The final product is gorgeous. Nick has a great eye and is not only very artistic and sensitive to period details, but also an outstanding craftsman and just a stellar person. He also brought in a painter and a decorator who were excellent as well. I highly recommend Nick.

First of all Butch was very understanding of the difficulty we had living in a home that was gutted by a fire. Fortunately we had our Master Bedroom and bath and kitchen. We lived in the house while he worked. He took the time to explain what he was doing. He answered questions at the drop of the hat. As my wife says, "Butch was the conductor of an entire orchestra," as he coordinated the subs and trade work here. Butch had a challenge to separate the kitchen from the open beamed ceiling and he pulled that off and kept the mess out of the kitchen. At the end of every work day he cleaned up so there was nothing to trip over. Butch?s work ethic is as good as anything I?ve seen. There was a corner piece on a moulding near the ceiling, he was up and down the ladder constantly sanding and checking the fit until it was perfect. My wife says, ?Butch is basically a perfectionist."

AWAREHOUSE DIRECT INTERIOR
This is a recommendation for Lou Versman and Wholesale Direct Interiors, based upon our extremely high satisfaction with the installation by Lou’s team of 5 installers. Lou allocated 2 teams of 2, plus one additional man, in order to be able to install on both levels simultaneously and complete the installation in less time. Lou was extremely helpful in providing samples of flooring to us and ordering and delivering a box of dark oak, which we originally thought we would want, but which turned out to be too dark. The $124 cost of the box was a great investment- we love the Santos mahogany and are glad that we tried out 20 square feet of oak before deciding. Lou picked up and delivered samples from his showroom and 2 or 3 of his suppliers at least 5 times- and put no pressure on us to purchase the material through him. We ultimately purchased the material from Simple Floors because theirs was the only Santos Mahogany (out of probably 25 samples we saw) with the deep reddish tone we wanted. We visited a home in San Ramon where the homeowner had installed the material- so knew what it looked like when installed. We loved it, and the wood we received was exactly what we hoped for in color. The job involved demolishing and removing roughly 600 sq. ft. of limestone and marble tile, as well as removal of approx 1500 sq ft. of carpet, installation of hardwood upstairs and down, and removal and replacement of all baseboards (more than 500 feet) with higher 5 ¼” baseboards which Lou’s team installed after they painted them (2 coats as requested. We learned in the past that you should ALWAYS insist on 2 coats over the primer coat so your baseboards will look new longer!). We also had them replace approx 66 linear feet of kick panels under our kitchen counters and bar area with ¼” maple material, which they stained, finished, cut and installed. The total time for the entire job was 7 working days plus ½ day for fine-tuning and touch up. Lou’s team was fantastic: hard working, on time, easy to work with, and easy to communicate with. Lou volunteered to have his men pick up the 102 boxes of hardwood from the supplier’s factory, which turned out to be in Oakland- a long drive from their home base in Santa Cruz, from which the team commuted to our Sunnyvale home each day. This saved us a $125 delivery charge. Lou’s team did a terrific job of protecting our furniture and walls with sheeting, moving and covering furniture and walls as necessary as they removed and replaced flooring. Leveling our subfloors meant grinding the concrete pad downstairs, and sanding plywood upstairs where the edges were not level- so we got our share of unavoidable concrete dust and sawdust. Lou also brought us samples of baseboard material to choose from, saving us a trip to the baseboard supplier. His is a full-service company- we purchased rug underpad from Lou, which was cut to fit, and his team delivered the underpad, moved 2 sofas and installed the under

Very well. Inspection turned up a number of areas where carpentry repair was needed before painting. These repairs were done in excellent fashion.

ALangley's Construction/Handyman Service
We are a non-profit organization called the Monterey Hostel.  We provide alternative lodging for travelers from all over the world.  We work with a limited budget as we try to keep our costs down.  I have been looking for a quality handyman for 2 years now.  Well, my search has ended.  Dan Langley is a star as far as I'm concerned.  He is experienced, does quality work, and a great person.  I asked Dan to assess my window trim and help me prepare them before we paint the house.  I had moss growing out of the wood in one area and another area was badly rotted away.  The window trim was an old block style that is stuccoed in.  A lot of concern was on my mind about how I would fix this.  I took my time and asked around for advice about this job from contractors to handymen.  It seemed to be a troublesome task that would turn out to be costly.  I come across Dan Langley who has great reviews here on Angie's and asked him to come out.  He explained how he would do the work and gave me a great quote.  He was here on Saturday at 9am just as we agreed.  The window trim was carefully cut out, replaced, and sealed.  The work station was contained to one area.  There was no trace of sawdust or construction debris after he left.  I was completely satisfied with the work quality.  One more thing to add.  Langley cares about his community and looks for places to give back.  He supports our mission: "to help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and it's people through hostelling" by surprising us with his work in-kind.  That's right, for free, he has seen us here for years providing a nice clean lodging for young travelers and he did the work to support our cause.  We are non-profit as mentioned above and this place was built by contributions from volunteers all over our community.  To have Dan offer his support is very warming and I would like to recognize his community involvement.  Thanks for your work Dan.

ABrian Stock Painting
He arrived early and got the work done in two and a half days. Painting and caulking was nicely done, with attention to detail. He noticed flaws in the exterior I hadn't seen, sunk protruding nails, smoothed cracks, etc.  Only drawback was a little poor communication at the beginning. Very friendly thereafter. His painting assistant, Luca, is also a carpenter and repaired a fascia segment with dry rot, and made several repairs to the front fence, for an additional $30/hr. He later came back to clean and paint the fence. Happy with the service and the house looks great.

AMartin Dehmler Fine Cabinetmaking
Martin was prompt and always available. He had great references and photos of previous projects. He actually helped me design the unit which made it come out better than what I had envisioned it to look like. The trim, fit, and finish really gave the project a true "built in" look. He went to great effort to match the existing crown molding to a tee. The room went from a ho hum area with an eyesore fireplace, to having a real wow factor. Not only is the room now used more, but in the event of selling the house someday, the work done will pay for itself many times over. I wish I had more spaces requiring selves and cabinets, because I WOULD USE mARTIN AGAIN.

BOTTOM LINE............DAN LANGLEY could do anything I could come up with....always with a refreshing attitude.  He showed up on time, prepared with the right tools, neat, cheerful and willing to tackle any task, always leaving the area clean.....always a reasonable price. Recently placed our units with property management and gave them his card & said they can call him 24/7 and that he can handle anything needed.  I trust him to enter any of my units and have left him numerous times to go off to work knowing that he is trustworthy and reliable. THIS IS A GODSEND TO A LANDLORD AND A PROPERTY OWNER.........A++ TO DAN LANGLEY!!!!!!!!!

Recent Review: From the promptness of the estimate through completion of the job, this was the best experience I have had with a painting contractor. Peter is a true professional and his crew is excellent. I used to paint houses myself. That makes me especially critical, but there is nothing I would have changed in the way they did the job. Highly recommended.
