Milan Construction Inc
Recent Review: This is our third major project with Milan Construction and the second soundproof music studio that he built for us.  We presented Milan with the plans and he made several suggestions that both reduced the cost and improved the level of sound isolation.  Milan started right away and built us some new storage (his idea) in a crawlspace while doing the framing work.  He did all of the framing himself and brought in a crew to do some of the drywall work.  Milan was attentive to detail and willing to take additional steps to make sure that the room was soundproof.  Sound proofing was achieved by two layers each for the interior and exterior walls of 5/8 drywall with greenglue in between.  Internal walls used hat channel mounted on sound isolating clips.  He also build two soundproof soffits for ventilation and installed sound proof doors.  The finish is beautiful and the room is very well integrated into our house. The execution on the soundproofing was excellent and I'm able to play the drums very loudly while the rest of my family is asleep. Milan  and his crew were very respectful of my home and completed the project ahead of schedule.  Very highly recommended!

Recent Review: Promptly came out to inspect the premise, and provided an estimate.  We easily negotiated a final scope of work, and work began on time.  There was about a one-week delay waiting for inspections, but otherwise the project finished on time and on budget.  The contractor showed excellent flexibility as the requirements evolved, and really tried to meet my needs.

ROBERT LA SPINA
Recent Review: We learned about this business through Angies List. Robert offered helpful advice on how best to proceed. We also had a problem with a noisy neighbor and he suggested a solution that eliminated that problem and was an affordable soundproofing technique. We had only a few days to complete the drywall in time for the hardwood floor people to begin work and Robert  found a way to finish fairly extensive work in a short period of time.He came early each day and stayed late each night until the job was done.

Recent Review: From calling him to arrange a time for an estimate to his delivery of the estimate, Randy was the consummate professional. If we had done the work with him I would have 100% confidence that it would have been performed on time and at the estimated cost.

Kozubek Construction
Recent Review: I needed to have a set of attic stairs installed in my hallway so that I could install a furnace in the attic and use it for storage. The previous owners had installed a false ceiling in that part of the hallway. Lech need to cut two openings and framed them both. The complicated part of the job was the difference in the two ceiling heights was 18". Lech created a step at the top of the opening and a platform to the side so that I could easily step into the attic. During the whole job I was impressed with how clean he kept the area he was working in. Not quoted as part of the job, Lech found some nice trim for the opening that was small enough for the hallway and yet thick enough to cover the imperfections in the ceiling. He even shaved part of the trim in a area were the sheetrock was not level. He also installed some nice rounded trim on the inside of ladder opening. In the end Lech did a great job at the exact price and in the exact time he quoted. I was very impressed with his quality of work and attention to detail. I would definitely use him again.

Shaun is a rare find. He's a great general contractor and keeps everything going smoothly and on-time. And as an added bonus, he has a great eye for design and colors. He helped me pick out the tile, backsplash, granite countertops and paint colors. He's professional and does as he says. He bent over backwards to help us meet an aggressive finish date. I'm very happy with the way the remodel turned out. Although he's not the cheapest guy out there, he's worth the money.

BJim Brouse Home Improvement
When we bought the house, there was a drop ceiling in the laundry room, which had originally been a porch that had been enclosed. The drop ceiling was hiding water damage to the original ceiling, though it looked like the leak wasn't ongoing. Well, after a tremendous rainstorm, enough water got in that we needed to fix it, ASAP. My dad and I started demo on the drop ceiling and roof, but when we got inside, it looked like it was going to be a much larger project than we had anticipated, basically a full roof replacement, and possibly the exterior wall of the house as well. So, we called in a pro. Jim came out the next day, gave me an estimate (which was $2500, I think), and his guy (whose name I have forgotten) came out the next day to start the work. And the confusion began. Basically, it didn't sound like Jim and the guy who actually did the work talked much. The work got done, and well, which I want to emphasize. However, the time that the guy was supposed to start would come and go, no guy, no phone calls, Jim didn't know where he was, couldn't get a hold of him, and would tell me "I don't know what to tell you." Guy shows up, I mention it, he's been picking up materials elsewhere, or something like that, which is fine, but again, no communication. Same level of confusion with what *day* he'd be coming. In a nutshell, don't plan your life around the work being done. All in all, it took about 1.5 times as long as estimated, at about 1.5 times the price estimated. Jim's a nice guy, and his guys do good work, but it's bit disorganized, so be prepared for that.

Bruce is an absolute master at his craft. I had a project where I needed a door to be as solid and soundproof as possible for a recording studio which requires a lot of special skills and attention to detail to pull off. Bruce basically created me an entirely new custom door from scratch that exceeds the quality of anything I could have imagined or bought elsewhere. He also had to go in and fix a lot of the bad work from my previous contractors which was not an easy task. I am extremely happy I found someone of his caliber because a lot of the handymen in the area are unprofessional and sloppy with their work so if you have a special project that needs to get done right, just stop looking and get Bruce to come do it. He's not cheap but I'd rather have things done right and pay a little more than have them done badly for less money. I will definitely be contacting him again for more jobs in the future because I know I can trust him to get it done.
