Recent Review: We had a serious leak in our 2nd story tub, creating a swell in our ceiling on the 1st floor. Two different plumbers and another handyman told us the only solution was to remove the tub completely, costing several thousand dollars. Only Pier was willing to even entertain the possibility of finding a more creative solution. Pier came up with a great solution involving a high-tech construction foam to shore up the tub from underneath. It absolutely did the trick, at a fraction of what we would have paid otherwise. He's a really nice guy and extremely professional. Pier got all the work done within a few hours and left the place spotless and patched up to the point where you'd never have known he had been there. Pier is the only contractor I remember working with who was thoroughly positive in his approach-- instead of telling us what can't be done, he was all about thinking outside the box and was very honest and open about things throughout the process. We were 100% satisfied with the work and would absolutely call Pier again if we needed some work done.

Bill Syms Bath Maintenance
Recent Review: We weren't moved into our new house yet, so Bill had time to reglaze our tub and showers and install new fixtures for us. we couldn't afford a full bathroom remodel, but thanks to Bill we got new looking showers and tub and new fixtures in two bathrooms for less than $2500. I particularly appreciated that he let us save money by selecting and purchasing our own fixtures.

HE RESPONDED TO MY MOTHER-IN-LAW'S HOME AT OUR REQUEST TO INSTALL A HAND-HELD SHOWER FOR MY FATHER-IN-LAW, WHO WAS AN INVALID, IMMEDIATELY. WE HAVE HAD JEFF DO OUR PLUMBING WORK FOR 10 YEARS AND ROUTINELY GIVE HIM A KEY TO THE HOUSE, TRUSTING HIM TO WORK WITHOUT ANYONE THERE.

Recent Review: I contracted Sam after he completed the remodel of the 2nd Bathroom. We continued to work with him and his team as they understood our needs and wants for a new bathroom and since we worked with the entire team on the 2nd bathroom we knew we could trust them. We are very often away for work, this usually results in big problems with the contractor or workers doing things the incorrect way, not to mention the trust you need to have having people in your home when you are not there. Sam communicates well with you during the project and is on top of most items, his workers Noah and Moses are fantastic, these guys work very hard and understand how you want it done after telling them once. They clean up each day before going home and are respectful of your home. Henry the tile installer is also very good at what he does. The only worker in my opinion that needs supervision is his plumber Louis, he does perform well and is very good at installing and trouble shooting, however he is not good with the finishing. You will have to be present or have someone supervise him when he is finishing the bathroom faucets, covers or any other decorative plates you want to install, as he doesn't have an idea for detail. "examples are finishing plates not straight, knobs not perfectly vertical or horizontal" We are extremely detailed and I even Told sam before he started that I am not easy to work with. When we were close to being done with the construction is where it became a little frustrating, as we needed to the inspections done with the city. I know its out of our control sometimes to have everything go smoothly, but Sam could have been a little bit better on this part. The most important thing is that Sam is an honest contractor and will make it right in the end, he won't be happy until you are perfectly happy. I highly recommend him for any job you may have We are very pleased with the end result!

FCarlos Herrera Plumbing
Based on so many positive reports on Angie's List, I emailed Carlos on a Monday for an estimate on installing a water softener system and also wanted a plumber who would replace faucets & all toilets (3) throughout our house. I had planned on hiring the plumber to also do the bathtub (if I liked him/her) during our bathroom remodel. In other words, not a small job. After 5 days of not getting a response to my email, I called Carlos on the phone on Friday 5/27. He picked up and said that he didn't get my emails because he hadn't been checking email because he's in the midst of changing email carriers. That didn't make sense to me. If you're running a biz, and you're changing email carriers, shouldn't you still be checking for messages? He didn't apologize. Strike 1. I overlooked that and made an appointment with him for an estimate on a water softener installation. He wanted to come by at 6 pm right on that day (Friday). I agreed to the appointment, even though it meant shuffling my schedule around at the last minute. I left work early and picked up both my kids from different schools in opposite directions to make the appointment on time at 6. I canceled my children's after-school activities to be there. The time came and went. I waited til 6:15. Then 6:30. At 6:45, I called him and he picked up the phone. He said he was at a customer's and "would call you as soon as I'm done here." He didn't apologize ONCE. (Strike 2). I told him, the least you could have done was CALLED. I ALWAYS give people 15-20 minutes grace period given the Calif traffic. Sometimes, even 30 mins if they call. But my beef was that he didn't call AT ALL. I told him, 'Never mind, you don't need to call me after your appointment. You don't need to come by at all. I shuffled my schedule to accommodate a time that YOU picked out and you can't even call me. And this is the first impression. How could I ever hire you for any job, big or small, if you're not reliable enough to CALL?" He actually seemed/sounded shocked that I didn't want him to come by anymore! (Strike 3). And again, he didn't sound apologetic. He didn't apologize. He wasn't the slightest bit sorry. If I hadn't called, there is no telling just how long he would make me wait. I hate giving bad reviews because I always like to give the person the benefit of the doubt. But this man doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt. It doesn't matter if you're skilled at your craft. If your customer can't trust you, can't rely on you, then they are not going to pay you. No matter how good you are (or think you are).

I had Jim come and give me an estimate for installing a tub and tile around it as the last step in my bathroom remodel. He gave me a very fair price so I hired him. When and his crew arrived to start the job, Jim noticed a defect on the tile I had purchased which meant the job had to be put on hold until I could get new tile. Not to worry- Jim went to the tile broker and sorted things out for me! He spent his own time and went above and beyond what I had hired him to do. As soon as the new tile was delivered Jim and his guys went to work and did a great job. I would definitely recommend Jim to anyone. He is a true professional and does great work, even when he is losing money on a job because of factors outside his control. The bathroom looks great! Thanks Jim!
