Recent Review: We live in a 1920's Craftsman bungalow, and have had Fred come to the house a number of times over the past 3 or 4 years to do challenging installations (for example, a strangely designed attic stair pull-down for small spaces), and have found him prompt, responsible, resourceful, and very quick to understand a situation.  In this particular case, he installed soundproof-glass coverings over 6 existing windows, working by telephone with the Boston company supplying the materials, and adapting the covering designs to the surprises that come with working with older houses.     He is a skilled carpenter, and his work is always very neat and blends in with the existing architecture. I would certainly recommend him without reservation.

Recent Review: In all everything went to plan, they showed up on the date with the materials that we discussed he would need. The only slight was that the team was late, and as a result, I feel like the final touches were rushed so they could leave on time and we lost some of the detail that we desired. The team did get right to work once they arrived. When the coupon expired and more work was needed, they discussed the remaining labor costs and gave me options on how much work they would do based on our budget. I feel that they could have spent more time fixing the obvious mistakes in the end. The owner did say if there was a problem he would come back and fix it, I never took him up on this offer, instead I fixed the problem myself and moved forward with the remodel. The clean up was pretty good except they rinsed all off the drywall tools over our fresh red mulch instead of any of my not landscaped yard where the white would not have been an eyesore.

Recent Review: After another contractor delayed the project, I contacted Pepe. He was very responsive, professional and prompt. Pepe was able to start the project the following day and finished a day sooner than originally discussed. I could not have asked for a better contractor.

Recent Review: Overall the projects went very well. The service was excellent and the team was very flexible in my ever-changing requirements. Cabinet installation was great and tiling was very professional. We worked based on time and materials, so any changes were easily accommodated. I also like that Jack was open to allowing me to source my own materials or help me provide suppliers when needed.

DR.E.S. Painting & Drywall
Ralph was very punctual to quote our project. He texted to sat that his truck transmission went out the day he was supposed to come by for final review and payment. I mentioned he could use my truck to get the materials and stay on schedule (we liked Ralph and were excited about working with him), but he only replied that he "didn't want to have to send that text". All communication stopped at that point. I been called him two days in a row to figure out a plan around his truck getting some work...but nothing back. No cancellation notice, no reschedule request...just nothing. Bummed about this. Seemed like a great guy, but I couldn't/wouldn't recommend pursuing him for a project. We lost a week and are now pushed out.

CGrandma's Handyman Service, Inc.
The handyman showed and I asked him to remove small portion of dropped ceiling over the sink in my bathroom and replace the can light from the drop ceiling with a normal light fixture that I had on hand. He seemed put out by the job. It took him twice as long as I had anticipated to remove the small ceiling portion. He placed the light fixture as I asked. He was very very messy, and tracked drywall mud and other debris through my house and did not clean it up. He also tore some tile off my shower surround, breaking some of the tiles in the process. He did not reattach the tiles, but let me know he would contact me to do so at a later time. He never called. He also did not finish the drywall work and dinged up my newly finished tub and toilet in the process of his tear down. I was also left with a large pile of debris on my patio to clean up. The trash was mere feet away. I was super excited to find a handyman service that responded so quickly but the work was definitely sub par.

It was great! The basement looks absolutely amazing now. Wade is a real craftsman with getting the finish and texture just right. The project was a big one, and required tearing out the old drop ceiling and replacing it with a "regular" drywall ceiling. Wade was able to accommodate the various other contractors who were also working on the basement - electricians and tile craftsmen - and worked well with everyone. Great job Wade - thanks so much. Fairly priced too.

Mike very willing to work to our schedule - and still perform very well.  "Easily" worked around my messes. Got the work done sooner than expected.  A little over spray in kitchen dropped ceiling - but I was repainting any way.  He did extra area for no extra charge because it wouldn't look right not to.

Harmony was professional, on time, and extremely conscientious to keep dust to a minimum. When she ran into unexpected issues, she tackled them without excuses. The end result is exactly what we had envisioned.

AA to Z Renovations & Construction LLC
In preparation for the arrival of a long-term guest, I contacted A to Z Renovations with the goal of soundproofing a basement bedroom, which was located directly beneath a kitchen area with hardwood floors.  (Sound freely and loudly entered the bedroom area, making it quite unrestful for guests.)  In short order, A to Z's Adam Aussem arrived on site to inspect the work requirements and, later, develop a reasonable cost estimate.  As part of my research process, I contacated and received cost estimates from three different firms but ultimately chose "A to Z" due to the quality of its technical approach, schedule and cost proposal.  (It didn't hurt that Angie's List rated the company very highly.) Work began as promised and in the course of operations, Adam revealed to me issues (i.e., improper electrical connections and wall construction techniques) created by the original home builder, with whom I later spoke and addressed the same issues.  I authorized Adam to make the repairs, which he did quickly and with a focus on minimal cost impacts.     Note -- One of my favorite TV shows is "Holmes on Homes," and I felt in a certain way that I was working with a company that shared Mike Holmes' approach of "Make it Right," which is exactly what A to Z did with my project. Soon the project was finished  one week ahead of schedule and $200 under budget (even with the corrections noted above).  Very importantly the room's soundproofing qualities are outstanding, and my long-term guest is quite pleased. As an added benefit, A to Z took the initiative to move the furniture back into the bedroom, reassembling the bedframe in the process.  This was unexpected service but much appreciated by me, coming home from a long day at work and finding all of the "heavy lifting" done to make the bedroom habitable for our soon-to-arrive guest. SUMMARY -- I am very pleased with service quality and value provided by A to Z Renovations & Construction and will definitely use the company for any future remodeling projects at my home.
