Recent Review: Thalen Painting was among the six exterior painting companies that provided estimates for painting our house. Herb Thalen, the owner of the company, examined the house, explained our options, and pointed out items that needed attention. He was very knowledgeable and left me with the impression that Thalen Painting was an honest company that would do a good and thorough job. Although they did not get the job, I don't think you could go wrong with Thalen Painting.

Recent Review: Brunelle's is a quality painting company that gave us a fair quote on the exterior painting of our house and sheds along with repairing our sheds. We are very happy with their work as well as the twins' stories and their employees' professionalism and work ethic. We had the work done last October and the paint just gets better and better. We love the colors that we chose and would recommend this company!

Reviews in Lower Lake for Deck Painting

AO'Connor Painting
Ty O"Connor did an excellent job.  I live out of state and had to deal long distance with contractor while he painted our home.   I contacted several painters in the Sonora area (May 2014). The recommended painters from friends & builders were to busy with projects so I went thru BBB, Angie's List, & paint store recommendations.  I was in Sonora for a week explaining to different painters what I wanted and getting estimates. Over half of contacted paint contractors never showed up. A few contractors turned down the project because of extensive scrapping & prep work. Finally received several estimates. O'Conner Painting was in the middle/low price range. I told him what I wanted and he explained how he was going to do it. I went with him after looking at a few houses he had previously painted and more explanations of how he was going to complete the job. NOW THE HARD PART: (Aug/Sept 2014) Because I live out of state and was not in Sonora, I had to rely on his honesty.  He did exactly what he said he would do and did an excellent job, power washing, lots of scraping, sanding, priming and 2 coats of paint. HOW DO I KNOW: Lucky for me and unknown to him I had my neighbors and renter watch and take pictures of his work. Also my son made several trips to check his work.  The finished job looks excellent, He cleaned up any debris and paint splatters, and he charged exactly what was on the estimate.  I would use O'Connor Painting again.

ABrad And Dad Painting
eager to pleaseGreat experience. Brad and Dad (Les) and Josh arrived on time and on schedule. They thoroughly prepped the outside of the house, sanding and scraping every inch of the walls and eaves. The entire exterior was primed, then painted, in four colors: Medium gray walls, dark gray foundation walls, flat white eaves and semi-gloss white trim. They were extremely professional, even to taping drop cloths to the concrete walks adjacent to the house. They were all friendly, eager to please and thorough. Any questions or requests I made were dealt with immediately. Cleanup was excellent, and they went out of their way to make the process painless for me. Price was about 20% higher than the low bidder but I had a good feeling and it paid off. Highly recommended and will hire again.

ABrent's Best Painting
Brent was very professional. He showed up on time ready to work. He took his time with the prep work, He scraped, patched and sealed all the trim. Brent helped with the paint selection. He was very responsive to the small amount of touchup need during the final walk thru. I would use his services again and recommend him highly.

AB PAINTING
John was the first bid, highest bid and only one who showed up on time to give a bid. He was professional and to the point. He showed up when he said and performed the work flawlessly and on time for the stated price.

ARandy the painter
Did fantastic work. The house had been neglected and needed painting. Since it was a wood exterior it needed priming which was done thoroughly and well. The house was very well painted. Looks great. Lots of attention to detail and did a couple of things I didn't ask for. For example, cleaned and painted the light post to match the house. He really knows what he is doing and takes pride in his work. I am thoroughly satisfied. It was a lot of work and the price was reasonable.

AGTL Construction Inc
GTL was great to work with. Tommy really knows his stuff, and provided an accurate, timely bid.  Alicia runs the office, and she was great to work with as well.  She over-communicated - something I really appreciated when trying to coordinate my work schedule and little concerns I had about the job.  They handled it well.  She always got back to me - usually within a few hours.  We communicated mainly through email which was very convenient. Tommy's employees were prompt, polite and worked really hard... even one of my neighbors came by to tell me how hard they were working while I was at work! They also recommended a stone mason to put up rock facing around the front of the house.  That all went very well too. There were concerns along the way as one would expect, but nothing out of the ordinary.  What was unique in my experience was the response, the communication and their desire to do the best job possible.  The house looks brand new, and we are very pleased with the work done.  Nice job guys!

