Recent Review: Mike was professional and punctual, as always.  I contacted him to do some work that a buyer had requested on a property that is under contract to sell.  He was able to fit me into his schedule on relatively short (about 1 1/2 week) notice, did quality work, and didn't leave a mess.   I often recommend him to my Real Estate clients--buyers and sellers.  There are cheaper handymen out there, but Mike does professional quality work with professional quality service.  Plus he is skilled in many trades so it's not necessary to hire separate specialists for every job.

Recent Review: I haven?t always had the greatest luck with contractors, so when we finally started doing updates to the house again, I wasn?t exactly looking forward to that part of it.  This time around we wanted to replace the old tank water heater with a tankless one. Also replace the two ancient floor furnaces that had been the only source of heat in our little Craftsman bungalow with a central forced air system.   Big project and not cheap either.  I did my homework.  I scoured and studied all the various sites and reviews and came up with four top companies to get bids from.  During the bid process Nahman stood out immediately.  We were impressed with how responsive they were and that they actually paid attention to what we wanted and made an honest assessment about what could and could not be done.  After the initial visit by Said to prepare a bid, Albert himself called me to answer some follow up questions I had.  After we talked for a HALF HOUR he said it would require a second look.  Then an hour later he came to the house, to look at it for himself!  He let us know where a tankless would and would not fit (we wanted to move it outside the house and others had said ?no problem it can fit there or there? etc . . .  Albert said ?actually no it can?t be there or there and here?s why?)  He took the time to really look at the project and suggest the best options and figured out a different spot where we could put the tankless outside.  He also saved us money, initially I wanted a recirculator pump for the tankless to avoid potentially having a long wait time to get hot water.  He said unnecessary overkill, I?ll just re-plumb it so it?s a straight line between the tankless and the farthest point in the system, insulate everything and you?ll be fine (he was right we now get hot water as fast and in some places faster with the tankless).  The care and attention to figuring out and properly assessing our project really impressed us.  After all the bids came in, his was not the lowest but very competitive.  And for things like this what you want is not the contractor with the lowest bid but the contractor who will do the job right and well.  Nahman was the clear choice for us.  So we hired them and I am happy to tell you we choose right.  They came in, performed the work on time, as agreed and for the price bid.  All of the many workers who came through our home during the week to install the water heater, the ductwork and the furnace were great.  They came on time (actually they were always early), kept all the areas neat and clean with tarps and mats, cleaned up after themselves, and very importantly communicated with us regularly.  One of the things I really appreciated was the way they would advise us what they were doing and why as well as ask us questions when they needed to.  Believe me when people are drilling holes into the side of your house, nailing and pounding into the crawlspace, and cutting more holes in your beautiful oak floors you want to be consulted!  I really felt the Nahman crew cared about the job they were doing and went out of their way to make sure things were done right.  Shout out to Said, Enrique and of course Albert for ensuring 100% satisfaction.  There is so much other stuff I?m leaving out that we were impressed by and happy with but this is getting long, so to sum it up Albert and his crew were just plain awesome and what you want in a contractor.    Finally of course the proof is in the pudding, so after the install it was on to the heat efficiency test done by an independent 3rd party (HERS testers) and the City inspections.  The HERS test checks for duct leakage, lower is better.  This is to make sure that new ducts aren?t just leaking the heat out before it gets to you.  The limit is 6% leakage.  When they ran the test it was 1.5%, they said they had never gotten a reading that low before.  Amazing.  Then the City came by, similarly impressed by both the install of the tankless and the furnace and ducts.  Really great job.  Honestly, this is one of the best overall experiences I?ve had with a contractor.  I highly recommend Albert and his company.  At this point I am wishing he would consider becoming a general contractor so he can take care of all my home improvement and repair needs!

Valley Heating, Cooling, Electrical and Solar
Award 2018Super Service Award
Recent Review: After gathering several quotes, we ultimately decided to proceed with only part of the project, deferring the other part for later. While we did not select Valley SCE, we will certainly consider them for our future HVAC needs, as they are clearly a very professional, successful, top-notch organization. It took a little longer to get on their calendar than some other companies, which is probably an indicator that they are in high demand relative to their competition. Zac, the gentleman who came to our house, was prompt, knowledgeable, and personable, and he was one of only two bidders to follow-up with us later (two weeks) to ask if we had any lingering questions and find out if we'd made a selection. Our overall impression was that this is a gold-star company with a full slate of clients who may pay a bit more but get what they pay for -- and then some. We won't hesitate to call them back when we have future HVAC needs.

Peninsula Heating
Recent Review: I have used Peninsula Heating for several furnace-related projects over the years at my house in San Francisco, and when I moved to Daly City and my new house had to have asbestos removed from the ductwork and the ductwork replaced, I called Joe Byrne and had him come and give me an estimate. Joe came out right away and did a detailed inspection of the ductwork and the furnace and wrote up a proposal. The price was fair and I knew Joe would do a first-class job, but I went with my contractor's guys because he vouched for them, they were cheaper and could do the job right away. However, when something needs work on my furnace in the future, it will be Joe Byrne that I call.

Reviews in Airport Mail Center to Replace Ductwork

DAtlas Heating & Air Conditioning Co
i sent to e-mail to Altas Heating on Jan 7th, 2013, explaining the work we need doing (replacing leaky, un-insulated and unbalanced ductwork) in our home and requesting a quote for total system replacement. I received a reply from Ms Lisa Tuck of Atlas Heating promising to call me (she never did).  Later, I left a VM on her office number at Atlas, asking her to call me - again, she never did. Then late last night I received an e-mail from her.  it's clear from this that she does not recall our prior e-mails (4, sent over two days). She also referred to me using an incorrect last name. I did send her a copy of our prior e-mails, but based upon her inability to recall them, and the fact that she never (as promised and requested) returned my calls, I replied that I was no longer interested, now, or in the future, in doing business with her company. Clearly, this is the busy season for HVAC companies, and it's possible that my experience is unique.  But I expect common business courtesy from any company - especially those on Angie's list - that I contact.  The fact that I did not receive this has very negatively biased my impression of Atlas Heating's "customer service".
