After realizing a faulty shower pan mandated a bathroom reno down to the floorboards, we searched endlessly for a contractor. We could not have been more happy with our eventual selection of Mark Petersen. Mark and his partner Scott were extremely accommodating and professional from day one. We were given a contract and estimate at the outset and though our final tally ended up being a couple thousand more, it was completely expected given requested upgrades and necessary repairs discovered during demo. Mark had us select, order and pickup all materials except the shower doors. This ended up being a good thing to keep the process moving in a timely fashion. He recommended suppliers when needed. Mark always kept us informed and if any issues arose, such as completely rotted out studs, he made it a point to have us see the damage and explain the needed improvements before they were made. They work early (7 am) but did their best to keep noise to a minimum. They were always willing to respond to questions and incredibly considerate of our home, laying out protective material to keep rooms and hallways clean plus sweeping and vacuuming every single day. If cleanliness is as important to you as it is to me, you won't be disappointed. I found Mark and Scott to be efficient, the entire project took about six weeks but in all honesty, about two of those weeks could be attributed to owner delays (vacation and indecision on materials). When they discovered that the countertop we ordered wasn't the appropriate size, they worked around it, seamlessly incorporating it into the existing space. To account for this, we ended up having Scott design and build a new vanity cabinet to fit the room/countertop (a large part of the additional cost). It looks beautiful and is perfectly functional. I should add that other issues arose during the bathroom reno, issues in other rooms of our decades old, oddly improved home. Mark corrected those issues, at times with no additional cost (a leaking toilet in another bathroom for example). Having contractors work on your home, especially while you're not present, can be a nerve-wracking experience, but the whole process could not have gone more smoothly and we could not be happier. Mark and Scott did all of the work except for laying the tile (their subs were nice and accommodating though they didn't always see eye to eye), painting (we did that) and the installation of the shower doors. As proof that Scott takes great pride in his work, he wasn't happy with the original hinge installation and called the glass company back in for a second day to redo the job. Though it's small, our bathroom is now beautiful, fully operational and frankly, it feels like a hotel bathroom, a bit of a respite in the midst of busy days. We delayed our renovation for nearly a year while stockpiling funds and Mark's work has been worth every penny. Count us as extremely satisfied customers willing to vouch for their work without hesitation.
