Recent Review: Home Turf did a 500 sq ft section of artificial turf in my back yard which wraps around half of my pool. Cale was the guy that came out and gave me the estimate, showed me the samples, and saw the whole job through to completion. The area to be turfed had a couple of very old irrigation valves that stuck above grade about a foot or so. I bought the house (built in '42) recently and one of the unknowns for me was what the landscape irrigation was all about in the back yard. I wasn't sure where the source lines were, where the irrigation lines ran, anything. I wanted to get rid of the valves and whatever else I had to in order to get the grade down the 3"-4" additional that they need to in order to fill with the gravel. I figured this was the only complication to installing the turf. One of the key factors in me going with Home Turf was that due to Cale's presentation the day of the estimate, I got a much better vibe from him overall, but in particular, regarding how he'd deal with the minor hiccups that can come from any significantly sized job done at your house. As it turned out, for such a small area there were a few other surprises. In the corner just under the surface there was a big knarly tree trunk/root ball. It was bigger than a basketball and the guys had to hack at it for a long time just to get it out. Also, I had a huge mystery hunk of concrete just under the surface (likely from recent concrete contractors I had out getting rid of their "extra" concrete). The guys had to jack hammer the thing down into manageable pieces just to carry, and I'd imagine, to dispose of. My point being, the crew took these labor-intensive, time-consuming surprises in stride and just kept on going. The other thing that seemed to differ with this company was that the guy that came out to give the estimate wasn't just the sales guy, but I was made confident that he was going to be the point of contact the whole way through. Fortunately, that turned out to be the case as Cale made sure that I was pleased with the results. To wrap it up, the project turned out great. The turfed area is graded just the way I had asked, and the grass looks awesome.
