In preparation for the arrival of a long-term guest, I contacted A to Z Renovations with the goal of soundproofing a basement bedroom, which was located directly beneath a kitchen area with hardwood floors. (Sound freely and loudly entered the bedroom area, making it quite unrestful for guests.) In short order, A to Z's Adam Aussem arrived on site to inspect the work requirements and, later, develop a reasonable cost estimate. As part of my research process, I contacated and received cost estimates from three different firms but ultimately chose "A to Z" due to the quality of its technical approach, schedule and cost proposal. (It didn't hurt that Angie's List rated the company very highly.) Work began as promised and in the course of operations, Adam revealed to me issues (i.e., improper electrical connections and wall construction techniques) created by the original home builder, with whom I later spoke and addressed the same issues. I authorized Adam to make the repairs, which he did quickly and with a focus on minimal cost impacts. Note -- One of my favorite TV shows is "Holmes on Homes," and I felt in a certain way that I was working with a company that shared Mike Holmes' approach of "Make it Right," which is exactly what A to Z did with my project. Soon the project was finished one week ahead of schedule and $200 under budget (even with the corrections noted above). Very importantly the room's soundproofing qualities are outstanding, and my long-term guest is quite pleased. As an added benefit, A to Z took the initiative to move the furniture back into the bedroom, reassembling the bedframe in the process. This was unexpected service but much appreciated by me, coming home from a long day at work and finding all of the "heavy lifting" done to make the bedroom habitable for our soon-to-arrive guest. SUMMARY -- I am very pleased with service quality and value provided by A to Z Renovations & Construction and will definitely use the company for any future remodeling projects at my home.
