Recent Review: They know their stuff very, very well. Kevin Bradley and team did an amazing job installing whole house humidifier at our place. Kevin did a thorough walk through, suggested us the right humidifier, the team installed it very, very professionally. They made sure everything worked perfectly with our two Nest thermostats, thoroughly tested the entire system. They even stopped by later to do adjustments and fine tuning. Last but not the least, they charge a very very fair price for the kind of quality work they do. We shopped around and interviewed a few HVAC companies before hiring them; no one even came close in terms of the knowledge and professionalism. I would highly recommend them for any HVAC work you may need. They are very honest and very reliable.

Recent Review: Based on a number of very positive online reviews, I contacted ARM about installation of a humidifier on our pre-existing furnace. From the first contact, I was charmed by the owner, Alan's wife, Lydia, who takes all the calls.  She is absolutely delightful! Alan came out to assess our set-up and provide preliminary information.  We then spoke with him over the phone several times after he did some research for us.  Our situation was a bit complicated as our furnace is in a small closet. Alan and his employee then came out and installed our humidifier perfectly.  All went well with what appeared to be a rather labor-intensive (4 hour) process. We are very happy with our humidifier and the service provided by ARM.  We will definitely use them again for our heating and air conditioning needs.

Recent Review: Our old air conditioner has given us problems for a few years, and the last technician tried to fix a leak by injecting some kind of substance into the system to seal the leak. That didn't work so I called Flanders out for a service call. The bottom line was that there was a blockage in the AC system which could have been in the outdoor unit, in the furnace in the attic, or somewhere in between, and they couldn't make it work by a simple recharging of the coolant. They gave us the options of repair or replacement. They didn't try to talk us into the most expensive option, but just explained them. Since we were never happy with the old system we chose the replacement option. We also chose the best available system that they sold, and that's why the price is pretty high. We could easily have done it for a decent amount less if we chose to. When installation day came the crew arrived on time and there were four, maybe five technicians and the owner of the company. Every one of them was courteous and friendly, and they were very careful during the installation, which was extra difficult since the furnace is in the attic. They removed the old furnace and installed the new one without damaging anything. They worked the whole day and cleaned things up before they left. The new system works great, much better than the old one. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. PS - The reason that I rated the price "good" instead of "excellent" (or "lousy" for that matter) is that I didn't get any other bids. There may be companies that would do the job for less, but I got good vibes from Bret Flanders and did not really want to shop price. I wasn't satisfied with the last three techs that worked on the system, so since I felt comfortable with him, I decided to give the job to him.

AHaddon Heating & Cooling
Exceptional people to do business with. Dave Haddon, the owner patiently explained our options and and cost benefits. They were one of the four contractors we met with and were by far the most professional and their price was reasonable - not the lowest but very fair for the quality of work. They met all commitments; removed the old units and installed the new one's in a neat professional manner. Kim, the co-owner cordinated the work around our schedule and even applied for the PG&E credit on our behalf. Lee was the lead technician and did a high quality job. It was an unusually smooth process from beginning to end.

ALavine's Heating & Cooling
A very positive experience. Initial quote was nearly $17k, but due to the down real estate market and my desire to go with a local, established company, they ultimately agreed to do everything for $11k, which included pulling permits. They had a no payment no interest for one year plan. The work was very professional and the customer service simply outstanding. They literally sent someone to Sacramento to pick up the specific very quiet air conditioner I had researched online. When I spoke with Dale, the owner, about which filters my new furnace needed, he commented that I had been so nice that he was sending someone to the house with a case of them for me at no charge. Alfonso was the lead guy on my project and he was awesome. There was some follow up work that needed to be done and the company returned on time each day needed until the work was done.

CA-1 Heating and Cooling
There were a few things that went wrong, that weren't entirely their fault, but it was enough to not warrant a perfect rating here. First, when they did the estimate, they failed to notice that as-is, my panel would need an upgrade. Turns out it would cost another $5,000 and 3 months for PG&E to do this, with the other alternative to replace other electric appliances (stove, dryer) with gas. The original estimate was 2 days of work, but it took the entire week (M, T, W, Th, Fri) for them to finish. They tested the A/C and it was working fine, but failed to realize that this disconnected my 6.6kW car charger (where the cable runs directly from the panel and is visible on the outside directly from the panel to the outside of the garage where the charger is), and mistook it for a hot tub switch and disconnected it. I told them I need my car charger, so they moved it to the same switch as the dryer, tested the dryer, and then left. I soon noticed that they never reconnected the air conditioning, and we had to go through a few 90-100 degree days before they got back to me and fixed it. They also accidentally disconnected my solar panels, so I was without solar for a few days. They had to go into the crawl space, and one night I didn't notice until late that they never closed it back up (so at first I was a bit concerned that a racoon could have entered the house this way, since not all the crawlspaces are not perfectly sealed, and we've had racoons once in a while in the back yard.) There was also an incident where they were installing things, and a pipe came loose because it was either not installed properly or not glued. They glued it again and I'm hoping there are no issues, but I haven't inspected their work in the crawlspace to know for sure that there's no leaks or loose pipes (and have taken their word for it). Ultimately everything finally worked a few weeks after the installation, but it was a bit rougher of an installation than I expected.

Ron is a California licensed contractor. From start to finish, Ron is a class act. His prices were reasonable, showed up for his appointments on time, had all the parts, tools and equipment to preform the job, neat and clean work, and cleaned up and removed all debris. When finished he explained all that he did and reviewed the operation of the items that he installed.  I have referred him to friends and they had the same experience I had. I am extremely satisfied.
