Recent Review: I contacted Jeff on Monday, November 4, because first I needed an old ceiling fan removed and a new one installed. Second,  I needed my garage door opener installed in a way that is up to code.  Last, I was looking for input on retrofitting incandescent kitchen light cans for LED lighting. Jeff called me back the same day and made an appointment for the following day.  He arrived on time and placed shoe covers on his feet prior to entering my home.  He quickly went to work taking down the old fan, taking care to protect my floors.  My new fan was not easy to install, so I was extremely pleased how Jeff took care to assemble and install my new pride and joy.  Jeff disconnected the original fan controller switches on the wall at my request because the fan works by remote control and iPhone app. Jeff gave me great guidance for converting the incandescent lighting in the kitchen to LED, sending a link to the website and Home Depot with my invoice. He finished the work by removing an old and ugly fluorescent light in the garage so that the garage door opener could be safely plugged in.  He was great at troubleshooting and offering me all the options to correct the problem. Jeff is easy to work with, professional, and obviously skilled.  I would not hesitate to hire him again should the need arise.

Recent Review: I was looking for a handyman to work on my mother's condo when I am not in town.  She is in her late 80's.  After reading Angie's list reviews decided to try Sam the Handyman. Sam was prompt, polite and professional.  He completed the tasks requested with ease.  After speaking with him during the repairs I felt comfortable having my mom use him for any tasks needed when I am not in town. I will recommend him to any person who needs home help, and will use him again in the future in a heartbeat.

Recent Review: Over two days, I had five different guys (2 originally on the first day, augmented by 1 to better complete the attic insulation part of the job) and two the next day for left over projects. All five individuals were excellent in what they did. It might have been better to have had the same guys both days but as it turned out they all had their strengths and it went very well. The estimator (Marcus) insisted that the job be completed as originally agreed to even though I was willing to do a couple of finishing touches myself. I chose to have a number of items completed at the same time to check off items that were on a checklist I've maintained for a decade. Some of which I've tried to unsuccessful complete and others that just came about. If figure I got what I paid for plus some. I especially appreciated the oversight by Marcus and the work by the five individuals who completed the work. At no time was I concerned about any of them being in my home. For the most part I stayed out of the way. There was actually a short third day for painting over some ceiling repair work. Again, excellent job. I couldn't be happier. I will call them if I have other items build up on my list in the future.

Recent Review: He is a general all round handyman and is outstanding. We had an issue with the roof and we had water damage in the house. They had to replace a wall and redo everything on both sides. He brought in a sheet rock man to help. The room was 50 years old and they matched the texture where it needed to be matched. You couldn't get any better. I was very, very pleased. He put on security doors and put on a couple doors. Repainted some of the outside. He said he could have done the roof too, but I didn't know that at the time. He just does everything. His price is very fair. He looks at the job and gives you a bid. Four years ago I had him redo the living room. Crown mouldings and took down the popcorn ceiling. He always has people waiting for him because he is that good. If you can get him, hire him.

THEY ARE RELIABLE AND CONSCIENTIOUS. THEY WILL DO ALMOST ANYTHING IN THE WAY OF HOME REPAIRS AND ALSO A MINIMAL AMOUNT OF YARD WORK. IF SOMETHING IS BEYOND THEIR CAPABILITY (ADVANCED PLUMBING OR WIRING), THEY WILL NOT TAKE THE JOB. THEY AREN'T HANDYMEN; THEY'RE HANDY WOMEN!

AA Better Choice Painting
Painted exterior of house, scraped popcorn ceiling, removed wallpaper from 1 wall, textures and painted two |Bedrooms.  They were great the house looks brand new. Update 5/6/2014 Two weeks after the original job was complete we notified them that there was an issue with the exterior paint on the hose with the paint cracking. They said they would come do needed touch ups the week after Christmas 2014. We purchased the extra paint and waited... But they didn't come and didn't perform the warranty work. In April we ended up hiring another painter to repaint two of our exterior walls. When I contacted them to ask them to pay for a portion of the painter I had hired they did say they were still willing to come do the touch up, but it was too late we had already given them a A long time to perform and had lost confidence that they would really come do the work - and we had already hired another painter.

