Recent Review: On July 9, 2013 John Flores came out to give us an estimate on replacing our counter top. I was looking for someone that can help with the entire project (Demo, counter install, plumbing/electrical hook up and tiling) and John was able to give me a quote for all of it. My first question to him was from start to finish how long will the project take. His response was...Saturday we will do the demo, Wednesday we will install the granite, Thursday we will install the tile and Friday we will connect the plumbing and electrical. My second question to him was when could you start. I was shocked when he told me he had an opening on July 20th...but insisted before he starts demoing that I have all my supplies before. We had less than 2 weeks to buy a new stove, tile, faucet and range hood so we took a deep breath and scheduled the job. I could not have had a more wonderful experience. John helped coordinated our tile purchase with Creative tile and even got us a great deal on the pricing. Saturday came and his crew showed up at 10:30 am to do the demo...they were in and out in less than 1 1/2 hours. They were so thoughtful about making sure they left the house as clean as when they arrived and they helped coordinate a tax deductible pickup for what they tore out. About 10 minutes before they were done demoing the guy came to measure the template for the new counter so once they were done he was ready to do his part. On Tuesday afternoon I received a call from Precision Plastic to confirm my appointment for install on Wednesday at 800. On Wednesday morning 2 gentlemen showed up to do the install which took about 5 hours. Later that afternoon I received a call from Precision Plastic to confirm my appointment for the tile install on Thursday morning at 800. On Thursday morning 2 gentlemen showed up to do the tile install. Later that morning i contacted John to see what time they would be over on Friday to do the plumbing and electrical connection and I was shocked when John said he had time to do it that evening. By Thursday evening my entire Kitchen remodel was done...from start to finish 1 day ahead of schedule. Precision Plastics promised me a timeline and they delivered. All the workers were polite and extremely careful with their work and cleanup. I would most definitely recommend and use them again. I was not only pleased with the granite (which is what they do) but also the demo, plumbing/electrical and tile work. It was such a treat to have 1 person coordinate all the work and workers and not have to do or worry about anything.

Recent Review: Kevin Bier was easy to work with and delivered all he said he would do and then some. His expert opinion when we got stuck on something was valuable and welcomed. He listened to our ideas and finished our job on time as promised. The price was reasonable and his subs (drywall, granite, tile, plumbing) were all professional and quality work. The kitchen turned out beautiful and all we hoped it would be.

Recent Review: I called them and the owner, Mark,  answered the phone himself. He came out the following to day to take a look at my kitchen. He measured and asked me what I wanted to do with it. The kitchen itself was outdated and grimey, and  I wanted to make it look new and  clean. He gave me a great price within my budget. I picked out all the new appliances, and he did all the work. He worked around all of my needs with scheduling appointments. He completed the job and my kitchen now looks great!

Recent Review: I never imagined that my kitchen remodeling can be completely very fast and in a fairly price! Sol and Ben were honest the whole time, consistent, supportive and just easy people to deal with. Before hiring them, I got several estimates and they were all higher than the one I got from Sol. Their estimate also included more things than the other contractors such as higher quality of materials and home automation features such as outlets, lightings and thermostat. As part of the remodeling, sol was able to give me great suggestions on what I can and should include into the design of the kitchen and into the final product. I am very satisfied with the whole thing! Sol went with me to his local vendors where I purchased the items I needed for the kitchen (flooring, tiles, countertops, handles, back splash and more…) – I can't say enough good things about them!

APacific Construction & Design
Our kitchen was a bit too small and uncomfortable because of a separating wall that was between the kitchen to the dining area, so we wanted to make it bigger and lighter and mostly to have the feeling of open space that will enlarge the space since we have the long windows and sliding doors by the dining area.  This remodeling was set in my mind for a while so I needed to put it in action.  I was just afraid it wouldn't be what I have in mind but Pacific design & construction remodeled it the way I really wanted and expected to have. The moment David took down the separation wall at the kitchen, the space become so much bigger with so much light. I also wanted to replace the tile with wood floor and on the walls to have a nice tiles as back splash. David was able to get a great deal for all the materials and the big light creamy color ceramic tile on the floor with a really nice design with some stainless steel appliances and light grey pieces on the walls. Everything was going to look way too nice comparing to the cabinets so new dark brown wood cabinets were done too. I love my kitchen now and will use them in near future for sure.

