Recent Review: Fantastic! Mark Rivard has performed a number of services for us. When we bought our house, the backyard was overgrown and unusable. Mark took the time to understand my wife’s ideas and implemented them perfectly. We now have a backyard that we love. The backyard has truly been transformed. Mark’s professionalism and hardworking attitude are second to none. He worked methodically and we could not be happier.

Killinger's Excavating
Recent Review: In a word, great. As a first-time homeowner with substantial knowledge and experience in trades and construction, I was out of my depth with the task of making my in-ground pool go away and getting the old asphalt driveway and garage apron prepared for new concrete. My original plan was to demolish the pool using small tools like cut-off saws, concrete drills, electric hammers, sledge hammers, etc. After draining the pool and spending the better part of a day trying to drill through the pool wall and bottom, I realized that this was NOT the way to go. What I had envisioned as a couple of weekends with a friend to help turned out to be my version of the Pyramids. I found Mr. Killinger through his Craigslist ad and chose him over the three other contractors I found. Mr. Killinger drove over the next day to look at the project. I was taken by his approachable and authentic personality. As he explained the details of how he would attack the job, what the charges would be (different rates for different tasks and implements) I quickly grew to trust him. And I was not disappointed. Mr. Killinger showed up as scheduled the first day... I was VERY NERVOUS as I knew that I was embarking on a commitment for a substantial financial outlay (entire project including concrete). He had the pool, pool apron, and block wall completely demolished and graded over in less than eight hours. He had a hammer attachment for his backhoe that made my pool crumble like a house of cards. I was relieved! Mr. Killinger came back multiple times as I muddled through the task of planning and grading my driveway pour. He recommended some additions to my project that I wouldn't have considered without his input. He probably saved me $10K over the life of the entire project. I did rate him as a 'B' on punctuality, but he made every effort to communicate changes in his schedule as soon as possible. I've worked with many contractors over the years, and Ernie is top-notch. His ability with the machinery and his straight-forward manner left me with little doubt that I was in the best of hands. I wouldn't hesitate to reach out to him for further excavation work nor would I hesitate to recommend him. Mr. Killinger saved my bacon!

Concrete Landscape Services
Recent Review: I received three estimates for a small concrete excavating job in my backyard. Ron gave a fair price and understood immediately what I wanted done. Ron was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The work was done quickly and Ron's crew cleaned up wonderfully. I would not hesitate to call him again.

AEDDIE MULLINS LANDSCAPING
We have had a goldfish pond with a waterfall for 12yrs.  The waterfall packed up a few years ago but the fish survived. Many of the rocks had fallen in over time and although there was a full clean out each fall it was beginning to look very neglected.  I was so impressed with the work done by Mr. Mullins on our side yard that when he said he liked working on Koi ponds I asked how he would go about giving our pond a makeover. He tried to explain to me what it would look like and even sent pictures by e-mail but I am not very good at visualization, so it was with some trepidation that I gave him the go ahead. We cannot believe the transformation.  All rocks were removed, the liner was found to be defective (replacement of the liner was not part of the original plan but Mr. Mullins said he would include a new liner in the price he quoted). The pond was widened and 2 tiers of shelves were fashioned to accommodate plants at various depths. Then the waterfall area was built up with soil that he brought in along with large amounts of rocks and boulders of all sizes.  We now have a 5 tier waterfall with a cave for the goldfish. The base of the pond is covered in smooth pebbles of various colors and looks great. We had a trailing Rosemary before ...now we have two the original plant was divided and now we have one on each side. It took 3 days to complete the project.  I had no idea when I asked him to perform the renovation that so much both heavy and intricate work would be involved.  Everything went exactly as he had said it would.  All areas around the pond were cleared and cleaned as part of the job. He told me if I have any problems in the future he will come and deal with them and I believe him.  We cannot say enough in his praise.  He is the best contractor we have worked with in the past 20 yrs. We were so impressed that we were happy to pay for the liner and that is why the amount paid was more than the price quoted.

David was awesome start to finish, and is a contractor with integrity who knows his craft. His crew left the area clean, he kept in constant contact with us to ensure the job met our expectations, and really helped us smooth over a snafoo with our neighbors. We couldn't be happier with the work he and his crew performed.

AThe Trenchless Co
All the Trenchless work proceeded on schedule with minimum interruption of sewer services to the house.  City work was completed on time. However, city worker, work was not up to code and failed inspection. Trenchless personnel corrected all city worker issues and got the job inspected and approved. I was extremely satisfied with all Trenchless work on this project!

Called him for estimate on excavation work because I found him here on Angie's List, plus online review with Google indicated that he served Sacramento County.  However, when he called and we started discussing the project, he said he wouldn't come out for an estimate and that ended our conversation.  Just updating information for Angie's List

ADavid Morris Concrete Construction
We're extremely happy with the concrete work by David Morris, it's just as we had envisioned.  It was definitely not an easy job for several reasons.  There is limited access to the back yard, so no large equipment could be used, requiring all excavation to be done by hand.  Making it even more labor intensive were huge tree roots from a 30-year-old tree we had removed recently.  Also, we've had drainage problems for some time due to clogged drains, most likely from tree roots.  David addressed the problem by grading the area and installing a new system of drains. David is very honest, personable, and a true professional.  We had scheduled the job well in advance and were delighted when he was able to start a few days ahead of schedule.  David kept us informed of their schedule and the crew arrived on time each day.  The job was more difficult and took longer than expected due to problems that could not be anticipated until excavation had begun.  However, David did not complain and honored his original proposal.  His crew was polite, respectful, and worked diligently for nearly 4 days in extremely hot weather.  Thank you David and your crew for our beautiful new patio and walk, an A+ job!!

ARivard's Earthworks, Inc.
Once in awhile you find a business that is exceptional - that's my experience in every way with Rivard's Earthworks. This is an owner/operator operation. Mark is a master handling his TB145 Compact Excavator. Mark cleared a large section of our property. We have real problems with volunteers from a Tree of Heaven - they seem to be everywhere. Mark came in and removed roots and all. He also cleared wood and debris left over from a fire that was on our property - he hauled off about 5 tons of debris. His work was exceptional and as promised. His finish work left our land looking like it had been contoured by hand. At first I was skeptical about a "compact" excavator - boy was I wrong. This thing gets the job done and Mark wastes no time as the operator. Visit their website and view him in action on YouTube. This is one of those businesses that restores your faith in quality service. His estimate was VERY reasonable and MUCH lower that others. I'm a believer!! I will be using this service again.

We couldn't have asked for a better, more professional (or nicer) team than Erik, Chris and Brian. They worked with us to provide a detailed plan. They communicated regularly and executed right on schedule (unless weather got in the way - this was a very wet year). They have checked back several times to see how the plants are doing. I have already recommended them to friends and wouldn't hesitate to work with them again.