AMike's Handyman Service & Drywall Repair
In summary, Mike was skilled and efficient. First, his bid for the work came in substantially lower the the two other bids I obtained. Second, he has tremendous skill floating walls. It is NOT easy to create a level and smooth surface in an old house with plaster walls. Did I mention that this job was 600 sq ft of floating?:) It usally takes a lot of time, which is why the other bids came in so much higher. I also want to say that the other two companies I had bid the job recommended installing thin drywall board over the entirety of the room. This was not my preference as the ceiling was already low and I didn't want to lose any more space. Mike was able to float a very thin surface over the texture and rough patches to my exact preferences. Third, the grinding/smoothing the concrete was also a bear of a job, and Mike was willing and able. Finally, Mike was constantly offering me great advice to improve the overall finish of the room. He suggested base boards and crown molding around the windows, which I had originally not wanted as I wanted a more 'roughed in' look. He advice turned out to be great and I am very happy with the end result. He even threw in the cutting of the base boards/molding and painting of the room at no addtional cost. Overall, Mike seemed very invested in this project. That type of investment means Mike will go the extra mile to make your finshed results look great.

AF P HANDYMAN
The room is beautiful -- looks like it's in a brand new house. Francisco's workmanship is excellent. The new texture on the ceiling matches the walls perfectly. His painting is clean and even - the line between the wall color and ceiling color is perfectly straight. He cleaned up after himself. He is easy to work with and sets very high standards for himself. He starts on the next room tomorrow. After seeing the finished product, I've decided to have him do the entire house!

ATenorio's Construction & Handyman Service
I recently decided to redecorate my upstairs loft space into a den with a combination of beadboard paneling and wallpaper on the walls, topped with crown molding. After scraping the popcorn ceiling off myself, I had wallpaper installed on the upper 54" of the walls. Among the several handymen I called for estimates for the beadboard and crown installation, Manuel was clearly the most responsive. He arrived at my house on time and gave me an estimate based on what I had in mind, but he also offered a key suggestion to improve the aethetics of my project that I hadn't considered. He noted that it might look better to sheathe with plywood/trim and paint the back of a large dark wooden beam adjacent to my den to match the ceiling and crown molding color. After the contract was signed, Manuel and his son arrived on time on the scheduled day to begin work. They first installed the beadboard paneling I had pre-painted and consulted me at various points for my preference on small stylistic details. The crown molding I had purchased at first seemed as though it would be problematic to install, but they found a solution. They had to come back another day to install the plywood sheathing. The sheathing, it turns out, had some minor defects, so Manuel returned it for new pieces. This is another example of attention to detail and quality control that Manuel exhibited, something I really appreciated. On that second day I added two additional tasks to the work to be done: skimming and smoothing out some rough spots on the ceiling I had scraped; and rewiring the ceiling junction to work on a dimmer switch and installing the fixture I had purchased. It took another half day of work to get everything completed, but now that I've finished up the painting, I couldn't be happier with the outcome. It was the positive profile of Manuel in the Angie's List Magazine earlier this year that prompted me to include him in getting estimates, and I'm glad I did. This was one of the best experiences I've had with Angie's List and I would highly recommend him to others.

Shawn gave us an estimate and we scheduled him to install a ceiling fan in two bedrooms. I was amazed at how he was able to put in the heavier duty bar through the small hole in the ceiling for the existing ceiling light without having to go into the attic. The fans work fine with the remotes and he had to change the code on one of the remotes so it would not control both fans at the same time.

There were some things that had fallen down from the ceiling of the garage and it was a huge mess. He cleaned all that up and took down the stuff that had been jerry-rigged to the ceiling. He?s really worth what you pay for and he did an excellent job.

AGridiron Construction
Josh shows up on time if not early, his work is very professional. He is very knowledgeable and gladly offers advice. When he installed the new toilets he used wax less rings. He is the first contractor that I have come across in 30 years that actually used shims on the toilets to insure that that they were level and didn't rock instead of doubling the wax rings and cranking the nuts down. When he identified potential issues he took care of them, or told me how to take care of the issues myself. He handles changes to the scope of work really well. My shower has been fixed several times by my home warranty people, only to start leaking again. Josh was able to get the right parts and fix it for good. Since I found Gridiron Construction and Josh I now use him to inspect homes prior to purchase for potential problems and estimates on cost of repairs.
