 it was quite a shock.  That is 40% more which to me is quite a spread.   This was with  no boulders to be removed..    When I called Chiddix Brothers office to ask if this was correct and was there anything that could be done I was called by Seth Chiddix.  I told Seth that after reviewing  the billing the item that seemed out of proportion  was the trucking.  I told Seth I had sat at the jobsite watching for about an hour and they were only putting on scoop from the loader in each truck Seth became angry and said that was just not true and they always put in at least 2-3 scoops in each truck.   If I was saying that then I must need remedial arithmetic to learn 1 from 3 and probably needed glasses.   If you are  getting an excavation bid go to someone else.    I would never recommend them to anyone. UPDATE: My husband and I met with the job superintendent Mr. Tony Dinwiddie for a written bid.  We did not specifically request a “no trucking fees” be included in the Chiddixes’ bid.  We specifically requested that as much soil be stockpiled on the building site as possible.  I was the one who located a dump site less than 15 minutes from our lot where excess soil could be stockpiled.    This complaint comes down to the fact that neither Mr. or Mrs. Chiddix were on the job site when the soil was being removed.  It was I who sat there and observed the soil being loaded one scoop at a time into the dump truck.  If the driver of one of the dump trucks remained there past one scoop being loaded into his vehicle, the loader driver beeped his horn and informed the driver to move on for the next dump truck.  It should be noted that the soil was free of any tree stumps and there were no boulders to be moved from the site.    Neither my husband nor I at any time took this complaint to such an unprofessional level as calling either Mr. or Mrs. Chiddix a liar.  All I informed him was that I was personally on the job site when the events above-described took place.  It was our understanding that the dump trucks could take three scoops of soil rather than one scoop of soil.  Hence, the final bid for trucking was completely unrealistic.  Although we would like to discuss this matter with the various truck drivers, I suspect they will feel uncomfortable coming forward as they would like to continue their working relationship with the Chiddixes.    Respectfully submitted,

Very friendly and easy to work with.  The excavation went fine, but I didn't like how the new patio turned out, so he refunded my money.
