Recent Review: Consultation: No high pressure sales tactics. No requirement for both the husband and wife to be home. Actually, my wife and i were both at work on the day TR construction arrives to assess our roof. After that, a quote was sent to my email. I asked if we could discuss the quote in person and we set up a day for them to arrive and discuss the job. There was no high pressure sales tactics, person we talked to was genuine and honest. The other companies I interviewed required both the husband and wife be home and they all used the old "If you don't sign tonight, we cannot honor the discounted price you see before you right now" Just a warning to other families out there, if a company requires both the husband and wife be home for the consultation, that's a red flag. That tactic is used to increase the success rate of getting a contract signed that night. ROOFING JOB JOURNAL Day 1: TR Construction arrived 15 minutes early to start the removal of the roof. I introduced myself to the person whom I assumed was in charge before leaving to work. He explained to me all the work his team was doing for the day. I apologized to him for not being able to move my stuff away from the edges of the roof below and his team removed those items for me. Items included BBQ grill, chairs, canopy, Hamock, etc... I came back home from work and all the asphalt tiles from the roof were removed and they covered the whole roofing area with tarp. Day 2: TR Construction arrived in the morning and started installation of the asphalt shingles and drip edge. When I arrived back from work, the roof looked amazing. The shingles were the correct color and the drip edge installed was brown instead of white. Luckily for us, the brown drip edge turned out to be the better color that the one we chose. The heavy rain in San Diego the past few weeks has put our roof to the test and it holds up as expected from a properly installed roof. Day 3: TR Construction came to pick up any tools they left behind. They also placed my BBQ grill, hamock, canopy, etc.. back to where they were before they started the job. There was barely anything for them to clean up because they did a good job cleaning up at the end of each day. A final inspection was performed on top of the roof and around the house perimeter. Conclusion: TR Construction performed an excellent job while still keeping clean. The past 2 weeks was a true test to how great the installation was because it has rained so hard since they installed a new roof. My wife and I are very happy with the roofing job. An appointment has been set up for some remodeling work on our master bedroom. The water that leaked through the roof before the roof installation has caused damage to the ceiling in our master bedroom so they are coming back to perform some work to repair that. I have other future projects for this house that I am looking forward to have TR Construction perform.

ACR GARCIA ROOFING
All members of the roofing crew were highly professional, competent and friendly. They performed a first class job in tearing off the old asphalt shingle roof and removed all the debris from the property. They replaced rotted wood with new wood. They installed a high quality underlayment. They added drip edges to every edge. They installed new, high quality, asphalt shingles with care and precision. After they were done, they removed nails and other debris from the yard and left it clean. They were always careful with our property to avoid any damage etc. In all phases of the roof replacement, they did not skip any steps; they addressed every detail. After they were done, I personally climbed on the roof and inspected the entire roof; I was impressed with the job that they had done. Honestly, the appearance of the roof clearly showed that they performed their work with a high level of craftsmanship. I am extremely happy with this roof, and would recommend Garcia Roofing to anyone.

ASequoia Roofing Inc
This is the second time Sequoia has done roofing for me and they are fantastic. Excellent work, excellent people. The "cost of service" that I list is the total of the roofing itself which was $11,040 and an additional $890 for wood that needed to be replaced (an Angie's List discount was applied). I'll call them again if I need more roofing.

AChristian Roofing, Inc.
I received 4 bids and selected Christian Roofing to replace the roof on my rental. Josh was the estimator and I was impressed by his professionalism, thoroughness and attention to detail. My primary concern was to have a quality product installed according to the manufacturers specifications by competent installers. Christian Roofing is a family run business that takes pride in doing excellent work. Except for one communication issue, I was very pleased with their work and have no trouble recommending them to others.

It was fine. It cost more because they had to convert the roof. The cleanup could’ve been better. The scheduling was fine and they did a good job. The owner went out of his way to help me out.

FRt Roofing Specialist
I hired RT Roofing based on the referral from a fellow who had used him in flipping houses work and the $650 discount for paying cash. This job went well for 2 days then was the worst experience of any contractor I have hired. 30 feet of wood was replaced on the back second story edge of the roof. When I inspected the work there was a 4 inch nail bent and pounded into the flat side of the wood (I have photos). Mr. Tomeoni's son was the worker, said "the nail bent and was hard to get out". I asked that the ledger board be re-replaced or that I not be charged. I was told I was being ridiculous that it was "an honest mistake". I did nonetheless pay for the beam replacement. When it came time to do the boots around all the vent pipes, the areas were not masked off, so there is chocolate brown overspray on my very light tan/white shingles (I have photos). I was told I was being "too picky". This job was to be completed in 2 days. It took 6 (not because of any inclement weather). The crews showed up late or not at all on 1 day. After complaining about these two instances I was told that I could no longer pay cash and therefore had to pay the $650 additional. The last thing is that when Mr. Tomeoni came to do the estimate (I had already gotten 2 others) I told him that it was already a re-roof and had to be torn down to the plywood. When he presented his invoice he had an additional fee for removal of the second layer (approx. $400). He did not end up charging me for this, but it goes to his integrity, I think. After this job was paid for, he continued to send me certified letters asking for the additional $650 for about 2 months. I had contacted the fellow who referred him, who told me that Mr. Tomeoni said to him that he was going to continue billing me just to be a pain. Nice fellow - NOT.

AProfessional Roofing and Solar
It was EXCELLENT! The demolition crew arrived at 7:00 am as promised on Day 1. There were at least 10 guys taking off the roof, the boards, etc. They worked quickly and were done with all removal by Day 2. Each day they cleaned up after themselves, swept for nails and metal debris, swept all around the house and were especially mindful of my elderly dog who likes her spot under the patio. On Day 2 which was a Saturday, and Day 3 (Monday) they arrived at 8:00 am to replace the boards. There were several guys painting the boards on the ground while others worked on the roof. The guys painting laid large pieces of tarp down underneath where they painted so there was no mess when they finished. For the paint, I just had to give one of the guys my paint choice and he went to a Dunn Edwards to buy the right shade and right paint. There was a small problem in that some of the screws went through in a few places inside and were visible since there is not crawl space. As soon as I showed the head guy, he told the others then had someone come out to fix the inside and paint it by the end of the job. By Day 5, there were just two guys meticulously putting the tiles on appropriately and taking their time to make sure it all lined up. They finished by 5:00 pm that day. The roof looks amazing! And it was done just in time before a big storm hit two weeks later. For payment, I only put down a $1000 deposit and was supposed to pay John, the owner, when the materials were delivered. He came by when I happen to be out running an errand and had to leave. His office called on Day 3 to say he would just take the payment at the end. We also discussed the payment and how much more over the estimate it would cost - which I had expected because of the number of boards that had to be replaced. She was polite and also explained some areas where they were able to cut costs a bit to try and save some money. No problem. John came by on Thursday evening at 4:00 pm, we had a nice conversation, he went through all that was done, the warranty and assured me if there was any problem to give him a call. It was great to work with the owner who obviously took pride in his business!

ASAN MARCOS ROOFING
San Marcos Roofing was the lowest bid on the new roof for our 2000 sf. house. Normally, I'm a bit leery of very low bids, but something about the owner/estimator's demeanor put me at ease. He seemed very straight forward and honest. He explained all the options thoroughly and patiently. And he delivered on every single promise -- he was on-time, within budget, and completed the work promptly. He did exactly what he said he would do. No nonsense, no excuses, no kidding. Just good, competent workmanship at a very fair price. I wish every contractor we work with was as good. Highly recommend.
