Recent Review: He first came and gave me an estimate on replacing a broken back door and was right on time for the appointment. He looked the areas over I needed repaired and gave me an estimate. He told me he could get the door and screen for me or that I could get them. I told him I'd rather get them so he told me exactly what the best type to get would be and all the details. He also gave me his installation price which I felt was very fair. I went on my search for the door but had to call George several times for advice on the doors I was looking at. He was always very polite and helpful. I finally found the door and ordered it and set up the installation time and date with George to install. Again he was right on time and brought someone to help him. They worked all day removing my old door, putting in the new door and the new storm door. Everything turned out beautiful. He was always polite and very easy to talk to and would answer any questions I had. He cleaned up beautifully and the door and storm door are perfect which is amazing since this is an older home. I will for sure use him again...he's a real professional.

Recent Review: They actually arrived a few minutes early!  And, after discussing the projects and the order in which I wanted them done, they went to work.  Because my front door is a somewhat unusual size, the person who had installed the original door did a creative and problematic installation with the latch unit in the wrong place.  Tony removed the entire frame area and did an excellent job of installing the door and reframing so that the door opens and closes perfectly  and easily!  He took the same approach with my closet - "it must be done properly."  I have a lot of clothes and needed the closet to be mostly double-hung, with about 20 inches at one end for hanging robes, etc..  Because I did not tell him in advance about the double hanging, Tony had to send his son to the HD to get lumber on which the rods and hangers would be (securely) installed.    He even put a vertical board at the end of the partial rod - for practical and aesthetic reasons.   And, he made the distance between the rods and shelves just perfect, so I can get as many clothes and shoes in the closet as possible.  His son did an equally excellent job of replacing the lights and of fixing the leaning umbrellas.  One of the lights had to be moved slightly to the right because the new light's base would not fit the former opening.  Tony is a perfectionist and finds creative and practical solutions to problems.  And, his son is learning to imitate his father's quality of work.  They were both very personable and accommodating, and actually ate their lunch while working.   I do not think you could find better craftsmen.  Tony will be returning soon to do the rest of the things on my very long list.   You should also know that Tony communicated with me via email about the projects so that he would bring the appropriated tools.

Recent Review: Mark picked up the storm door at Lowe's for me -- I had ordered it 3 weeks prior. and had it held for him to pick up the morning of my appointment  However, upon beginning to install the door, he said it was missing parts, the side frame piece wasn't the correct size, etc.  I chose to not have him try and install the door but to return it.  Mark generously offered to take it back to Lowe's for me, and there was no additional charge for this.  He also waited with the manager at the store while they called me regarding some confusion on which account was to be debited, etc.  He called me and wanted to make sure that I knew what was going on at that end.  I feel he went above and beyond what would be expected!! He went through the other installs at my home systematically and without any issues. Mark is extremely personable, but he is also very professional and puts your job as his top priority.  He wasted no time going through my list.   I am THRILLED to know that if I need anything else done in the future I now have a qualified, thorough, honest and trustworthy person to handle the work.  I would recommend him highly to anyone for any type of home repair or construction.

