Heat exchanger had a small leak in the solar tank. Tom from solar consultants found the problem and fixed the problem. Very professional and very reasonable priced. Very good service.

I called Clayton after another company said my furnace needed to be replaced. He examined it and reassured me that while the furnace was old and not efficient, it was working fine. He cleaned it, adjusted it, checked the heat exchanger and discussed options for when it reached the end of its life span. Clayton was friendly and knowledgeable.

SERVICE TECHNICIAN WAS POLITE. AFTER HE FINISHED HIS WORK HE CAME IN TO GIVE ME HIS RECOMMENDATIONS. SEEMS HE HAD FOUND PROBLEMS WITH OUR HEAT EXCHANGER. HE SAID HE PERFORMED A ''WATER TEST'' AND FOUND THAT THE HEAT EXCHANGER LEAKED. BUT NOW HE HAD PUT THE FURNACE BACK TOGETHER AND COULD NOT SHOW ME! I HAD 2 SUBSEQUENT INSPECTIONS TO THIS FURNACE AND IT WAS VERY EASY TO ACCESS THIS HEAT EXCHANGER. I ASKED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE FURNACE AND HAVING IT SHUT DOWN (RED TAGGED). THE TECHNICIAN SAID HE DID NOT WANT TO DO THAT TO ME! AS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED, I HAD 2 SUBSEQUENT INSPECTIONS. ONE WAS SDGE. NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND BY EITHER COMPANY. THE TECHNICIAN ALSO RECOMMENDED TO ADD AIR CONDITIONING (I LIVE BY THE COAST)AND BETTER AIR FILTRATION AND TO TOP IF OFF, I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL THE NEXT DAY TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A FREE ESTIMATE ON MY NEW HEATER. I AM TICKED!!!!

Very well, Tom the technician was prompt, professional and explained everything he did. He provided a lot of education and information about our heating systems. He replaced a capacitor on our forced air unit which should help it to last longer. The other units are old and he recommended replacing them. They are functioning properly but lack some safety features that new units have. He checked CO levels and heat exchangers on all units and they were fine.

We called Charlie who quoted us $125. to dismantle part of the heater to determine if the heat exchanger was indeed cracked. Charlie checked it out, cleaned the furnace, said it was fine, no cracks. He voluntarily lowered his price to $90 because it took him less time than he figured. The furnace is working as good as new. This is a refreshing experience. Highly recommend.

I bought the package and they called to set up an appoinment. I was pleasantly surprised since the package said I was to call them. The technician arrived on time and was friendly. First he checked for gas leaks, I couldn't smell anything, but the equipment he had buzzed in a few places. He then showed me some exterior cracks (without even looking in the furnace), told me my heat exchanger was bad and suggested I shut off my furnace until it was replaced. We discussed options, set up an appointment for an estimate and he unplugged the furnace, shut the gas off, placed a red sticker on it and left. Since I have a carbon monoxide detector and didn't smell any gas, I reconnected everything while deciding what to do next. The next day they came out and gave me a quote for $9000 to replace the furnace and air. I then searched around for a second opinion. This guy pulled the cover off the heat exchanger, showed that the cracks were all in the cover, cleaned the furnace and told me it was fine, for now. Since the furnace is 26 years old who knows when it'll actually go, but I won't be callinh Anderson when it does...

ACentral Heating & Air
I cannot tell you enough good things about Charlie, the owner of Central Heating and AC.  He is honest to the core, very knowledgeable, great sense of humor, and overall a very pleasant person to deal with.  Last year we were falsely told that we had a cracked heat exchanger by one of the big companies (hopefully by an inexperienced technician and not due to dishonesty).  We did not use the heater at all last winter, because we were concerned about safety (carbon monoxide poisoning) and we could not afford to replace the heater.   Charlie fully inspected the heat exchanger, even taking the heater apart to verify that no cracks existed, and serviced the entire system.  He then fixed our very questionable venting system, making sure that our heat was evenly distributed, and most importantly safe.    Other companies that we called  would not service our heater (it is likely  30 to 40 years old).  But Charlie, having worked in the heating and construction industry for so long, was not phased at all by our heater.  He literally saved us thousands of dollars.  I highly, highly recommend him.

A technician was called because my heater wasn't working. He did an inspection, free with Angie's List coupon. He found a cracked heat exchanger. He knew nothing about new heaters and this required a second appointment with a salesman. Anthony was thorough with his information and recommendations. He gave us a several choices to choose from. They came with the new unit, and the two workers took about 4 hours to replace the unit. They also replaced all of the old insulation on the vent pipe.I now have a beautiful furnace! They were extremely neat, vacuuming the garage after. They left it neater than when they came.

Don't use them. Their work on the heater and heating system in my mother-in-laws rental home in San Diego put our renters in a life threatening situation and put our property at high risk according to an inspection done by SDG&E and an independent, paid heating contractor. Our renters have not had access to heat in their home since the start of the November 2012 cold season in San Diego. Specific Heater installation problems and resulting damage include: 1. Forced Air Unit (FAU) is not working 2. Venting was run backwards 3. Vented into asbestos pipe which is both a code and warranty violation 4. Burned up the Circuit Board 5. No voltage to the gas valve 6. Heat Exchange Impulse Motor Housing is rusted and dangerous 7. The furnace, venting, FAU, circuit board and heat exchange impulse motor housing must be completely replace ! When I call the Manager, he is conveniently never available and does not return my calls.

AThompson Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning
The service went very well. Matt offered several alternatives, in terms of brand and features. We chose two-stage Trane units for both the furnace and the AC. Nate and Jeff did a great job with the installation. The installation looks tight and shipshape, and it passed required inspections with no problem. Nate and Jeff were a pleasure to interact with. They were careful not to make a mess and cleaned up well afterwards. While working on the ducts, they discovered a huge break in our existing ducts, which required a cutting into the drywall from a closet for access. They kept us informed and did a clean job, which will make the required patching easy. The AC blows a lot more cool air now than it did before the work was done! Also, the new outside condenser is quieter. (One minor note is that the new outside condenser is larger than the old one, which I didn't expect. It's okay, but you might want to look into the sizes of units, along with other specifications, when deciding what to get.) Overall, Thompson did an excellent job at a good price, and they made the process easy.

Recent Review: Action Air had installed the furnaces in our home when it was built 11 years ago. They have worked without issue, but I figured after 11 years, it was time to have them cleaned and inspected. Action is running a great special - $69 Tune up and inspection - so we had them come back out. Bill Smith showed up in the first 30 minutes of the 2 hour service window. He did an incredibly thorough job, spending an hour on each furnace. Beyond the thorough cleaning, changing of filters, confirming integrity of heat exchangers, etc, he tested and made adjustments to the gas pressure fueling the burners (it was 50% too high) and tested all the electronics, identifying a marginal blower motor capacitor to keep an eye on. Bill also had some great tips on furnace filters and ways to optimize heat and AC performance.