FTrimWorks Construction Inc
My conversation with David Williams began after he completed some handyman work in our home. The discussion began with the instillation of rain gutters, to painting the trim, only to decide to have the house painted first and the rain gutters to be installed after that. Much to my disappointment, I agreed to have the house painted based on an estimate that was presented to me by David Williams. The estimate read $2400 for painting the exterior house and trim, including prep work. I believed this to be a reasonable expense based on a discussion with David about a new exterior paint that is better for the climate here in the Antelope Valley, he mentioned that it contained some type of epoxy. The amount was more than I wanted to pay but as a homeowner we wanted the best for our home. As it turned out the paint used was Dunn Edwards. Clearly we were miss led, and were taking David at his word. Right before the job was to begin, David stated that he misspoke about the type of paint; however no reduction in price was ever mentioned. We were not completely happy with the situation and decided to move forward away, based on the information I obtained via the internet. With 2/3rds of the job completed the painter, whom David had subcontracted the job to, ran out of paint. Later that day David contacted us via telephone to inform us that the price of the job will have to be increased by $400.00. This was due to the addition 10 gallons of paint needed to complete the job. David explained that the stucco absorbed more paint than he thought, and besides he said he wasn?t charging us for labor. Needles to say we found this very distasteful and upsetting. However I had agreed to a price based on an Estimate, an open ended estimate, with no detail dollar amounts indicated or listed. I should have listened to my inner voice and take the time to get more estimates. And then only agree when I had a written binding contract in front of me. Based on an estimate believing I was getting better quality paint, I handed David a deposit check in the amount of $1000.00, with the final expense total of $2800, all based on an estimate. I would like to include that the painter David subcontracted the job to do, was excellent. As was his workman ship, professionalism, promptness, attention to detail and addressing what ever questions we had, all excellent. The experience was not unfortunately and due to the increased cost, I still don?t have rain gutters. Our home is a single story 3 bed room house consisting of a stucco exterior. All I can say is that at 57 years old I?m still learning a lesson. I highly advise anyone who is even thinking about having any kind of work done by David Williams, do you homework first and get all the details in writing.

BCOLLEGE PRO HOME PAINTERS
WE WORKED WITH FRANCHISE THAT WAS MANAGED BY A VERY PROFESSIONAL YOUNG MAN (NO LONGER WITH CP). THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE FIRST CREW (LOUD MUSIC, RAUCOUS BEHAVIOR), BUT THEY WERE FIRED AFTER TWO DAYS (I HAD NOT YET COMPLAINED, SO I DON'T KNOW WHY). THE NEW CREW WAS BETTER, BUT THEY HAD THE CHALLENGE OF FIXING SOME THINGS DONE INCORRECTLY BY THE FIRST CREW (WRONG PRIMER, SLOPPY PREP). THE NEW CREW, WHILE COURTEOUS AND DILIGENT, ALSO HAD PROBLEMS. ONE BOY BROUGHT A SPRAYER FROM HIS DAD'S GARAGE TO HASTEN THE JOB (I HAD SPECIFICALLY BEEN TOLD IT WOULD ALL BE BRUSHED), WHICH GOT PAINT ALL OVER THE WINDOWS. THEY THEN HAD TO SCRAPE AND REPAINT WHERE IT WAS THIN. TWO HAD MINOR ACCIDENTS. THEY DID A SLOPPY JOB OF FINISHING UP AND HAD TO REDO A LOT OF TRIM, ETC. AFTER THEY LEFT ON THE ''LAST DAY,'' I SAW MANY MISSED PLACES (40-50?) AND THEY HAD TO COME BACK. I DID LOTS OF ''SUPERVISING''--CP IS NOT FOR THOSE PEOPLE WHO CAN'T BE HOME CONSTANTLY TO WATCH. FINAL QUALITY GETS AN A+; OTHERWISE, A

ASHAWN'S PAINTING
The house was very weathered on the outside and required a lot of prep work. The painters were on time each day and worked well around our two dogs. They answered all my questions and offered advice of various paint concerns.
