Recent Review: I was very impressed with all of the work Jon did.  He came out on time and gave a bid that was very reasonable so I asked when he could start and he started the project the same week.  He fixed the doors, repaired the electrical and repaired and sealed the grout in both bathrooms. Because our home is older, the grout had to be custom matched and it looked beautiful when he was done.  We ordered custom shower doors which Jon installed along with all new shower fixtures.  He also repaired the dry rot on the siding of our house in two different locations.  He matched the siding and the paint so perfectly, we could not tell where the damage had been after he completed the job. Jon was always easy to reach and kept me informed through each stage of the repair process.   I really appreciated Jon's professionalism and attention to detail. I will definitely call him again when I need repairs around our home.

Recent Review: The project went very smoothly.  Vern was professional,  responsive, and offered good suggestions.  He was on top of things and was here often to check on the work.  The workers were proficient,  friendly,  and courteous.  They cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each work day,  and there was minimal disruption to our daily living.  The project finished close to the estimated date,  and we were very pleased with the quality of the work. We gave Chapman Construction a "B" for Price because theirs was not the lowest bid for the job;   we decided to go with them nonetheless because we felt they would be a better fit for us on this particular project.  That had turned out to be a good decision!

Recent Review: Tom and Sandra are a husband and wife team that handle contracting/remodel work and decorating. They worked w/me diligently to arrive at a budget I could live with while providing high quality materials/work. Their subcontracting teams were very professional and did exceptional work---and all were fantastic and fun to work with! Tom outlined everything, including the cost up front, and explained things as they went along whenever i had questions; if something was too costly for me, he would provide viable options or actually work w/his distributor or contact to lower the cost, project took about 2 months. Sandra worked w/me on coordinating colors/materials for flooring, paint, tile, and window treatments. Her suggestions for furniture and other decor was great, never felt pressured, but they did offer their services for purchasing items, which I did on some of the furniture. As described above it was an update/remodel of master bedroom and bath. Installed pocket door between bedroom/bath, replaced 2 windows (enlarged 1), installed new wood flooring, partially removed old "plant ledge", added closet organizers, painted bedroom/bath/closetrooms, added canned lighting in bedroom, bath, and closet, removed old shower and installed new tiled floor to ceiling shower w/new fixtures and shower doors, new tiled bathroom floor, custom vanity w/new sink and granite counter top and new front/doors for linen closet, and installed new doors in remodel area. New furniture, rug, and window treatments were at additional cost. I felt extremely comfortable w/both Tom and Sandra and would definitely recommend their business to others.

MAINTENANCE CONNECTION
Recent Review: Several months ago, I bought a property to rent out. Shortly after that, the hot water tank blew, taking half the carpet with it. So I decided to replace the carpets, the kitchen, both bathrooms, and of course the hot water tank. I also had the interior repainted. Although CPR Carpets, Mitchell Vick Construction, and Elegant Surfaces (all under contract from Home Depot) did an excellent job, my handyman failed to do his part. By 'failed', I mean he did not replace the door knobs, he did not finish repainting the interior, he did not change the locks, ... You get the idea. My prior workman failed to live up to his promise to renovate the apartment. It took him three months to fail to meet my expectations. So, finally, with a heavy heart, I fired him and called Maintenance Connection. I'm glad I did. I called George on Monday. He inspected the property on Tuesday. By Tuesday afternoon, the work had begun. By late Friday, almost everything was complete. It had taken George, Rudy, Ernest & co. of Maintenance Connection four days to do the work that my prior handyman had spent three months half-heartedly attempting. I told George, "Look around; this place is F'd up; I want you to un-F' it, please." So, they did. They began by making a list of all the defects in the property. They asked if I wanted to replace the missing mantel (yes, I did). They noticed the half-finished paint job in the bathrooms (ditto). They noticed that the walls had received only one coat of paint and that they needed at least two (ditto). And so on. They recommended a check of the wiring; they noticed the missing doorknobs; they were bemused by the trash on the patio, left by the prior workman; they caught everything. George gave me an estimate, and he stuck to it. Not only that, but he completed all the work by Friday evening. When I inspected the property after he had completed the work, I was amazed. The paintwork was perfect, the caulking in the bathroom had been redone (and it looked *so* good), the shower heads had been replaced (not my idea, but I am glad George did it, and I wish I had thought of it first), the shattered shower door had been replaced, and the doors were back on their hinges. There was no trash in the apartment. The splashes of paint, which my prior handyman had spilled on the *new* sink, were gone. In summary (and in only four days), George and his colleagues had cleaned the Augean Stables, for the price they had originally quoted. Oh, and they also checked the hot water heater, the air conditioning, and so on. If I hadn't been let down so egregiously by my prior handyman, I wouldn't have known how awesome Maintenance Connection is, so in a way, I'm glad he let me down. Still, I wish I had hired Maintenance Connection first. Not only did they fix everything I asked them to fix, they also fixed several things that I had *wanted* fixed but that I had forgotten to mention to them. I don't normally give such detailed, glowing reviews. I do feel strongly, however, that Maintenance Connection deserve recognition for their hard work. They make me *want* to hire them on general principle. They went above and beyond all my expectations.

