Recent Review: We always get three bids before any work is done by an outside company. Classic Drains & Plumbing (CDP) was one of four bids obtained for replacing an original cast iron waste line. Due to the prices being quoted, there was a lot of time between each quote as we saved the money for the job. CDP quoted us in March, if I remember correctly. I called months later and the quote was honored. CDP's quote was the middle quote - neither highest nor lowest. Work started as soon as desired, which was two days later. I had requested that the job be done very quickly and it was arranged to have two plumbers come out. Both trucks pulled up at the arranged time, assessed the work & who would do what, then work started immediately. Both men worked at a steady pace. I was called in from the living room to answer questions or get details of what I wanted. One plumber left after and hour and a half and the entire job was done in 3 hours. Work site was cleaned up, they answered questions regarding the water heater, cleaned out another pipe for better flow into the main waste line. Service couldn't have been better. Both men were very friendly yet professional. Let's talk money. The quote vs work done was spot on. I have no quibbles with CDP's prices, in that ALL contracted work has a per hour rate that allows the company to stay in business. Although I, along with a lot of people, don't particularly like paying $80-90 per hour, this is the current going rate. I think that CDP's work is worth the money. We are DYIer's. As such, some of the 'grunt work' was already done - taking out the sink and pulling the Masonite. I wish I had talked about the sink prior to having the work done. CDP's general recommendation is to replace all existing fixtures, which I'm sure helps to prevent further issues. I wasn't made aware of that recommendation. Having to save for the job itself prevented us from having additional funds to replace the sink, faucet and disposal unit. And I didn't really want to replace the sink - I like the old sink, crazy as it sounds. At a later date, we did reinstall all of the items and they all work. The 'B' on price is because, even though I should have inquired about the sink installation, for the amount of money spent (as well as being willing to pay an hourly rate) installation of the sink was not completed. And even though I understand why CDP recommends replacing fixtures associated to a job, this is not always possible or affordable. For CDP, I would recommend that this always be a discussion point for any job. Overall, I would highly recommend this company. Good service, friendly professional people who care about a job well done. I trust them to do good work and they do.
