These guys seem to be pretty good. They repaired the old and there was so many bad things. They charged me for all the gas to fill up the line and everything. Then finally it worked a couple of hours and then conked out and they came by the next day. They put in $7,000 worth, I’ve got a unit brand new, it really works fine. I wrote them out a check on the 27th or the 23th of May. They charged me $700 for nothing and then gave me a rebate on that, then put in $7,000 roughly. I paid for a 4 ton, $7,000 out of pocket. My final bill, I thought they were going to ask for it buy they didn’t. Then they said they would send somebody out that knew about the solar panels. I guess I went about almost two weeks before they asked for their check. Since I didn’t put it in I just asked, “when do you want it”, and I just put it in the mail then.I didn’t feel as I was pricing, given an idea of what they did, but they put in a whole new out-unit and a whole new in-unit, with a new filter, with a new type of filter, everything. The whole facial inside the house is different. I really noticed that because the filter system in the side was not adequate for the square footage of the house. I just happened to know that, so I cut a big hole in this panel and just pieced it in with filters. They took all that off and put all new in. What I can’t focus on is that a 4-ton installed in one day with a refund of approximately of $500 off on the original price of installation on credit on the old, because they had nothing to work with except super old stuff with mice biting into the line and everything else. So, I got everything new. No matter how hot it is in the house or outside, I can feel cold air in 5 minutes when it goes on. I got more than the coverage in terms of its ability to saturate the house with the change in temperature. I don’t feel comfortable in terms of the market cost for that air conditioner. However, anybody you talk to, they say “you spent $7,500 for a new air conditioner, that’s not a surprising amount for a 4-ton.” Overall customer service is priced because they were really upfront, they were very confident on how they came across, they said “oh, I’ll do this or this”. They didn’t wish wash around. Their main concern was my happiness and pleased. They also knew that I was in need, not that I am a little slow, because of my chemotherapy, but let’s face it, you have your good days. Quality, follow up, everything – “B+”.

The call placed to Modern Air was as a second opinion for another company who quoted a price of 7900.00 to replace our 16 year old roof-mount unit. This man was thorough, and inspected the unit. He asked my husband about what prior work had been done. He then asked if the unit had ever been deeply cleaned. We told him the other company claimed to have cleaned it. The serviceman advised it would cost more than a basic service call, and he could not guarantee that it would fix all of the issues, but did we want it to be deep cleaned? My husband said yes, and the serviceman took 1.5 hours to take the unit apart and clean all of the crusted and PLUGGED fins! He showed each step to my husband, explaining that it didn't look like it had ever been deep cleaned. He put the unit back together, turned it on and the unit has been keeping this 1800 sq ft home cool ever since!! My husband asked what his company would charge to replace the unit for this house. The serviceman replaied, and quot;I'm not allowed to even oiffer you a quote. If you'd like to have a salesman get in contact with you, I'll arrange it. However, your unit should last several more years.and quot; This company is LEGIT!!!

We had heard a whining sound inside the outdoor Trane 900 air conditioner. 20 years old.  As usual, I attempt to be the first responder.  Well, I removed the top and struck something electrical and POP, a quick flame and no more power to the air conditioner.  Thinking I've done enough damage, better call in a professional.  First time we've used Central Valley Airconditioning, Steve.  Called the number and he personally answered.  Asked what had happened.  Said he'd be out that same early evening between 5:30 PM- 6:30 PM (100 degree day) Steve arrived, friendly greeting and off to solve the problem after my explanation*.  I had taken the screen off, but Steve knew of another entrance right into the electrical area.  First he shut off the power which I should have done.  A tripped circuit breaker was reset.  Steve made a number of diagnostic checks on the amps, Freon leaks, and more.  He replace the singed wire and tapped up my outside lead ins.  Steve was always willing and able to explain what he was doing.  Very ethical.  If an AC person had said we'd burned out a condenser, whatever, sure, we'd believe it.   Steve said the unit was running fine.  I had used a blower to blow inside the unit.  Maybe something had fallen inside to cause the whine.  Maybe it needs to be left on longer.  Don't know at this time, it is working fine.  No talk of replacing this unit for a new one, though I initiated what it may entail.  Steve was here about 45 minutes.  Minimal trip charge was all it cost.  Lucky stars we had Steve here.  Super knowledgeable about air conditioners, heaters too, I'm sure. What's better than a service technician you can trust not to overcharge and only do what is necessary. *Steve made it on time even though he had mechanical truck troubles and brought equipment in his personal SUV.

I've had them for years. I think they're very good. I've been with them for maybe 20 years. I would highly recommend them. I have a contract with them to check and change my filters and keep my air conditioner going. So they come and check it up. They have to go on the roof. They're right on the job. I would highly recommend them. I've been with them for over 20 years and they've done so many things because my air conditioning is on the top of the house and it's difficult and everything. They're just in the middle on pricing. I don't think they're too high or too low. They're dependable. I was at the hospital with my husband before he passed away and the hospital was freezing. I thought, "Oh God, I'm going to go home, " and I came home and my house was freezing and I couldn't get it on and they came and helped me right away that night. So they're very dependable and very understandable. I would trust them, I really would. I have recommended them to other people too. If something goes out, I call them and I know I'm taken care of. We just do not have the people in Merced that we should have. They're accessible, you could call and you don't get the runaround. They're very responsible.

I only got two estimates and both companies gave two different prices and two different opinions each thought they were right.  I should have gotten a third opinion and also got references and checked with the better business bureau.  Although I have checked with them before and not all companies that do bad business are reported so it doesn't always make a difference.  I should have turned him in for leaving my untit in a hazardous condition and not be taken in by his good ol boy this will be fine attitude until you can get a new one.  I didn't need a new one, I just needed this one fixed properly and not have him do a half a** job!!!  It still baffles me to this day how someone is called in to fix a air conditioner and ends up breaking your heater and thinks he is not responsible.  It seemed to me that he knew he messed up , also if you see that a repairman leaves spare parts laying around, TAKE PICTURES because their game is to deny, deny, deny!!!  Also make sure he puts everything in writing ate , I don't normally do business with anyone who doesn't put their estimate in writing or be willing to give me a parts list or return my old parts.  Why for the precise reason that you have no guarantee that they did what they said they did.  This man ran a scam on me by making me think he was doing me some random act of kindness, he was going to rebuild a motor and the unit would be good as new when in fact he actually lost some of my original parts and now it doesn't work at all.  It falls in the catagory of if it sounds to good to be true it is!!  At the end of the day he was rude, unprofessional and unethecial.

Recent Review: I called Nova heating and air conditioner on Sunday, "Father's Day" with an emergency. It was going to be 108 degrees that day and the night before my old unit blew out the compressor. I was in a bad way. I had a family member in my home with a health condition, (which I never told Nova that) and I knew my home would be unbearably hot inside. I knew my loved one would suffer if something wasn't done in a hurry. Within two hours, the technician came to my home, discovered that because my home units were so old, (25 years) I needed to replace both units. Fermin, the technician went home that Sunday evening and sent me a quote for a replacement A/C unit. I excepted the bid Monday morning and by 9:00 pm Monday evening I had ice cold air circulating in my home again. I know that the technician had to cancel many service calls that day to help me with my problem. I will be forever grateful for his service, workmanship and promptness while he fixed our A/C units. By the way, he brought a portable A/C unit to help cool our home while he was preforming the work. Thank you, Nova Heating and Air
