Recent Review: Steve can out fixed the problem and made some suggestions on other issues around the house. For the time Steve spent and helpful suggestions the price was very reasonable. Steve was very honest, things he thought were too much for him he said so and made suggestions.

Recent Review: Excellent. They were on time and on price. They came out a day or two after I first called them to give me an estimate. The work was completed a few days later. They guaranteed their work for the life of the home. They also gave me a discount since I was an angie's list member.

Recent Review: Went very well.  Dan returned my initial contact call within a day I believe.  Quote took perhaps a week.  I did check up with him on status so a little persistence was in order but not hugely so.  Scheduled within a few days, with some limitations on my part. Crew of 3 showed up as scheduled.  Crew was friendly and enthusiastic.  Work performed was much above par, definitely met all my expectations. Crew was also very professional, and I mention this because I've been around construction people and contractors a lot and am aware of the crude and vulgar language, discussions and attitudes that can be prevalent.  This crew displayed none of this. Enjoyed the experience and would use Dan and his group again.

Award 2018Super Service Award
Business Description: I enjoy providing home improvement craftsmanship! Much of my childhood was spent building things in the garage with my Dad. Later, I attended CSU Sacramento where I earned a BS in Construction Engineering Management. I spent the first twelve years of my career working for a steel fabricator as a project manager. I missed the satisfaction of working with my hands, so I ventured out on my own and started Build Craft Inc. Build Craft Inc. is a licensed General Contractor specializing in handyman repairs and home management services. With my background in fabricating metal and wood, I strive to provide quality home improvement craftsmanship. Much of my work is scheduled on a time and material basis. This allows me to provide high-quality work and more open communication. A fixed price motivates the contractor to give less and be less attentive to the customer's needs. Profitability is increased as cheaper materials are substituted, faster shortcuts are employed, and problems are ignored. Don't be fooled... "The bitterness of poor quality lasts long after the sweetness of a low price is gone." My goal is to meet your expectations. Your satisfaction is guaranteed! LICENSE: #870405. Award winning.

Business Description: In business in 2007 when I realized the satisfaction I received from working on one of my landlords houses and the other various projects that he had me do. It was then I realized that I needed to quit working for other companies as an employee and to stop being just a number. I also started this company so that I could spend extra time with my daughter and support her in the goals that she needed to achieve so that she could be where she wanted to be in life. So I dedicate all of my hard work and effort to her! Owner Operator. Cost determined by hour or by job. No travel charges within service area.

Recent Review: I called and requested an estimate and Pete Russo came out a few days later, right on time. He evaluated the repair items and developed a solution. He gave me a price which I thought was quite fair, then went out and got the necessary materials. The job took one full day in all. He has a creative and analytical approach to problem solving, is efficient and organized in his work, and very professional and pleasant. It is great to find somebody of Pete's caliber that actually wants to do small, not large, jobs.

Recent Review: Kent did an amazing job. He arranged and worked with an engineer to make sure the changes would bring the constructions to code. He worked hard to make sure the solutions were the best trade-offs in terms of cost and impact to finished construction. Our house sits on solid rock. The interior sheer wall required digging a 16 feet long, 12and quot; deep and 12and quot; wide trench in solid rock, and the workers had to use small electric jack hammers because of the limited space to move around. Then they built forms and installed re-bar reinforcement before pouring the concrete. This construction (the concrete wall, sheer boards and wall above that needed additional sheer strength) are not going anywhere! Kent and his team were a pleasure to work with. They were professional and competent. I will hire him again for future projects.

Recent Review: We received our estimate for repair from Nick Morton very quickly and we arranged for the work the following week. This was a two person job so he brought in another reputable handyman service, Dave O'Brien with Folsom Home Repair. They were both great to work with. They explained the process and kept us informed as the job progressed. They raised the beam back up to level about 3/4 of an inch by using jacks, then cut new support blocks on the existing concrete piers which were in good shape. We could immediately tell a difference in how the floor looked and felt. They warned us before beginning that there may be drywall or tile grout cracks because they were raising the floor, but there was no damage from the repair. They did a great job at clean up, even cleaning up debris left by previous service people in the crawl space. We asked them to insulate some water pipes under the house, and they did without charging us.

AProtocol Environmental
I was hesitant to pay anyone to do an inspection for a mold inspection because I've heard so many horror stories, but my allergies at my new rental were killing me so I finally made the call.  I am really glad I did.  Mike is incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to mold and construction - he really did a great job educating me on mold, construction, and air quality in general.  You can tell he is passionate about helping people feel safe and comfortable in their homes.  Mike is a true professional and went way beyond the call of duty (he helped me move some stuff so he could access the crawl space).  Mike found the issue causing the mold (high moisture content due to lack of air circulation and poor ventilation because of broken fan) , recommended a solution that he outlined in detail with me, and even offered to contact my landlord with all the details.  I would highly recommend Mike and Protocol Environmental to anyone with mold or air quality issues.

Steve had come by to solve other problems before: fix a broken lock on my garage door, determine the best course as per making a fountain pump functional, coming up with an amazing scheme to make my crawl space humanely inaccessible to skunks...this guy is quite the find. His prices are reasonable, he is precise and determined without being overbearing, has a fine sense of humor, very easy to get along with. I just wish I could have contacted him when I first moved here.

It went very will.  Jerry showed up the day after my original call and we assesed what needed to be done in this small rental cottage.  The bedroom floor was very uneven and, after crawling about under the house Jerry deternined the problem was that a central joist was too high and the floor joists were not properly connected along the south edge of the structure.  These problems were corrected and the improvement in the floor was marked.  It is still not perfectly level but that would take some major reconstruction and it was agreed that this was more than needed.  The remainder of the levelling can be taken care of by some underlayment when next the room is carpeted.  The closet was originally a do-it-yourself job and a major eyesore.  It appeared a former owner had simply constructed a box of plywood, cut a hole in the bedroom wall and installed the box, covering the exterior with siding and installing a shelf and hanging bar inside.  There was no insulation, no interior sheetrock and the size of the closet box and the room opening was not anything near a standard size. There were no closet doors.  I had no idea how make this closet look better, accommodate a decent-looking door, and insulate what was essentially a big source of heat loss for the room.  Jerry solved the problem and he and his assistant set to work.  First they stripped out the old shelf and bar and lifted the carpet.  They insulated the walls with foam sheet insulation, covered the walls with sheetrock, taped and mudded them and essentially made the "box" look finished, new and clean.  Not only did this look good but there was an immediate improvement in the temperature of the room.  It was much warmer!  Then they proceeded to build a shallow frame around the closet opening that would accommodate a double set of standard folding doors.  This frame extended to the ceiling and created a two foot wide enclosed area at one end of the closet which nicely accomodated some shelves. This frame was faced with additional sheetrock and when completed looked like a narrow bump out in the wall.  The frame and wall were then painted to match the rest of the room, a closet shelving and rod system was installed inside the closet and the carpeting relaid to extend inside.  The finished project looks fantastic and vastly improved the appearance of the bedroom! Most of the work was done by Chris, Jerry's assistant, but Jerry kept track of what was going on and popped in often to see how things were progressing and make sure what I wanted was being done.  Both were very professional. They showed up on time, worked efficiently, did a great job and cleaned up after themselves,  All debris was removed.  After they finished there was almost nothing left for me to do except for a quick vacuuming of the room and even that was not absolutely necessary!
