Recent Review: I had a room addition and complete remodel of my 1979 home.  Rod installed all new plumbing and gas lines for 3 full bathrooms, new kitchen appliances which included gas range, oven, refrigerator, sink, garbage disposal, tankless water heater, washer and dryer and sewer cleanout line.  He has superb knowledge of all aspects for the above mentioned jobs.  He and his assistants are very  professional  and courteous.  He was always able to keep on the construction schedule. I trusted him to do the job correctly and he didn't disappoint.  He is my plumber for life!

Recent Review: He did excellent work. He was prompt and efficient. He is very smart and was able to figure out the programming on our new water heater. He was also willing to get dirty--he had to crawl under the house for the gas line installation.  He was not very talkative, though.

Recent Review: This was my second use of Folkrod Plumbing in 3 weeks. The first event was a clogged main drain line. I am new to the area and picked Folkrod Plumbing based upon others reviews. I had a plumber at my door in less than 30 minutes after calling. The drain line was cleared within an hour. The plumber, Tavis, was professional, thorough, and pleasant. 3 weeks later, I discovered 2 leaks in my waterline. I contacted Folkrod Plumbing once again. I was pleasantly surprised when Tim arrived at my door as soon as he was finished with a previous appointment. Tavis once again arrived to handle the job. I asked if it would be possible to handle a few other plumbing issues while he was here. Tavis handled the leaks and all my other requests quickly and efficiently. It is obvious that Tavis enjoys his job, takes pride in his work, and he takes great care in leaving the area clean. I am a Folkrod customer for life.

Recent Review: At 11:30am the day before we were to go out of town for Christmas, I noticed that our hot water heater was leaking. My son was able to turn off the gas to the unit, but the water valve was frozen open. I called Power Plumbing because I have used them before and was relieved when they said they could get someone out that day. At 4pm a two man team arrived, inspected the situation, suggested I also have a catch pan put in that drains into the garage (my water heater is in the laundry room), and gave me an estimate. I asked if there was an additional charge since they were here so late in the day and I was told that 'overtime' was not charged until after 7pm. One of them stayed and removed my old unit while the other went and picked up the new water heater. My water intake valve was changed out to a lever style so that it would not freeze up like the old one, new (up to code) gas lines were installed, the water heater was strapped to the wall per earthquake requirements, and the catch pan was put in. Juan also informed me that the gas lines to my furnace were no longer up to code and should be replaced, then gave me a $20 coupon toward that service. He also gave me a 10% discount for being a repeat customer (he tried to give it as a senior discount but I am not quite 55 yet, lol). They were finished around 7pm, cleaned up nicely, and we were able to travel for the holiday with peace of mind.

DJerry's Plumbing & Heating
Day 1 My wife comes home to a note on the door from the gas company that indicates we have a leak and the gas is turned off - call a plumber.  I was out of town for work . Day 2 I contacted Jerry's Wednesday morning and they said they could send someone out between 1 and 5pm, so my wife took 1/2 a day off of work so she could meet with them.  The plumber arrived about 10 minutes past 4 and said he needed to isolate the line between the meter and the house so he could pressure test the line.  He crawled under the house and was under there for at least 15 -20 minutes, said he shut off the valve and said he did not have any more time that day and he would come back Thursday to pressure test the line. Day 3 My wife takes another 1/2 day off of work because the plumber estimated he would be there at about 1pm.  He opens up the meter box to pressure test the line, and noticed an obvious hole in the line coming from the meter.  When he noticed the hole he said he could not go any further until the underground utilities were marked.  He said we would likely need to jackhammer the sidewalk and the driveway in order to replace the line from the meter to the house. The marking process could take up to 48 hours and he said he couldn't come back Saturday unless we  wanted to pay double time, so my wife made the appointment for Monday morning.  Day 4 I come home from work at about 4:30 to find that the street, the sidewalk, our driveway and lawn had been painted and marked by the utility companies in three different colors.  I decided to take a look for myself in the meter box and noticed the obvious hole in the line.  I decided to dig a hole to expose the line outside of the meter box to see how it looked.  This took 5 minutes.  I saw that the bad section was a 13 inch section of pipe between the meter and the first 90 degree elbow.  The elbow and the rest of the pipe looked great.  At this point I called Jerry's back to see about getting a guy out on Saturday to replace the 13 inch section of pipe as we were getting desperate to get the gas turned back on, double time or not.  When I called Jerry's the woman I spoke to said Saturday's were billed out like every other day and she could have a guy out between 11 - 1pm on Saturday. Day 5 A different plumber showed up around 1pm on Saturday.  He removed the bad section of pipe, pressure tested the line and then replaced the 13 inch section of pipe that was bad.  I noticed that when he was removing the pressure tester that there was some water coming out of the line, but when I inquired with the plumber he said there was nothing to worry about.  After he left, I crawled under the house to turn the house valve back on (turned off on Day 2 by Jerry's Plumbing) and found out that it had never been turned off in the first place - it was on the whole time.  We then called the gas company out to turn the gas back on.   When the gas company came out they noticed that after they turned the meter back on the gas was not reaching the house.  They locked our meter back up and told us to call the plumber back out.  I disconnected the line where the line had been replaced and blew compressed air from the house to the meter and a bunch of water came out.  I blew it out about a dozen times until no more water came out and then put the pipe back together and called the gas company back out, by this time it was about 8pm.  The gas company showed back up about 9pm, turned the gas on, lit the pilot lights and we were done. Day 6 Nothing happened Day 7 8am - my brother-in-law notices a Jerry's Plumbing van outside our house.  He asked them (the original plumber from Day 2/3) what they were doing.  They had their tools spread out, the meter box opened and were preparing to disassemble the pipe that had just been replaced.  My brother-in-law explained that the pipe had been fixed / repaired by Jerry's Plumbing and they looked shocked.  They asked if there was anything else they needed to do, but there was not, so they left.

We are still waiting to do the work and may or may not use Lanini (still deciding!). The Lanini representative was at the building site on time and called back promptly with a reasonable and competitive bid. They were very polite and respected my desire to do part of the work (trenching) myself.

The first set of work that he did was very good.  So I hired him again to do some more work.  That set of work was very expensive.  The quality of work was so bad that I had to have it redone in six months.  The amount of money spent was at least three times what it was needed to be.  He was arrogant and nasty.  He was very unpleasant to deal with when I started questioning him why it was so much.  The stone that he put around the bathtub is now separating from the bathtub and the walls.  I would never use him again.  I would not recommend him to others.  His responsiveness was pretty good.  He extremely charming and that is how he comes on initially.  He is a big guy and he becomes bad when you confront him.  I couldn’t just back out when I was in the middle of the project.

APaso Robles Heating and Air
Don the owner came out within a few days of calling to assess our situation and gave us several options and recommendations. Within 2 days we had our bid. He came in under $1000 less than the other heating contractor I had contacted who was not prompt. He was very knowledgeable and very pleasant to deal with. Within a few days of our accepting his bid, Eli and another worker, I believe his name was Caleb, arrived with all equipment. It was a difficult job to get the gas line to the furnace and to deal with the insulation we just installed a few minutes before they arrived. Overall it took about 2 days to install this unit. Eli was very smart about solving all the problems and was always in good humor. Caleb was also and both kept their nose to the grindstone until it was finished. They both answered our many questions as they worked hard to get the job done.  After they finished the heater worked perfectly. My wife and I would recommend their services without qualification. Kudos for a job well done.