BHOME DEPOT
I changed backsplashes several times. I am likely to use them again, but I have learned certain things I won't use them for. I might use them for other things. The countertops and cupboards stand out to me. They need to communicate better. I got an estimate from 2 or 3 people and went with Home Depot.

DRYAN AYALA CONSTRUCTION
This is quite long but take the 5-10 minutes to read this if you are seriously considering hiring him.  His workers' craftsmanship is poor to below average at best.  The minor electrical work that was done, I had to tell them to try again because it did not work properly (3-way switch).  Me being an electrician I could have just fixed it myself but that's not what I'm paying them for.  Some of the electrical I saw in addition to the 3-way light switch, was scary.  When I brought it to the owners attention, he denied it and told me his worker said he didn't do that.  To which I wonder who did?  It must have been the guy that walked in off the street while the workers were on lunch and did it.  YEAH RIGHT!!!  I also had to tell them to try the backsplash again.  They pay no attention to  detail.  The backsplash had a pattern to it, which you could see for the first half of the wall, but then the 2nd half didn't follow.  I had to ask them to fix it, which meant take pieces of the glass mosaic out one by one and place them back in, to try to match the pattern.  This turned out to be ok but still not as designed.  I would give the backsplash about a 6 out of 10.  The paint job looked as if my 6 year old child did it.  Apparently they do not own a screwdriver to take off outlet cover plates/ AC vents, because there was paint all over them.  Also masking tape was not used which left paint all over some light switches and baseboards. Also I'm not sure how, but paint ended up on the underside of a fan blade.  How this happens is beyond me.  Total carelessness.  Now for the BIGGEST FLAW of them all.  There was a load bearing wall taken out and a 23 ft beam installed for structural support.  Now I'm no expert on structural engineering but I do know that would probably require a permit, which we talked about during his job walk down and before his bid proposal.  So when the bid proposal came and it said "permits included" I assumed that would be part of it.  That?s what I get for assuming.  Come to find out, when the city inspector came out and asked us about the job he said there was no structural work to be done under the permit that was pulled.  You could imagine my face!!!  He did pull a permit because the bank required one, but he only included minor electrical, plumbing, and ductwork.  Now the inspector will not sign off on the one permit that is open because he now knows there was more work done than what the contractor says.  The contractor now plans on leaving the permit open and not even addressing the beam he installed.  Possibly leaving me with a non-permitted structural problem in the future when I go to sell. If you are not shaking your head yet keep reading.  He told me he wanted an empty house when the inspector came back out, hoping for a different inspector than the original one.  He wanted an empty house so he could lie through his teeth about what work he has done.  I did not give him an empty house.  I was here.  Luckily for me it was the same inspector so I didn't have to tell him he was full of it. The inspector already knew.  After all of that he asks me to sign the letter of completion so the bank will release the last payment to him.  I said no way will I sign a letter of completion because it is not complete in my eyes.  Remember permits included!!!!  Last week he emailed me a letter stating his intent to file a lien on my house for "my refusal of payment due to irrelevant issues."  In the following couple of days I was served with a notice of mechanics lien by the county.  I refuse to let him win now.  I will fight this in court even though it may take more money than what is owed.  It is the principle now at this point.  I wonder how many other customers he has that are oblivious to there non permitted issues.  On multiple occasions he stated that had the bank not required a permit, he wouldn't have pulled one at all because the city is so hard to deal with.  I bet they would be easier to deal with if he followed their rules.  BE CAREFUL...  He is a good talker and he makes everything seem like it is all under control and that he knows everything.  Which I think he does know a lot about building.  He's no dummy.  But He will cut any corner he can to save a couple bucks.  I have an idea on how to save some money.  Do the job right the first time.  Good Luck if you do use him. I sincerely hope you have a better experience than I did.
