Recent Review: On June 7, 2006, Daniel Datsko came to our home to give us a quote to to build new cabinetry for our kitchen, remove old cabinetry, and install the new cabinetry. His quote was for the sum of $9,500. He requested, and we provided, a good-faith deposit in the form of a check for 50% of the work ($4,750) which was cashed on June 8, 2006. Over the subsequent year, multiple attempts were made by my husband and I to get Mr. Datsko to start the job. On one Friday in September 2006, we were told by Mr. Datsko that the cabinets were built and ready to install and that he would do so on the following Tuesday. We worked all weekend packing up our kitchen and moving our things into storage. By chance, I happened to run into Mr. Datsko on the Monday outside of a drugstore and he confirmed that he would be at our home the next day to install the cabinets. On Tuesday he did not show up nor did he answer his phone or return any of our calls. In April 2007 we asked for our deposit to be returned and he asked if we would give him three weeks to build the cabinets and rectify the situation. We agreed to do so, but never heard back from Mr. Datsko. When we were finally able to reach him weeks later, he had excuses for why he didn't start on the job. We began attempting to collect our deposit again and on July 5, 2007 Mr. Datsko agreed to refund our deposit in two monthly installments of $2,375 each. The first installment, per his request, was due on Friday, July 13, 2007. The second and final installment was due on August 31, 2007. Through many phone calls and attempts, we have only been able to collect $500 (cash) which was paid to us on October 2, 2007. Since then, we have been unsuccessful in our attempts to collect the remaining balance of $4,250 and Mr. Datsko will not return our calls.