Recent Review: My experience with Good Fellas and Danny was amazing.  The first time I met Danny, I walked him around my house for an hour, unloading 10 years worth of ideas.  He listened and talked with me about options as we went.  When I finished describing my vision, he sat at my kitchen table and wrote down from memory everything I had said, room by room.  This is one of the reasons why I love working with Danny...he remembers all the little details.  Every small custom request that I had from a pot filler on my stove to non-VOC paint, he remembered and delivered. The permitting with our project was complicated because of the existing illegal addition.  We were able to get permits from the city passed within 2 1/2 weeks for everything because of Danny and his engineer sitting for hours in the city permitting office.  They just stayed there and kept resubmitting revised requests every time the city asked for a change, or another report, or another calculation.  I have since learned that it normally takes about 8 weeks to get this kind of permit finished with the city.  I wlll also note, with regards to the city, our inspector really liked Danny and his team.  After the first week on the job, the city inspector started planning out his next two weeks of inspections with them because he saw how fast they were working and he commented that he didn't want to slow them down.  We passed every inspection without a note.  At the end of the project, the inspector walked the house with me alone and told me how much he liked working with my contractor because they did EVERYTHING to code.  We never waited even a day or two on inspections, because the inspector liked them.  I just haven't heard stories like that from any of my friends who remodel.  I have also had friends who are also contractors walk through the house and comment on how well it was done. Danny writes very detailed contracts.  I have probably 30 pages of contracts from Danny.  And I have learned that he delivers what he puts in the contract.  Every contract we have with them has been completed ON TIME and ON  BUDGET.  He has never asked me for more $ for something in the contract.  The only time we negotiated budget changes were when we changed the scope of the project.  That is only fair.  I observed more than once in the course of the work where something was costing Danny and Good Fellas more than they anticipated (like the removal of the foundation under the illegal addition, which ended up being two foundations, one poured on top of another).  In those cases, Danny absorbed the cost and did not ask for any extra reimbursement.  We also had an old pool shed out back that the inspector found and demanded that we demolish and remove.  Danny offered to do that free of charge.  Danny is an incredible project manager and the Good Fellas crew that we had worked hard.  They were fast.  And they did everything on schedule.  If Danny told me that I had to have all the lighting chosen and at the house by Monday to be installed, it had to be there by Monday.  The electriction was their on Monday...not Tuesday, or Wednesday or Thursday or next week.  If the appliances needed to be available by a certain date, he wasn't kidding.  I had to work h****** my end with the design choices (tile, paint, doors, kitchen, etc.) so that I could keep them supplied with the materials.  Danny handled getting all the materials to the site, but I had to have everything chosen and ordered on his schedule, because he was NEVER late.  The only delay in our project was because of a special order tile that I chose that didn't come in on time.  We did not have down time on our job.  The workers were there every day.  I grew to really enjoy Danny and the crew.  I had a 2 year old and the time and a puppy.  We were living in an RV and I visited the job site daily.  I often had to bring my toddler and sometimes the puppy with with me.  I can't remember how many times that Danny or one of the guys carried my puppy around while I carried the toddler and we walked from room to room discussing the decisions of the day.  I also noticed early on that whenever I arrived with my little girl, the guys would immediately go unplug all their power tools.  No one asked them to.  They were just that safety conscious around her.  One of the guys even chased that puppy down the street and brought him back.  They really started to feel like a family to me during the construction process. As with any construction process of this magnitude, we came across our issues from time to time.  After we had completed our kitchen design and the cabinets were already being made, I went to pick out a new sink.  I found a sink that I loved, but it was a 3 basin instead of two and was 8 inches wider than the design.  This of course would affect the cabinetry for that entire wall.  The sink needed to be centered under the window so all of the cabinets to the right would have to be adjusted.  I texted Danny and told him about the sink (from the store).  He immediately texted me back and told me to stay there, he would check into it.  Within 10 minutes he had worked with the cabinet makers to make the changes and he told me to go ahead and buy the sink.  This story basically describes my experience with Danny.  If I had an issue (even if I was just not happy with how something was coming out during the construction), I would text him, we would talk on the phone for a few minutes.  He would call the foreman (who was usually standing right next to me), and he would make the change or adjustment.  I didn't have ANY issue that I was frustrated with that he did not address.  He was constantly asking, "Are you happy?"  We have now been living in this remodeled house for almost 4 years, and everything is still working!  I still love my kitchen, the floors look great, the paint looks great, and everything works.  They built me a quality, custom house, and it was worth every penny.  People walk in my front door and almost always instantly say, "I love your house."  We don't live in a mansion.  It's a 3 bed, 2 bath house.  But everything inside is quality and it looks amazing.  I couldn't be happier with the finished process, and I enjoyed working with Good Fellas construction along the way.  They finished on time and on budget, and we still keep in touch because they are friends to me now.  What more could you ask for in a contractor. I hope this is helpful.  :)

BMr. Handyman of Glendale, Burbank & La Canada
I was not thrilled with him. He did what was asked of him, but he left some things undone. He put the door in and put a doggie door in the door. He framed the door, but he did not replace the trim and he did a bad job on the stucco outside. The door wasn't great. I think he was a little expensive. He bought the door and we paid him for that plus labor. I wouldn't call him again.

BLOWE'S HOME IMPROVEMENT CENTER
Generally, we were pleased with Lowe's courtesy and follow up. However, we felt that they failed to "go the extra mile" to help us with a small detail needed. The installer they sent, a young man named Everett Ellis from SouthWest Screens and Windows in Winnetka, CA, was first rate.

It went great.. Was on time..worked non stop and got the complete job done. It was a challenge as he had to remove the old frame also, but he was pleasant the whole time and did an excellent job. My family and friends love the job he did and would for sure use him again. The door and storm door work great..and we love them both. Thanks George!!

He installed a screen door and storm door, which he did a good job on. He installed a rolling shade blind but he hung it over the window instead of inside the frame. He damaged the ceiling when installing a fan and did not come close to finishing all of the jobs I requested. It's been two weeks and he is still blowing me off. I want him to fix the ceiling and ceiling fan.
