Gundlach's Plumbing, Heating, & Air Conditioning
Recent Review: I called and a representative came out for a preliminary look of my house, explained what the diagnostic was going to reveal with respect to the degree of efficiency or lack there-of of my current set-up. I paid a discounted fee which was applicable to any new system I might purchase. Workers showed-up on time and I followed them around as they explained what their instruments revealed:: lack of insulation in interior walls and ceilings; the original cooler had to go; a later installed furnace and refrigeration unit was noisy and grossly inefficient--it had been badly installed in the first place several years back by a different company, in such a way that heat/cool air was escaping through the swamp cooler duct. Installing a good system was not going to be easy, I could see that for my self. My house has no attic. A tiny crawl space was the only access to the ducts. Nevertheless workers were able to install two ceiling exhaust fans, one in each bathroom. In the end I got a two phase Carrier unit where the cooler used to be. Insulation was pumped into the crawl space. The old furnace/refrigeration coil was removed and a new air return or up-take was cut into the ceiling in the hallway, away from the living room. I approved everything Gundlachs suggested except for a new roof raised four inches above the existing roof. My wife and I are very satisfied with our new system, and the good people of Gundlachs are easy to work with.

Recent Review: This man is a licensed General Contractor (License No. 923698) who I found on Craig's List or in the newspaper (I can't remember now which it was) - and I hired him to do some "handyman" work at my home in the spring of last year. The work took a couple of weeks or so and I was very impressed by him. He was polite, clean, friendly and professional. He always showed up when he said he would and was on time. His rate was $25/hour and he did not dawdle - he got the work done and charged me reasonable fees. During every job he gave me an estimate of the time it would take and pretty much accomplished each job in that amount of time. I could not be happier with this guy, and would highly recommend him to ANYONE!

DFloyd's Heating & Air Conditioning
He replaced the Belt, or so I was charged for the second time in 6 months. Normally this part goes bad every 2-5 years. But they missed the bearings that we beginning to make noise. The unit failed 3 months later. This is a 3 year old unit. I have never had to service any other unit in this manner.

BSears Home Improvement Products
Pricing was same as competitors. Company does not provide adequate help for service technician. He was alone so he brought a neighbor friend to help, unknown by Sears. Very inadequate airflow through the vent ductings. Tech used old ducts from swamp cooler that is being held together by rust in some spots as stated by the technician. Before the install, Sears gave a a sheet required by California, that states the vents must meet a required airflow. This was obviously not met. Even the technician acknowledged that. Sears wanted an additional $4000 to replace ducting.
