Recent Review: Start to finish 15 min. including reading instructions. Tip: when draining tank, take lower nut off then place bowl under bottom of tank. then raise old guts (fill), let tank water empty. Quicker than sponge - a lot less messy.

Recent Review: Two technicians showed up and drained the water tank and flushed the system.  They were courteous and professional, performing the plumbing inspection and made recommendations for replacements including the hot water tank which showed signs of rust and small leaks.  The tank was 25 years old and I expected them to recommend a new one.  The estimate I received, however, was too high, so I hired another plumbing outfit to replace the water heater with the same brand as Duke recommended, for several hundred dollars less. .

Recent Review: Job took a day and a half.  Had to come back 2 days later for dryer vent.  Glitches were found and corrected promptly.  Heat pump in Reno area is a fairly new idea, at 35 degrees heating from heat pump will automatically switch to oil and above 35 deg will switch back to heat pump.  So far all is well.  The Sierra HVAC team were all courteous, professional, and took time to explain all details of installation.

Recent Review: We wanted to convert from oil heat to gas and install a new air conditioner. I have used Reno Heating and Air to service my heater for a few years and they have always done right by me. I did get two other estimates for the job, and although Reno Heating and Air was not the least expensive, coming in at the middle, John was great at explaining all of my options to me and taking the time to answer all of my questions. I felt like he was very honest instead of trying to sell me more heater than I needed for my small house. Also, they provided a decommissioning of the oil tank as part of their service and I felt like their estimate was the most comprehensive. Chris in the office is very professional and a pleasure to work with. This person coordinated the work with NV Energy on the gas lines and meters. Although this job was interrupted by the Thanksgiving holiday and a storm that produced flooding around the valley, Reno Heating and Air was very professional and worked hard to ensure that heat was restored quickly. Their techs were very competent and a pleasure to work with. Overall, I am extremely happy with my new heater. It works exactly as it is supposed to. They took the time to explain how the new thermostat works and ensure that I knew how to use it. No more being blasted by too much heat and frozen by too little. Best of all, no more huge monthly oil bills. I would definitely recommend Reno Heating to anyone looking to install a new heater or service an existing one.

We had them come out to locate the septic tank. They were not able to find the septic tank; I had to find somebody else.

The heater was refurbished by another company last summer (2014) for $1400.  In early November, the heater started cutting out.  I had a second company out to tune the heater.  All was well until late December when the heater started cutting out again.  The second company was called again to work magic, but they only tuned it and not very well.  By early last week, the heater died - no fire, no heat, no hot water.  I called Desert Air and they sent out Tim, who was there most of Thursday.  He really did refurbish the unit, including replacing the valve that wouldn't open entirely along with the other plumbing around the unit, adding a Tiger Loop to replace the return line to the tank, replacing the ignition system and blowing out the line to the tank with nitrogen. Then he showed me where the concrete pad under the tank was failing and causing the tank to lower by 9-12".  He told me to keep the tank fuller than I had and to consider replacing the pad with a frame to raise the tank 4' above the ground (improve flow from the tank to the heater).  He could not finish the work until the tank was fuller to improve the flow (I only had the tank 20% full).  On Friday, I filled the tank and on Saturday (the weather was warm), Tim returned to fill the line (with suction) and check the entire system as it worked. And work it does.  Hot shower and a warm house.  I can see the work that was done and the engineer part of me sees the logic of all that was accomplished.  Would that the first or second company had done that job the Desert Air did.  Thanks to Tim and all of Desert Air.

AVan Allen Plumbing
I called Van Allen Plumbing, because I had noticed rust and white material around screws in my toilet tank.  Mr. Van Allen checked my tank and told me that the rust around the screws was normal, and the white material around the screws was only a seal.  He told me that he would not feel right charging me for this service call because nothing needed to be fixed. Mr. Van Allen is a very honest man, who could of replaced whatever in my tank, and charged me for unnecessary work.  I will definitely call him in the future for any plumbing issues that I might have.

It went great! They were efficient and capable. It is hard to find great people to work on older buildings, but these guys can. They also came late friday without any hassles, and was able to replace the pump quickly. They were also one of the cheaper quotes that I had gotten for this type of repair. I cannot express how impress with them I am, after seeing a quite a few incompetent plumbers.
