Recent Review: This is the second time I've hired Brent Brandolino, Granite Bay House Doctor. So, already that says something positive. He came out to the house to give me an estimate on building a new section of front porch railing. We agreed on the scope of work and set up a date and time for the work to be completed. I had taken out a sidewalk and steps to the front porch that led to a very busy street that no one could use. There was already a second sidewalk and set of steps from the driveway to the same porch and front door. Brent arrived at the agreed upon time and day, took measurements, conferred with me about a couple of items and picked up the wood he needed to complete the project. He not only did a beautiful job, he'd determined that the rails on the existing 5 feet of railing were incrementally smaller distances apart and duplicated that effect on the section he built. That way, the eye wouldn't notice a difference in how it looked. I was impressed. Cleanup was well done. The railing looks great and is exactly what i wanted. I will definitely hire him again to do work at my house.

Recent Review: Dave called me back right away and provided a reasonable estimate for the work performed. After providing the estimate, he came back a few days later to do the work. He was very friendly and personable. He came at the time he said he would be here. The work took a little longer than he expected. The railing and the gate look wonderful! He and his brother did an excellent job. They cleaned up everything after they were done and hauled away old materials. They were very professional.

Recent Review: His service provided was PERFECT and his text were so thorough re what he was going to do! Since about July we have been communicating. He adjusted the door on the back gate immediately, PERFECT! Then I didn't hear from him for awhile, after he scraped off some of the paint on the interior hand rails; however he contacted me several weeks later and explained he had a medical issue that need to be addressed. Anyway, once healthy again, he consulted with Kelly Moore, removed the caked on paint on the stairwell handrails by belt sanding outside and hand scraping the inside and oiled the handrails to seal and waterproof them. Doing this now will repel the dirt, the handrails won't peel, chip and are easy to clean. He also patched the holes where one rail was removed. Presently he is determining what paint color matches the hallway.

Recent Review: Steve built new steps with a handrail. The old steps were so small and steep we had to turn sideways to go from kitchen to garage. Now the new steps are per required specs, very solid, with easy access.

Recent Review: Mr. Hawley response time was very quick.  He began the work in the same week and completed it in a decent amount of time.  The quality of work was good.  I have more work for him to do but had to put it off for a bit, but he was ready to start as soon as the first project was complete.

Recent Review: A spiral staircase was to go over a sewer line. This contractor is not afraid to tackle this project. The contractor built a balcony and wooden staircase 15 years ago. Owner decided to replace wooden staircase with a powder coated iron staircase and handrails to current code. The pole was to be over a 12”x12” concrete square using piers. Only problem was the sewer line was where the pole was to go. The sewer line was covered and wrapped before pouring concrete. Passed building inspection. Two high quality redwood deck boards replaced existing that split. Window frames had dry rot, but replaced. Post for electrical outlet lowered for aesthetics.

My stairwell had handrails on only one side. I wanted matching handrails installed on the opposite side (see attached photo). Although the mounting work was technically challenging, the finished work looks really bad. And my guests don't care abut how challenging it was to install, they just see that it looks bad. When the contractor estimated the job, he said he would buy the 2x4 pieces ahead of time and sand them off-site so that I (and my neighbors) wouldn't have to worry about the dust and noise from the power sanding, and that the job should take about 4 hours. However, he apparently bought the wood just before arriving to the job that morning and the apprentice spent about two hours in the backyard sanding the wood while the contractor left the site to go get more material to complete the work. Overall, the two were here for almost 8 hours. At the end of the day when I saw the wood I was astonished at how bad it looked, even with paint. There are lots of dings gouges on all the pieces (see photos). He said that the wood was all the lumber yard had, but it looks more like leftovers from a junk pile. I didn't know what to do because it was obvious that the work could not be torn out and redone due to the way the railings were mounted. I finally contacted the Handyman Network to complain and I was told that they would contact the contractor and get back to me. That was two weeks ago and I haven't heard from anyone.

Everything is going very well. Manuel is prompt, professional and friendly. He quotes everything before performing a task and bills as work is completed.  All the work is done to the highest standards. I just bought the house. He has pointed out a number of things that I would not have known that need to be repaired, such as interior electrical outlets being installed outside. I value this highly in a handyman. Not all the projects are complete yet. Materials are on order. I am planning on a long term relationship with Manuel for on-going repairs and a few more upgrades.
