Water Quality Plumbing
Award 2018Super Service Award
Recent Review: I had a small leak in a solder joint where the water softener connected to the water feed line.  The leak was very tiny.  The leak was so tiny that it produced only a very fine mist of spray that, over the course of a week, wetted a small patch of wall in the garage with a little bit of standing water around the softener.  Jerry from Water Quality came out.  The leak was so small and the misting spray so fine that it was difficult to locate the source of the leak.  After about 10 mins of searching, together we identified the source of the leak.  Once the source was identified, Jerry repaired the leak within about an hour.  He was quick, courteous, and very professional.  I will definitely use Water Quality in the future, and will recommend them to others.

Solid Rock Inc
Recent Review: - I had originally planned to have work done in Fall of 2009 but was laid off just after receiving estimates. I rescheduled the work in June 2010. - The estimate was very detailed so all costs were clear, and work was invoiced as it was completed. Dale was careful to explain everything and answer (my many) questions both before and during the work to make sure the end result was what I had in mind. He was super clear in describing the progress and timing. Dale was very patient as I made decisions on pavers and lights: he made recommendations for cost-effective choices, dropped off samples, and talked through options for patterns and configuration. - I really appreciated Dale?s suggestions for reducing costs without compromising the results ? for example, I went with mulch instead of pebble ground cover and decided not to add pavers to part of the yard as originally planned. When a few items came up that were not in the original estimate then he made sure I understood what was involved ? for example, when the driveway was removed we discovered that the main water line was corroded, and on my approval Dale arranged to have a plumber replace the line at low cost and in a timely manner so it wouldn?t delay other work. - The workers arrived on time and acted professionally. The on-site supervisor was very helpful and responsive. Dale came by often to check on progress and make adjustments if needed, and gave me a heads-up on when work would occur. The crew was respectful regarding noise and parking vehicles in the neighborhood. - Dale is very knowledgeable, professional, good-humored and all-around great to work with. He made lots of great suggestions and went out of his way to make sure I was pleased with the results and informed along the way. The quality of work and overall appearance is great ? I love my new driveway and yard!

SWENSON'S LANDSCAPING
Recent Review: We have been having problems with our sprinkler heads and our drip system for years.  i'd do the repairs the best I could, but it got to the point were we had to turn off a valve, a variety of the drips weren't working, the water was spraying on the driveways and there were spots on the lawn that didn't get watered. I looked around for someone specializing in sprinklers. They are hard to find.  I needed someone who could diagnose the issue, assess what was really happening under the ground and around the plants, then fix it so that it would work for years. Shane and his assistant did great. During the estimate, they walked me thru what they were going to do.   I asked a bunch of questions as always. I wanted things fixed right the first time.   I wanted a good quality and competent work for the price.   I wanted it to work when done. I got all that and more. In fact, there was an odd pipe in the backyard.  I showed it to Shane.  We didn't know where it went. When Shane was testing his installation, there continued to be an issue with the pressure.  Thank gosh for his curiosity and wanting to fix things right.   He kept walking the yard (its a small one) and kept hearing the subtle sound of water.  After going around, following the pipes, the sprinklers etc and still not finding the problem on our lot, he went next door to the house behind us.  Low and behold, he found out the house behind (which used to be owned and was built by the same people we bought our house from) had a pipe going from our yard into theirs and were were watering one of their flower beds.  Fortunately the pipe was broken because the water could be heard.  Shane found the problem, capped off the pipe in the neighbor's yard and fixed the problem.  It took a couple of extra hours - but it's fixed.  He was persistent.  And all of the work, the flower beds, the planter boxes and the yard - the work looks really good.  I moved away the ground cover, looked at how he anchored down the tubing and he did really good work.  The dry spots are gone.  We had him move some of the sprinkler heads. He did so in a way that when the palm dies, which they do every 7 -10 years, we can dig up the spot where the former sprinker head spot was and reactivate it and turn off the existing head.  I hadn't planned to spend as much as I did on the sprinklers.  My fantasy was that I'd spend half, but my fantasy was not based on any reality.  I did get other estimates, and they were in the backpack - within about 20%.  Again, I wanted the quality, I wanted to know it was fixed and fixed right and because this is a rental, I didn't want to come back and make new repairs.    Shane did great. We plan to use them again for some well work and irrigation at another house.

ASimply Sprinklers
The sprinklers in my front yard would not turn off. This was on a Saturday, and I imagined having the water running for days before I found someone to fix whatever had gone wrong. In a rather desperate state, I called Angie's List and got a referral; I called that number and left a message. Randy Ruiz called me back within an hour and explained how to turn off the main sprinkler valve and said he would stop the following week and sort things out, which he did. I found him a bit expensive (although I didn't get any comparison bids, so I don't know this for sure), but he is very competent and dependable. And a big plus point is that he does the work himself. After years of searching for a good sprinkler guy and paying for a lot of substandard work, I think the guy has done a good job and is worth his fee. I will have him return to replace all the old fragile drip system with a stronger spray system.

CThe Lunt Marymor Company
My 1945 toilet was "running";  when I opened the tank, I discovered that the water valve was continuously spraying a small mist. I know homeowners can repair this relatively minor problem, but I am elderly and my husband had been working a 9 day shift.  I decided to call a plumber to save him the time and hassle.  I read Angies reviews and was delighted with what I read.  Unfortunately, my experience wasn't the same.  As instructed, I left a repair request on Lunt Marymor's website on Monday nite.  By 9:15 Tuesday, I still hadn't heard back so left a telephone message.  It was after 11:00 when I finally reached the office staff to make an appointment for the next morning.  Not bad, but not great responsiveness just to make an appointment.  The plumber arrived promptly and got to work immediately.  He replaced the valve and the flapper in under 30 minutes.  He also said he loosened the handle that controls the flapper ball.  He offered to replace the washers in my bath faucets to make up the hourly minimum. He did and they worked well.   He tested the toilet and left.  Three hours later the problems began. Since then when we flush the toilet, the flapper ball does not seat properly; in fact, it catches on the rim of the hole allowing all water entering the tank to drain into the bowl and down the drain.  This problem continued the next day so I left another e-mail message.  The staff called promptly  Friday morning. That Friday, neither of us would be home to wait for a second visit by the same plumber. By then, my husband was also extremely upset that such a simple replacement had not been done correctly the first time; he had no confidence in the plumber's abilities and feared endless visits and additional costs. Saturday morning, my husband removed the tank top and discovered that the plumber had failed to tread the rod attaching the flapper ball to the chain mechanism attached to the handle  through the hole in the plastic guide. That guide is designed to keep the flapper ball in line with the hole.  The plumber also failed to readjust the angle and the height of the plastic guide.  He could tell that the guide had been moved because of scratches on that pipe.  Because the flapper ball was not properly threaded thru the guide, it floated freely around the tank as it filled and eventually caught on the hole's rim.  This lack of attention to detail caused us to waste a great deal of water, a fact that will be reflected on our EBMUD bill!