We had a horrible experience with RFMC Inc., specifically the Bath Planet-Seamless Shower Division. I would not recommend this company because they misrepresented the product as being a seamless shower and then proceeded to build a shower with a crude and unworkable seam. It took this company 5 months to complete our new seamless shower due to poor design, execution, and customer service. The seamless shower and glass door both had to be redone multiple times because 1) The adhesive failed and the shower wall laminate didn’t stick, 2) The shower was built with a horizontal seam covered with a plastic gasket and the shower door frame wouldn’t fit over the seam, and 3) The glass shower door broke because of the bent frame. There were large gaps of time between each phase of the project waiting for more work to be done. Stay away and avoid the stress and wasted time that we spent trying to get this company to finish the job correctly.

Last Fall we began updating a few rooms in our 27 year old home. In the bedrooms, wallpaper was stripped, and walls were textured & painted. One powder bathroom was completely gutted. A second bathroom required a change in all things except cabinetry.  New flooring, lighting, sinks, toilets, faucets and hardware were installed. Extensive marble tile work was done around the tub/shower and on several countertops. Special beveled mirrors and a custom glass shower door were also installed. The end results were beautiful!      We were extremely satisfied with Chapman Construction! The owner, Vern Chapman, is a true professional. He is honest, very particular, and always aims to make the client pleased. He coordinates top-notch subs and is on the job to make sure all work is done perfectly. Every worker that came to the house was prompt, courteous, and left the site clean each day. Our entire project was completed very close to the estimated finish date. One unforeseen glitch and a couple changes made by us, broadened the scope of the job -which required a little extra time for completion.  Again, we enjoyed working with Chapman Construction. They will be the company we call when we need any other remodel work done! We were thrilled with the results and we would wholeheartedly recommend them to everyone!

This was the second project Chapman Construction did on our house. (The first was a bathroom remodel in 2015.) Vern Chapman is knowledgeable and professional. He was on site almost everyday to touch base and to do quality control. All the sub-contractors were proficient and courteous, and cleaned up after every work day. The Chapman team of Ryan and Johnny was particularly meticulous, thorough, and accommodating. It did take a while for Vern to prepare the proposal and estimate, but that was because they were busy, which in turn was a reflection of the fine quality of their work. (Personally, I would be wary of hiring a general contractor who has plentiful time on his hands!) And then once work commenced, there was someone working in our house every day, and things progressed quite swiftly. The project did take longer than planned, largely because of a couple of change orders that we had initiated. In all fairness, I should not give a grade on "Price" above, as we did not get a second bid and therefore do not have any other price to compare to. However, I had done research on my own ahead of time, and Vern's price for this project, albeit higher than the "ballpark price" in my mind, was not way out- of-line. Of the three basic elements of a house remodel - price, process, and end-product; the last is the one that is most important to us, ( as that is what we have to live with for years to come.) And in this case, the end-product is superb, and we are quite happy!
